I really loved your comment. Rocky must understand how the maoist are forcefully taking donation in the heart of Kathmandu. If any one denies, no body knows what will happen, but our previous government and king have never done that. God knows what will happen, if the forcefully donation taking Maoist will come to government.

State Power, Monarchy and Girija

A heated debate is brewing in Nepal after PM Koirala said that the monarchy requires to be given a space in order to build democracy in Nepal. PM Koirala and his core supporters argue that the Maoists and other political parties are given space, which the palace also deserves. This argument would be valid if the space given to king Gyanandra is of the same nature and value as the space given to other political parties. However, what PM is proposing is dangerous and against the core values of democracy.
The fundamental premise of democracy is that a state should treat all its citizens as equal. All people – millionaire, beggar, prime minister, peon, Olympian, and disabled – are given fundamental rights, including the right to vote, of equal value. By this principle, everyone, theoretically, receives an equal space for influencing how that country is governed. Therefore, in a democratic Nepal, every Nepalese, including Gyanendra, Prachanda, Girija, beggar, and blind, should deserve a space and equal space – not of different value or weight. Once the fundamental rights of equality are guaranteed, the country is governed as per the will of the majority of the population. The rule of democracy, however, guarantees that the ruling majority cannot take away the fundamental rights of the minority after coming into power.
No system becomes a genuine democracy simply naming it a democracy. Once upon a time, an owner of a factory with 2000 workers used to be given 2000 votes compared to one vote for an ordinary citizen; people needed “certificate of qualifications and good conduct” to be able to vote; women were not persons and could not vote; blacks were denied right to vote in the USA till 1965 and in South Africa till 1993. All these were practiced on the name of democracy. Today, those old ideas are rejected and only a democracy that enshrines equal rights to all humans, irrespective of social status, sex, race, religion, color, and age, is acceptable. Today’s people want democratic model where all segments of society are proportionally represented so as to ensure fairness.
However, what PM Koirala is asking for is not the right of Gyanendra as a citizen of Nepal. He is bargaining for special rights and privileges for the palace (Gyanendra is just a temporary dweller of that institution) as exercised in the feudal past. No doubt that Koirala will be in favor of reducing the quantity of the privilege but what he is standing is against the fundamental principle of democracy.
Some people have argued that since Maoists and other previously excluded political parties were given space, monarchy should also be given space and power. This argument is severely flawed. When we give space to Maoists, we do not give Prachanda any blind mandate to rule Nepal. Prachanda, another Maoist, or member of previously excluded groups will be given one vote each and a right to participate in an election. They could come to power only if majority of people elect them. Even those in power have to step down when majority of people do not vote for them. Most importantly, an elected leader cannot pass his power to his children through inheritance. By the same token, democracy fully permits Gyanendra to open a “Palace Party” and fully participate in democratic election and take the helm of the state if he garners the mandate of the majority of people.
However, Girija and other Monarchists are not trying to give the same kind of space to the parties and the palace. They are trying to allocate portion of the state power to king Gyanendra and his successors against the will of the people. Allocating portion of the state power and state money to an unelected person without popular mandate in a manner that the power and wealth can be passed through inheritance is not about democracy but is about retaining portion of autocracy and feudal rule.
Those who deliberately want to take away portion of the state power, which solely belongs to Nepalese people, and permanently give it to the palace do not trust democracy. They believe that the world would crumble if it slips away from the grip of monarchy. If they are trying to give power to palace out of fear, they are cowards – unworthy to be in the helm of a government that was established by the will of the people who fought on the streets of Nepal against a brutal regime. A democratic state should give the same rights and privileges to palace dwellers as every other citizen of the country – no more, no less.

I am fully agree with pm. if i say this things you all viewer called me anythings that i know.
But when i listen all the voice of pm , then I am agree with him. Yes it is easy to say we need this things,that things and those things. Frist of all we should look our country situation and where we are in the world .
We all know king was autrotic in his time and what his situation was and now what his situation we can imagine? But just this it is not sufficient for the democracy. Look our country situation, economic condition and mountain area of nepal. Where we are , our development scale is. We have just one example of karnali is enough, people have hunger, they are dying without citamol, their children condion and women condition worse than other people in the country and we can not comparision in the developed state.
Like such situation and otherhand since ten year civilian were killing by both parties, forcefully donation and abduction was normal. Still now they are continuing . And fron the GOv side lots of people were disappeared, extrajudicial killing and torture.
when these all violater will punish? why no bod is not questioning in both side? Even though GOV is responsible of HUmnrights protection but also rebles also have not any right to harm the civilian. So like such situation rebles commender who did crime , could we excuse them?
yes it is easy to broke peace process and yes it is easy to say I leave GOV, like Amik Serchen is saying then what is responsibility? is it time to VAGBANDA? why UML is critiseizing his own coaliation GOV? yes they are doing alot of wrong thins but also we should appreciate them about their good initiative.
I want to ask so called some civil society leaders? in nepali history , now they are saying they are representive civil society we all know they are outdated political caders in before of different partiies. If GOV ggive them any responsibilities of their field but they said no idea and resign. Yes it is easy to write any bad words and we have pen we can do but it affects normal people.
So i am little bit optimistic in this time but some have lots of hidden agenda in nepa, some are workings for some international agency not for nepali people so they have enough money too. if peace process will break like such group has never affected but normal people what they will do?
anyway its my thought and no body is perfect and GOV is also doing lots of wrong things but at least they initiated , i hope peace will establish and prepatator should punish and hope victim will get justic,

I think gi-ri-ja is mad and should get place first in aryaghat or should be kick out of Nepal.Not only ma-ri-ja but also all of these old Chor netas Like* Makune,kaju kancha,sere,bame,prachande,baburam, ram saran,prakash chandra lohani,kamal thapa etc etc. And government should be take over by new generations netas.
But any way by saying king should be given place, This time ma-ri-ja may be right. May be king has done some mistakes due to misguided by his chor advisors.Just imagine with out king these bloddy chor netas will sale a nepal in no time like before they sold boeing 387 ,lauda case,mahakali,and leading industries etc etc.Look at thses chor netas properties ( what were they yesterday and what are they today), not only netas , but also their chmacha properties. Now not only kings property should be nationalised. Before doing that all these chor netas properties should be nationalised. Where the hell they got all these properties.

I looked up a few dozen definitions of the word ‘democracy’ again to make sure what it really meant. This word has been very illusive in it’s true meaning as it has been explained in many different ways – suiting the needs of the one who defined it. Still, I could not find a single definition where it stated democracy should be ‘all inclusive’ or in other words, nowhere it is written democracy cannot exclude a certain segment of the society. I wonder how Girija would define it.
Hierarchical system does not work in modern system and always poses risks of excluding (or including) all the right (or wrong) things for all the wrong reasons. In modern context, hierarchy is a form of an undemocratic structure. Can Girija, a firm believer of hierarchical system, believe in democracy (in its modern context) as well? Or, can he cope with the changed democratic perspectives of the 21st century?
The statement from Girija, I believe, did not come from the tip of his tongue. In my opinion, the problem lies in the fact that Girija, being undemocratic (in modern context), doesn’t believe he should be answerable to anyone and that he should be trusted blindly. He never provides reasons for his decisions. So, even truth out of his mouth seems very evil.
Even politically aware people have a tendency of looking at the problems of monarchy in recent past. RNA is loyal to the monarchy, and has been so since pre-2007 BS*. After Mahendra’s takeover in 2017BS, the palace took every step needed to remain in power. National Intelligence Service has never been as active as during those 30 years. There are people within the monarchy circle we see (vocal monarchists), but there are more we can’t – ants who were fed and bred by the palace as their reserve pool. Although most of their offsprings have become wasted, there is a section who’ve been educated in outstanding universities worldwide to serve for the monarchy at any given moment. As for the military, they definitely have had much more strategic trainings and do have much better contacts with arms suppliers than any rebel would have. Here, I probably have only scratched the surface of the deep roots monarchy has created in past couple of decades (roundabout half a century).
Can a referendum or a Constituent Assembly be sufficient to uproot the deep rooted structure created by the monarchy? Wouldn’t it be like getting rid of the owner and repainting an old building without killing the wood-eating moths inside each and every beams, columns and walls (who knows, even the foundation perhaps)?
Yes, there should be a space for the monarchy, but that doesn’t necessarily imply that the king should remain as a king (ceremonial/constitutional or whatever) forever. As I mentioned above, as Girija can neither comprehend nor adapt to the changed democratic perspectives, he cannot think of anything but ‘ceremonial’ role for the monarchy. What we need now is a solution, not being reminded of problems and risks. Maybe a ‘ceremonial king’ is Girija’s easy solution, but no Mr PM, we would neither accept nor allow you to walk away with such a myopic solution.
Sorry, neither do I have an answer to the problem – and that is exactly why I’m writing my ‘comments’ here. I’m not a neta. Maybe the civil society leaders have the solution, but I haven’t seen it coming yet. There’s more finger pointing there than anywhere else.
*One may say the army was loyal to the Ranas before 2007BS, but with the Shah-Rana relationship, what is the difference?

1) Could you give us suitable comments about that matter and how you will digest this hideous truth?
2) Yes you are right, Katmandu only is not Complete Nepal, Nepal is almost knows thousand villages plus rural area. So tell us “Your Kings and his alliance like Girija, Kaju Kanchha, Suraya B Thapa, Kamal Thapa and more selfish leaders are giving any priority for this area? Never! Interestingly, I agree with GPK on space sharing, despite all his wrong doing. In democracy all should be given space and how they utilize and the fittest survives.
When you talk about jana-andolan II, nepal is represented by 28 million people, of which apporx ONLY 2-3 lakhs came to the streets in Kathmandu, even the kathmandities did not support (as they did in 2046), this does not even represent 10% of the population. kathnaus laone is not Nepal. Thus to decise about the role of monarchy, a bunch of 8 so called leaders people (who had alwayed favour monarchy)and with the threat of bunch of hooligans and terroist should not exploit the right of the 28 million sitting in closed rooms of baluwater, minister’s quater, gokarna or godavari over rich food by making any decisions.
The 28 million of neplaese should have the right to decide the future course of monarcy and the political system. THUS BEWARE 8 so called THUGS and MAOIAST TERROIST, you dont represent nepalese ata ll, first the mandate given to the political parties during the elction is already expired and moaist does not even have any form of mandate.
REFERUNDUM with maoist disarming is the best solution, as the people will cast their wish in afree, peaceful environment.
If the maoist refuse to disarm, they should all be kept in the Zoo in Jwalakhel.

‘Desperate’and its derivation in noun form is’desperation’. this word is different from another similar homophone depression.
Yes I agree that Girija Prasad does not perhaps suit so much to be a die hard supporter of inclusive politics. He , in the past, has caused many adventures to expell top party leaders within the NC.
However, if he has truly been now a changed leader and has wishes to repent by changing his monopolistic political manouevres by becoming a neo-inclusivist, he should be heeded properly.
If a desperate communists party which was reduced to insignificance in the parliament because of internal rift and divisions and had totally lost its grip in popular politics , can rebounce in Nepalese politics with a revolutionery politics this sufficiently can set an example to all political factors in Nepal that its future can never be as assuring. With its open border with India and our southern neighbour being so much of a fertile ground for breeding batches of militias, Nepal will always be prone to terrorism as well as revolutionery uprisings, as there exists a very flimsy veil between these brotherly terminoligies.
Nepal’s future will give rise to many more new questions than answers after the Maoists militia joins the mainstream politics in Nepal. Because the culture we have sown with gun politics will surely be reaping many more bloody harvests for many years to come.
Nepal has been a breeding ground for disatisfactory and disillusioned communist politics and and communism succeeds only if becomes successful in keeping the nation as poor as it is or worse than this. Affluence and culturally wealthy people shun communism and the cummunist superstructure will likely to crumble in no time as sson as people will be capable the disillusioning drab life under communist poltical ideology in the nation. Then a kinetic and and unending cycle of vengeance, rebellion , uproarish upheavel in the nation will continue.

Actuallu Girija is right.The space should be given to king means king must become like a citizen giving away his billion of rupees to poor nepalese and leave all palaces he has hold now.His thousands ropanis of land must be divided to landless people.He must drink local raksi and must ride a maruti car.And we must have right to call him Hey!Gyane.If the space is not given to him he will be frusted and leave the country with whole properties which is a huge loss to Nepal.

I think in this case Girija is right, because if everyone want to get rid of King right now, he may fight back, because the Nepal Army is still loyal to him. Since the 15,000 people killers are freed, why shouln’t 21 people killer get break? Girija is the one who lead this Andolan-II this far. I support Girija, because he has given the space to everyone, such as smaller parties, Maoist and powerless King. And after all this is the real democracy.

I think Girija has outlived his utility. There is much more than what meets the eye in Girija’s speech – (1) the Baluwatar meeting with business community was arranged by himself, (2)FNCCI has never sided with democratic movement, remember, its past activities, just look at the people sitting next to Girija – Nepal’s top bank defaulters (3) Girija wants to have a milage because Prachanda too has been invited today by FNCCI.

Giriza is a seasoned politician. What he says is not like young blood: “zosh only without hosh”. Everyone knows in 36 saal there was great threat to civilian life in the transitional period. But later there was compromise and people became safe.
Similarly, till now the king has space but if he is tormented definitely his supporters like army, zamindars, high-class people including businessmen can create havoc and Giriza knows this.

Here are the some sequential jobs to do for the betterment of Nepal:
(1)First of all management of “Girija and Company”.This company includes “DEUBA”,”KAJU KANCHHA”,”PARAJUNG” and others who ruined the country when they are in the Government.They leave nothing in the country while in the govermnet.It must be rememeber that “Dhameeja kanda”,”mahakali Treaty’,”tanakpur”"Sarpa kanda’ etc.Who did these?People beleive them in the movement that they realize their mistake in the past.But it seems wrong.
(2)If “girija company” is managed,I hope Nepali Congress will also take speed and be able to discuss in the betterment of the country not in the betterment of “JOSHI,SUJATA ,SuSHIL and other Lovi Papi”.Here all congress men have to think about it.
(3)Managemnet of Maoist arm not decomensiing until CA election.That election will certainly reject Monarch if it happens with Maoist arm with them self.
(4)Merge of army’s after CA election making progressive Nepal army.
(5)Election for MPS.

आठ शुन्यको उभो लागे अझै रहर मरेन कि
विस्तारा मै बने कानुन अझै सेखी झरेन कि
यता उता चल्मलाउदा जताततै उन्कै मुहार
जनता तीम्रो अनुहारमा अझै ग्रहण परेन कि

सडक छेक बाटो रोक म त उन्कै भक्त परे
मालीक नेपालीका दुर्दशा अझै सुरु भएन कि
बोलेकै हु सके जति अझै केही भएन कि ?
बोलेकै हु तिम्रै लागी अझै माखो मरेन कि ??
