यो अजब नेपाल, गजब नेपालमा जे पनि हुन्छ भन्ने उखान साँच्चिकै हो बा ! कान्तिपुर एफएमको वार्षिकोत्सवको कार्यक्रम टिभीमा लाइभ हेर्दै थिएँ। भनिँदै थियो- अझ रिले स्टेसन खडा गरेर देशका थप भागमा प्रसारण गर्ने अनुमति सरकारले दिइसकेको छ रे। सरकारले नबुझेको हो कि हामी बढी जान्ने भएको हो ? मैले त एफएम रेडियोले यसरी रिले स्टेसन राखेर देशव्यापी एउटै प्रसारण गरेको कतै सुनेको/देखेको छैन। एफएम भनेकै एउटा निश्चित स्थानलाई लक्षित गर्ने खालको अवधारणमा बनेको भन्ने बुझेको थिएँ मैले त। हाम्रो कान्तिपुर एफएमले त एफएमको परिभाषामा नै परिवर्तन ल्याउने रहेछ कि के हो ?
यो मामिलामा शाही सरकारले लिएको केही अडान ठीक थियो। तर उनीहरु पनि त्यतिबेला पूर्वाग्रही त पूर्वाग्रही नै बनेका हुन्। कान्तिपुर एफएमको चाहिँ विरोध गर्ने, अनि केएटीएच एफएमलाई भने पश्चिमाञ्चलमा प्रसारण गर्ने अनुमति दिने। दोहोरो मापदण्ड त उनीहरुको पनि निन्दालायक नै थियो।
अब अहिलेको संक्रमणकालको सरकारले यस्तो कुरामा झन् के नीति बनाउन सक्नु र। कुचिकारदेखि लिएर प्राध्यापकसम्मका पेशा अपनाउनेहरुले दबाब दिइरहेको सरकारले केही गर्ला भन्ने सोच्नु नै गलत हो। तर यो कतै नभएको एफएमको एउटै प्रसारणलाई स्याटेलाइटबाट अपलिङ्क गरी देशभर सुन्न मिल्ने बनाउन खोज्ने कम्पनी र त्यस्तो अनुमति दिने सरकारको नौटंकी देख्दा भने दिक्क हुनु बाहेक गर्ने उपाय केही छैन हामीमा। एफएम रेडियोको पनि रिले स्टेसन रे ! कहीँ नभएको जात्रा हाँडीगाउँमा भने जस्तो कहीँ नभएको एफएम नेपालमा भन्ने उखान जन्मने होला भोलि। चलाउने नै मन भए बरु एएम, मिडियम वेभ, सर्टवेभ चलाए हुन्थ्यो नि।
वैशाख ११ गतेको परिवर्तनको लगत्तै अनुमति नै नलिइकन परीक्षण प्रसारण भन्दै कान्तिपुर टिभीले राष्ट्रव्यापी प्रसारण थालेको भन्ने पनि सुनिएको थियो। लोकतन्त्रको आन्दोलनका क्रममा पुर्याएको अग्रणी योगदान स्वरुप त्यसलाई पुरस्कार मान्ने हो भने पनि एफएमको कुरा भने मलाई अझै पनि चित्त बुझेको छैन।
अस्ति भर्खर बाग्लुङ यात्राको क्रममा म धवलागिरी एफएमको कार्यालयमा पसेको थिएँ। थोरै स्रोत र साधनबाट उनीहरुले स्थानीय रुपमा एफएम चलाइरहेका छन्। अब यी टाइकूनहरुलाई राजधानीबाट बनाएका कार्यक्रम प्रसारण गर्न लगाएर राजधानीकेन्द्रित कार्यक्रम पस्केर स्थानीय एफएमको घाँटी निमोठ्ने ? यो त भएन नि हो !

Something should be done to stop the monopoly of the Media. Especially when they are bias to the ethnical groups of Nepal. Kantipur and Kathmandu Post belong to certain section of the ruling class and religious back ground. They are not sensitive about the problems faced by the ethnical groups of Nepal. Both are very commercialized and targeted to cater to the Foreigners and Nepalese abroad. The articles and news published completely marginalizes certain minorities of Nepal and neglect them. If any newspaper attempts to project certain group of people only they should be boycotted.

एफएमको विषयमा जुन दृष्टिकोण्वाट कुराको उठान भएको छ त्यो एक प्रकारले सहि नै रहेको छ । तर, उमेशजी यो प्रतिष्पर्धाको जमाना हो, यहां जस्ले प्रतिष्पर्धा गर्नसक्छ उही त टिक्ने हो नी । कान्तिपुर पुर्ण व्यावसायिक संस्था हो । यसले मुल रुपमा मनोरञ्जनात्मक र सुचनामुलक रेडियोको रुपमा आफुलाइ विकसित गर्दै लगेको पाइन्छ ।
जस्तो कान्तिपुरले रेडियो सगरमाथासंग अहिलेको ट्रेण्डमा कहिल्यै प्रतिष्पर्धा गर्ने सक्दैन । किनकी दुबैको सञ्चालनको मोडल नै फरक छ । त्यस्तै हिट्स एफएमलाइ सगरमाथाले कुनै प्रभाव पार्दैन किनकी त्यो पुर्ण मनोरञ्जनात्मक रेडियो हो । अन्यको हकमा भने केही भिन्नता छैन । सबै एक अर्कामा एकै मोडलका कार्यक्रम चलाएर बसेका छन् ।

ठुलो लगानी हुंदैमा एकछत्र राज गर्छ भन्ने मान्यतामा मेरो सहमत छैन । जस्तो नेपालमा कान्तिपुर दैनिकको प्रतिष्र्धी पत्रिका नै छैन । तर धरानमा ब्लाष्ट टाइम्सलाइ कान्तिपुरले छुनपनि सकेको छैन । यसको कारण के हो भने अब पोखरावाट चलेको एफएमले पनि कान्तिपुरको शैलिमा काठमाडौंमा भएका घटनालाइ प्रमुख प्राथमिकता दिएर पोखराको समाचारलाइ प्राथमिता नदिने हो भने त कान्तिपुर नै सर्वोसर्वा भइहाल्छ नी हैन र । त्यसैले मेरो मान्यता स्विकृतीमा कडाइ गर्नुपर्छ भन्ने हैन बरु एफएमको वर्गिकरण गर्नु पर्छ र त्यसैको आधारमा सरकारी निति कायम गर्नु पर्छ । अनी स्थानीय एफएमहरुले एक अर्काको कपि गर्नेभन्दा पनि मौलिकता पस्कने प्रयास गर्नेपर्छ । हैन र ?

What Kantipur and current government with team of technical experties are doing is a generally practiced media business. I don’t see a bit of illegal, immoral or unethical stuff on this process.
I have no clue where you sensed the stuff like “Kahi Navayeko Jatra Hadigaun Ma” in this process.
Cheap Cheap Cheap… is the definition of FM compared
to AM and Short Wave installation. “Every one has a right to own the spectrum” (in the current context, forget the past dark era). Just because Kantipur is big media mogul does not mean they cannot secure the spectrum in every city in Nepal. Well if they do then Nepali people will have an alternative to existing FMs in the area and Stated owned stations. I don’t think Kantipur is going to kill the local FM stations. No doubt there will be fierce competetion between local and big mogul but it is up the local stations to come up with the better and competetive programs which in turn benefits the listeners.
Khudos to those Engineers in Kantipur and Government who put this process in action.

Not within the same country, see next example,
My friends (in Brisbane)listen FM from Mumbai by digital satellite receiver, i.e most of the indian FM are broadccasting all over the world.
i can give hundreds of other examples.
so it would be better to give the news, after having some knowledge.

This time, I noticed your comments do not have any baseline. I am not aggree with your opinion about FM radios. It can broadcast even worldwide. Your thinking is absolutely incorrect. Do not mind. What others are doing is not important, What we can do is very important. Ya, this is very true that, some of RJ of KFM need to be taught for how they have to speak nepali or english. They are black spot of our society, but overall KFM is doing good for all.

monoply in media most be eliminated. this not just, yes we know that kantipur F.M. has played vital role in movement but it does not mean that it should be awarded in this way. this decision must be withdrawn quickly otherwise other small fms can not be sustained. from NEW YORK.

Well, I could not stop myself writing something on this topic.
The expansion of Kantipur FM does not necessarily affect other FMs. Whatever Kantipur FM does, it lacks the quality and I completely agree with nakulrayamajhi. Kantipur FM among other are not responisible in teaching young generation a good nepali language. It does not have quality english programs either. What a shame! The programs are imported from across the border and being broadcasted without paying even a little attention to how it can affect the community by those who lack a basic nepali grammar.
In summary, as long as we have stations like Sagarmatha Radio, we can always tune something good and be infromed and learn some nice stuff.
So, my request to you all…….please tune into Sagarmatha Radio 102.4

Unlike you, I am delighted with this news. There used to be a difference in level of information that the people can access in Kathmandu and in out of valley. This effort of Kantipur FM is good but to make the local FM stations survive, the government should act now in a different manner ( may be tax waive to certain limit)

One of the worst things we Nepali do is: we always look for example in the world as if we are not capable of doing anything new. Remember that Gyane and his chamchas gave an example of India when they banned news in FM statations. Forget the “definitions” of FM radio given by others. We can do it on our own. Maybe others can learn from Nepal’s experience and change their definitions. After all, Radio Sagarmatha set an example in South Asia….
That said, your concerns about local radios could be valid. But remember that your fear that Kantipur might gobble up local raidos could well be unfounded. News or entertainment items are not “limited” in quantity. There will always be way-outs for local creative people.
Finally, it is unfortunate that you did not google to know the fact that chain FM radio stations are there all over the United States.

The news is good.
Media should be given opportunity to extend. Every people has their basic right to hear the latest news and views and entertainment. I believe, personally, Kantipur FM is doing the good job to keep people informed all around Nepal. If others can do, that will be nice of the government.
This is a bad idea to stop any media to broadcast. Let’s see how. COnsider Radio Nepal. What is the quality aspect of its news? Pepole in remote areas always have to depend upon BBC for reliable source of information. In such condition free media especially National Level FM station will be good.
So far as local FM is considered, they have local information to be shared among the local people. Local views are better broadcasted by local FM than any Kathmandu based FM.
I dont see any difference. Public are aware and they have rights to hear a particular FM and their programs. One cannot control.
I believe this is not an issue to be discussed with greater intensity. WHY? Lets say, http://www.mysansar.com is a blog. Its a blog not a news. It is broadcasting its personal idea throughout the world via internet. If i am not mistaken. Why this blog is doing this? It has a vested interested to keep Nepali people informed about the latest happenings. Again, there are Newspapers we can read online. Why they have to put in web? The general motto is to keep people informed. Let me know if I am wrong?
So, this is not a good idea to debate about media. It should be given full opportunity. THe good aspect of these FM are that they deliver the quick information, and highlight the local problems.
Wish all the Nepalese has a right to information. Personally, i want every nepalese knwo the latest innovation that can have positive impacts on their general knowledge and assures their basic rights.

I am in france rit now and it’s not so unusal for a station to opreate all over the country there are some stations which gose international like FUN RADIO if you don’t belive me then you can see the web site it’s funradio.fr or funradio.be . ya your view is also rit.FM radio(Kantipur) a huge invester may dominate small stations but ultimatlly the target i mean listeners will benifit there will be more choice.
