हैनन् भने सात सालको क्रान्तिमा शहीद बनेका चार व्यक्तित्त्वको टाउको माथि त्रिभुवनको शालिक वर्षौँदेखि किन रहेको छ ? कुन चाकडिबाजले कालगतिले मरेका राजा त्रिभुवनको शालिकलाई शहीदको नाममा बनेको स्मारकमा सबैभन्दा माथि स्थान दिएको हो ? शहीदको टाउकोमा राजा त्रिभुवन बसेको दृश्य पचाउन नसकेरै त होला, जनआन्दोलन-२ पछि प्रधानमन्त्री र मन्त्रीहरु शपथ खाएपछि यहाँ फूलमाला चढाउन आएनन्। र, शायद त्यसैले आजको शहीद दिवसका दिन यहाँ अौपचारिक कार्यक्रम गर्ने परम्परा पनि तोडिएको छ।
शहीद दिवसमा हुने सबै अौपचारिक कार्यक्रमहरु लैनचौरस्थित शहीद स्मारकमा भए। संवैधानिक अंगका प्रमुखदेखि लिएर अरु सबै पनि त्यहीँ भेला भएका थिए।
अब कुनै विदेशी पाहुना आउँदा पनि यहाँ नल्याई लैनचौरतिरै लाने हुन् कि के हो ? फोटो सौजन्यः nature_dev
शहीद गेटमा भने राजावादीहरु भेला भएछन्। अनि, मेरो संसारका पाहुना ब्लगरसमेत रहनुभएका दीपक भट्टराईको अघि केटिभीमा बजेको रिपोर्ट अनुसार शहीद गेटमा राजावादी मात्र हैन, माअोवादी नेताहरु पनि गएका रहेछन्। ऐरेगैरे नेताहरु मात्र हैनन्, डेपुटी कमाण्डर प्रभाकरसमेत गएका रहेछन्। राजावादीहरुले ल्याएको फूलको गुच्छा पैँचो मागेर शहीदप्रति श्रद्धाञ्जलि अर्पण गरेछन्। अरु सबै लैनचौर जाँदा यी माअोवादी नेताहरु भने माथिपट्टी राजाको शालिक भएको ठाउँमा किन गएका होलान्, अचम्म लाग्यो मलाई त !

We should not challenge history. It is something to remember and take lesson and do correction at present. We can take it as what ever happened at that time was the necessity and we have to change as per the present requirement. And in this we should not do lots of comment about the past use bad words for that.

I think Prashant makes a good point.
I am of the opinion, by any stretch of imagination, Tribhuwan is not a shahid.
On the other point, all those whom we call Shahids today, we ought to look at them whether or not they actually are. Fighting for Raja and fighting for Rajya/desh is not the same. In the past, rajabadis have created a big confusion on what is a partitism. Chaplusi and chakadi and first class of sycophancy is labelled as “deshbhakti” and love for the motherland is equated with a chakadi to a raja. By that standard, Kamal Thapa, Surya Bahadur, Lokendra Bahadur, Prakash Chandra Lohani, Tulsi Giri, Kirtinidhi, Badri Mandal, Shrish Shamser, Durga Pokhrel, et al would have been declared as “living shahid” or “jyudo shahid”.

If we take out Tribhuwan from the equation then the equation will become extremely convoluted. Which means… those four Martyrs Dasarath Chand, Ganga Lal, Sukar Raj Shastri and Dharma Bhakta will became nothing but the Rajabadi Mandale. Sounds ugly isn’t it.
Lets think.. they were all revolting against Ranas tyranny but not the “Raja Tribhuwan”. With that note (in the current context of redefining shah dynasty) they will not qualify as Martyrs of our country and are just a bunch of Rajabadi who are praised by Rajas, Raja’s Laukes and et al. Ugly ugly ugly.. not good.
I am pretty sure all four are giving me “Sraap” from their grave. Forgive me Martyrs but we are in the process of redefining the Martyrs of our country.
Wan’t to see views of rest of the fellas… on this note.

Good point. I was always asking myself whenever i was passing through SAHID GATE, we did not read King Tribhuvan as sahid but why this fellow idol(statue)at SAHID GATE. TYO PANI SAHID HARU BHANDA MATHI????

Tribhuvan approved of the death penalty of his own personal trainer Dharma Bhakta Mathema and three others due to fear from Rana that he would be deprived from mistresses.
He could have easily refused to sign on the death penalty for approval since Rana were going to do nothing against him as he was already deprived of power. But, he did not care about the people al all. He was a coward, not a martyr.

You have brought again right issues. I could not stop without commenting on them.
The history indeed should be rewritten. I support the opnion 100%. The wrong work was done in the Panchayat/Mahendra regime to put tribhuwan’s statue.
As long as the statue of Tribhuwan (on the top of the four shahids, really funny, I had reacted about it when I entered first time into Kathmandu valley in 2039) is concern, it is absolutely wrong to put his statue there. People have now developed their political awareness and it is increasing day by day. The real fact is that Tribhuwan went to India to protect his crown, not to fight for democracy. His statue should be taken down and replace it by Bhim Datta Panta who was killed by the Panchyat regime when they were launching ‘Kisan Andolan’ in the western Nepal or brave peple hwo lost their lives during the Nalapani war against the Indo-British regime.
As the another issue of CPN (M)leaders including deputy commander Prabhakar is concern, I believe, they went to pay due respect to those who were killed by Rana regime. As said above, Tribhuwan is not a Shahid. This would have been more appropriate if they had spoken to dimantle Tribhuwan’s statue.
I agree fully as one of the commentetor has hinted towards to make Shahid Park or Sahid Bagaicha to respect for those who gave their lives for democracy and for liberation of the country and people from the Rana and Shah regimes. The number is becoming countless.

He is one of the weak kings of Shah Dynasty. I do not think he is the victim. Yes he helped the Democratic front because he himself was controlled by the Ranas. He has to be thanked for that but his weak character allowed the Ranas to control him. It is time to rewrite the true history of Nepal.

All four martyer were killed when Tribhuwan was king. And, the king is a King and martyer were “praja” and the place of King is always higher than “praja”. I think this was the message from the artist.
