वीरगञ्जमा आज प्रदर्शनकारीहरुमाथि गोली चलाउन प्रहरी पोजिसन लिँदै। त्यहाँ भएको भिडन्तमा एक दर्जनभन्दा बढी घाइते भएका छन्।
दुई सातादेखि विद्रोह भडकिएको तराईबाट आइतबार फेरि ३ जनाको ज्यान गएको दुःखद समाचार आएको छ। दिनदिनै जसो मृत्युको खबर सुन्न फेरि हामी नेपाली बाध्य भएका छौँ। अब तराईको तनावमा मर्नेको संख्या कम्तीमा २० पुगेको छ। यसैबीच, आन्दोलनकारीहरुको माग बमोजिम गृहमन्त्री कृष्णप्रसाद सिटौलाले अन्ततः राजीनामा दिनुहुने भएको छ। मधेशी जनअधिकार फोरमका तर्फबाट वार्ताका लागि तोकिएका नेता सीतानन्दन रायले गृहमन्त्रीको राजीनामा नआएसम्म वार्तामा नबस्ने अडान राखेका थिए। त्यति मात्र हैन, गिरिजापुत्री सुजाताले समेत सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रमबाटै राजीनामा मागेपछि गिरिजाका प्रियपात्र गृहमन्त्रीको पद खतरामा परेको हो। आठ दल गठबन्धनका अन्य घटकहरुले पनि गृहमन्त्रीको राजीनामा मागेका थिए।
वीरगञ्जमा गोली चलेपछि मच्चिएको भागदौड।
आज तीनै जना सर्लाहीमा मारिएका हुन्। कर्फ्युको उल्लंघन गर्दै सर्लाहीको मलंगवामा विशाल प्रदर्शन भएको थियो। त्यसै क्रममा भएको भिडन्तमा तीन जना मारिएका हुन् भने अस्ति भएको प्रदर्शनमा घाइते भएका एक जनाको पनि आज उपचार हुँदाहुँदै मृत्यु भएको हो।
मारिनेमा सर्लाहीको सलेमपुरका रामेश्वर शाह, गमहरियाका दिनेश राय र मलङ्गवा वडा नम्बर ५ का अब्दुल बहाव मिक्रानीका १७ वर्षका छोरा मिक्रानी रहेका छन् । श्रीपुर ६ का राम एकवाल यादव भने हिजोको भिडन्तमा घाइते भएका थिए र आज उपचारको क्रममा मृत्यु भएको थियो।
कर्फ्यु लगाइएपछि मधेशी जनअधिकार फोरमले आज हुने भनिएको प्रदर्शनको कार्यक्रमलाई स्थगित गरे पनि भीड उर्लिएर प्रदर्शन गरेको थियो।
वीरगञ्जमा घाइतेलाई ठेलामा राखी अस्पतालतिर लग्दै।
प्रदर्शनकारीका तर्फबाट पनि गोली चलाइएपछि प्रहरी गोली चलाउन बाध्य भएको भन्ने खबर आएको छ। तर प्रदर्शनकारीहरुबाट गोली चलेको भन्ने कुरा साँच्चिकै हो कि कमल थापा गृहमन्त्री हुँदा गरिएको दावी जस्तो हो, कसरी थाहा पाउने होला ? खबर अनुसार केही प्रहरी पनि घाइते भएका छन्। घाइते मध्ये दुई प्रहरीलाई उपचारका लागि काठमाडौँ ल्याइएको छ।
वीरगञ्जमा पनि आज हिंसात्मक प्रदर्शन भयो। स्थानीय प्रशासनले बिहान ८ बजेदेखि बेलुकी ७ बजेसम्म कर्फ्यु लगाएको थियो। तर ठूलो संख्यामा भीड घण्टाघरमा भेला हुन थालेपछि स्थानीय प्रशासनले बाध्य भएर कर्फ्यु हटाउनु परेको थियो। कर्फ्यु हटाएपछि प्रदर्शनकारीहरुले जिल्ला प्रशासन कार्यालयमा प्रवेश गरी तोडफोड गरेका थिए।
यस क्रममा प्रहरीले गोली चलाउँदा १५ जना प्रदर्शनकारी घाइते भएछन्।
वीरगञ्जमा कर्फ्यु लागेर सुनसान भएको सडकमा नारा कोर्दै एक प्रदर्शनकारी।
यसैबीच, राष्ट्रसंघीय मानवअधिकार उच्चायुक्तको कार्यालयले तराई क्षेत्रमा भइरहेका हिंसात्मक घटनाप्रति गम्भीर चासो देखाउँदै थप मृत्यु र गम्भीर घाइते हुने क्रमलाई रोक्न उचित कदम तत्काल चाल्न आग्रह गरेको छ। उच्चायुक्तको कार्यालयले हालसम्ममा १६ जनाको मृत्यु भएको पुष्टि भइसकेको बताएको छ।
वीरगञ्जको बसपार्कमा रहेको आफ्नो पसल प्रदर्शनकारीहरुले लुटेपछि बिलौना गर्दै पसले।
कार्यालयको टोलीले पर्साको वीरगञ्जमा सुरक्षाकर्मीहरुले अत्यधिक शक्तिको प्रयोग गरेको देखेको उल्लेख गरेको छ। राष्ट्रसंघीय प्रतिनिधि लेना सुन्धले सुरक्षाकर्मीहरुलाई कानुन व्यवस्था कायम राख्न गार्हो भएको भए पनि कर्फ्यु लगाएको बहानामा मात्र ज्यानको खतरा नभएसम्म गोली चलाउनुलाई न्यायसंगत मान्न नसकिने उल्लेख गरेको छ। [सबै फोटो सौजन्यः रोयटर्स]

i am feeling very sad with the ongoing incidents happening in tetrai region for a few weeks.now, we are in the important moment to craft the new constitution which will pave the future of nepali people making them so sovereign and prosperous. so it is the right time to debate up on the contents of constitution with open mind and peceful ways. so i request madhesis people to be ready for negotiation and to stop all kinds of distruptive activities in no time . otherwise some regressive forces can take the advantage of this moment and push the country in before magh 19.

I don’t care about what Goit and Jwala singh says …..The popular voice of madhesh is on streets sacrificing lives…..try to listen to that…otherwise prepare yourselves for the worst. How can any madhesi leader talk to government when they have not even regretted brutal killings……Don’t talk about this new found harmony at this moment. This violence need to be stopped by using whatever means but of course, dialogue is the best approach. So, when they are demanding Home Minister’s resignation, he should have put it on paper a long time ago. BUT, I do not see any fault’s of Krishna Prasad Sitaula and I personally think that he is one of the best politicians we have in our country as comapared to most of the leaders. Now, He has agreed to resign and let’s hope that Dialogue will coomence soon BUT KRISHNA SIR, I stand by you…….You have not committed any crime not shown any autocratic aaproach. I have sympathy to the families of dead but it was necessary to curb more violence.

But I strongly condemn their some of their demands. They cannot make Terain Region part of Bihar or India. come on, think for the sovereignity and your rights after that.
Another thing; 19 people were killed in April Movement but more than 20 people are killed so far in Terain unrest. Think about it; April movement was seven parties aliance versus monarchy and now it is just terain versus the present government. Exccessive power was used then and now but more people are killed now than before. My point is, what is the difference between then government and now? Overall, all are politicians and they are very tactful in terms of blaming others for wrong.

So called movement in Tarai is now not in control Madheshi forum (the opportunist from different factions). Tarai Jatantantrik Mukti Morcha has already infiltrated in tee movement, which can be seen as the cruel murder of sub inspecter nearby Biratnagar. Looting Pahade has became so common. Thank to the Pahade for still showing patience and so far I know general Pahade always look for harmonious relations with each Nepal regardless of ethnicity, locality.
Resignation by Home Minister is the worst thing in present context.

Anyway optimism is the only way to face hard situation.

I don’t understand why all are behind Home Minister resignation. In my view, he is the only person in the history of Council of Ministers of Nepal who can be voted as one of the best minister of the country.. He is the key person to play a role to bring peace in the country and resolving the Maioist problem, with his cheerful and a silent personality. Lets think that in this situation if Kamal Thapa would have been the Home Minister then have we thought how much lives will have gone till now no “because we have already experienced it in “JANAANDOLAN II”..
Mr. Krishna Prasad is only the person who with his best ability and silent personality is trying to control the situation right now and resolve the problem of Terai.
I think that this is not the right time to sack him off asking for his resignation, instead of we should praise him to continue. This is the time to think how the problem of Terai will solve and we should support in solving the problem of terai but not asking the resignation of Home Minister.
Dear Friends, I am not a politician nor a supporter of the Home Minister. I am just a citizen of Nepal and loves my country very much.. I am a regular viewer of this website and i thanks Umesh jee who is fighting for the peace in the cournty with the power of his mind exploring through this website. I haven’t right any comments till now. But from the past few days i am just hearing about the resignation of the Home Minister which i can’t tolearate and i am expressing my views..
May be i am wrong in views and arguments of some person in the support of Home Minister. But i myself thought that i am right to support of the Home Minister in view of the current situation of our country.
Don’t u think a quote of this cournty “LEG PULLING OF A GOOD PERSON TRYING TO DO GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY” Why even Sujata Koirala and her collegues are behind his resignation. Because he is doing good for the country, just for the sake of Peace and prosperoty of this country.

Madhesi forum is being fueled by other unseen propagandists. They have no ideology. There is no reason to resign by the home minister. Madhesi forum wants to create the violence in the region. Upendra Yadav got sth. from the royal supporters. They will submit the unbearable demands in the table during the dialogue. They want to create dispute between Maoists and other parties. Forum and Maoist are the responsible for that disaster. We are Nepalese , no Pahades and no Madhes. They want to separate the country and join with Lalu.

The situation of Nepal now reminds me a show from Discovery Channel. A group of lions surround a huge elephant, start hunting and finally kill it, while groups of wolf, hyena, foxes, jackle and other meat-eaters seem watching remotely. After having quenched their hunger, lions go for a rest, then come all those wolf, hyena, jackle, foxes and wild dogs to take chance to quench their hunger with that left-over.
The current politics of Nepal has large similarity with the case in Jungle. A “Lion” party fought “old regime” for over a decade and finally toppled it, while others were watching the scene remotely. Once the “Prey” (= power) is ready to be relished by “Lion”, several racist runts are growling around to snatch the “Prey”. Certainly these runts seem much more clever than those seen in Discovery Channel. Let’s see, if all runts together can drive away the “Lion” and appropriate the “Prey” solely by them.

I really like this home minister Krisna Prasad Sitaula. I wonder why people want his resignation? It sure is sad thing that many terai basi have lost their lives. To stop anarchy government have to take some action…on that Mr. Sitaula should not be blamed for. Probably in the history of Nepali politics Nepali people have not seen such a good little leader. Maoists whould have never come to the table and signed the peace treaty if Mr. Sitaula had not put forth his best effort. Some anti national elements are really active to break apart our national sovereignty. We need to be very careful. What do you say friends?

Upendra Yadav is asking resignation from Home minister, but if the people of madhesh still dies in movement, who will take the responsibility, the new minister or Upendra Yadav? The movement is not at all under control of MJF.
The goverment and eight parties should address all the issues and fulfill all the demands whatever may be and endorse it through parliament ignoring the small groups like MJF who does not have any base in Madhesh. It is useles to give importance to MJF. The more important groups are JTMM. Thus, goverment should address all the demands through parliament at the earliest possible.

When I was in high school, I was in a hostel. My hostel accommodated students from different part of Nepal, Tarai, Himal, Pahad and some were even from India. There were people of different castes culture and ethnic group; there were Magars, Gurungs, Sherpas, Tamangs, Rai, Limbu, Bahun, Kahstries, Yadavs, Muslims, Newars and many more. We lived like a family; if I am analyzing correctly we didn’t have any discrimination in our mind, however, we kept offending each others.
I had quite a few best frineds, mostly from different caste and ethnic group, and one of them was from Birjung; he was Madhesi. He was dark, so we called him Kaluwa. Kaluwa was very close to me. I never called him but he was called Madhese, Dhoti all the time. He didn’t mind because that was the tradition of our hostel. He replied back them saying पाखे, भोटे, ज्यापु . Newars were called Jyapu, Madhesis were called Dhoti, Sherpa/Tamang/Magar/Guruing/even Rai-Limbu were called Bhote and Bahun/Kshatri were called Bahun or Chuch!
We were kids, who taught us this discrimination? Our tradition.. our culture…Our parents didn’t directly taught us but we indirectly learn from them. We are very uncivilized people… our tradition is based on discrimination. ..A multicultural society based on discrimination is like a time bomb… it can blast anytime.
Today, Madheshi are bringing this point again and again… They are saying that they are called Dhoti… they are called Madeshi. What is wrong with that? Dhoti is a pride of Indian subcontinent and Madesh is their motherland…
Words are not the problem. Words are lifeless, what gives life to them is mind. What is the state of your mind while using those words is important. For example: I use the word साला to my closest friends, with love; they feel happy with that word. If I use the same word with hatred, it will definitely bring disaster. Words themselves are lifeless mental volition gives them life.
When we use the word मदेशे ,पाखे, भोटे, ज्यापु with hatred and domination to offend people, it is wrong. ..This is what we usually do….I don’t except better from an uncivilized society like ours.
Our heart is burning with the fire of discrimination. Not only with Madheshes, the discrimination can be with anybody. Pahadis are called पाखे. to dominate them or to show them lower or uncivilized. नेवार are called ज्यापु and Mangolians are called भोटे. We have pretty bad culture to dominate others. I see this culture in highly educated people as well. We have to leave this…if we want a stable society. We have to learn to respect others.. We have to help others.
Madhesi brothers shouldn’t mind to if they are said Madhesi or Dhoti. They are part of the culture…either they have to show civilization to those offenders by being more civilized or they have to learn to offend back saying… पाखे, भोटे, ज्यापु etc.

गिरिहमन्त्रीको राजिनामा गराएर माओबादि संगको सान्ति सम्झौतालाइ संकटमा पार्ने खतरा देखिन्छ। किनभने उ बार्ता कमिटिको अध्यक्ष समेत रहेको र कतिपय दुबै पक्षको सुराक्षाको सबालसमेत अन्तरनिहित रहेको हुनाले गिरिहमान्त्रीको राजिनामाले मात्र समाधान हुन्छ भन्न खोजनु मुर्खता हो।

One resigns, Another comes. It’s matter of prestige. Life of 20 person for the resignation of Home Minister?
People are interested to know more about Sita Nandan Roy. Is he from any party, ‘Nagarik Samaj’ or what? Will there will new party in Madesh? Why any party is unable to lead Madeshi people? What will be position of parties (NC, UML, NSP(A), CPNM etc) after this in Madesh?
Sujata is asking for resignation of Sitaula? hhh! we can see why. It is not in his control as it was political issue not an administrative issue only. Anyway, Nobody will praise Sujata for demanding resignation.
Had Sitaula resigned in the first day, would there be no agitation in Tarai? But it is a different thing to resing on ethical ground. Anyway, If his resignation brings peace in the country he should happily do so.
It is still to see, if the agitation in Terai is a part of wider restructuring of the country or deviation to that process. Is CA poll in the agenda of Madhesi? It is about Interim constitution only. Will there be no bloodshed during the CA Poll and writing the constituition, or after its declararion if it does not fufill any demand of any party, group, community, sector and so on? Can our leader find a solution that pleases all inclusing King, Nepal Army,Maoist, NC, UML, NSP, NMKP, CPs, NCD, Madhesi, HIndu, Muslim, Buddhist, Kirant, Gurung, Mager, Bahun, Dalit, and so on and also the Doners, and goreign powers? What I didnt understand is who these demonsstrators are. MJF is an NGO. It is not even a political party. How can it be so popular overnight? It has no pupular base. Why media is not concerned with issue? I guess some people from accross the border are actively involved in leading the demonstratoins. They are involved in violating the curfew order. They are given money to do that. Just watch who are actively involved in violating curfew and who are on the front line. Arrest them and investigate. I am sure that they are not Nepalis. People say that Gorakhpur conference was initiated by the royalist. More than that is it was organized by the Indian Intellegence agency and royalist might have participated to take advantage of the situation. Now everyone is the victim of the covert design to disintegrate nepal. SABAILAI CHETANA BHAYAA.

When 20 persons were killed by Roylist govt. in Janandolan-2, King Gyanendra being made Crownless,home minister Kamal Thapa & other are prisoned, then why not KP Sitaula should resigned ?
He totally failed to maintain law and order but killing 4-5 Madheshi persons daily in so called Loktantra.Since nobody is saying that their demand is wrong,then what hidden cause hampering to address their demand.I think it becomes too late to address them.In this crisis all patriotic,intellectuals(mainly Pahade)should come infront and pressurise Girija and Prachand ,otherwise bad days are not so far and we all will not loose our identity as Nepali,can’t say.

When all the main stream media is giving one sided news, portraying Madhesi Andolankari as some sort of demon, I thank you for giving fare news. There are many things happening in terai. The incident that took place in hariwan yesterday is the precursor of incidents in malangawa but media is turning a blind eye to that. I have got news from cofirmed source that madhesi doctors of BPKIHS, Dharan who are organizing free treatment of those injured in Inarwa are being threatened…..Nobody is seriously trying to calm down the situation. What the hell are leaders who get elected from terai, whether pahare or madhise doing in kathmandu. The first thing is that government should look at this whole andolan respectfully. As londg as they will try to insult this revolt, the situation wil worsen further……I have been looking at the comments on this blog,,,,its full of hatred towards madhesi…I urge all to be sympathetic to just demands of madhesis.

Resignation of Home Minister is not a solution of the crisis. The state should run based on the state regulation. The demonstration going in the Terai region is not seemed a peaceful. Taking bamboo stick, knives and axe in the demonstration never be a peaceful demonstration. Those, who claim themselves as democrat, should always away from such activities. It is terror like demonstration. To stop such activities is a top most priority of the Home-minister.
Who will be responsible if somebody die after the resignation of the present home minister? Does Madhesi Forum take guarantee of the civilian after this?
So, negotiation with the government for the peaceful out let is only a way to get- ride- of this crisis.
