For me Sakuri is trying to point out the involvement of people in so called beauty contest of Nepal which is wastage of time for a country which is just trying to establish a political system in the country. “KAHI NABHAYEKO JATRA HADI GAON MA.” Who doesn’t know Nepal? You don’t need to organise beauty contest to introduce and publisize Nepal.
Why the sponsor of this beauty contest do not give the amount spent for this contest to a charity and have fame?
It seems Raj himself has personal interest and ego, if not from Mr Dhakal’s family. Nepalese people should know who is ruining our country; people from jungles or from cities like … … …?

How can the organizer of Miss Nepal procede such a competition without Maoist’s participation? Maoists do have beauties capable enough to win the beauty contest. The ordinary beauties do cat walk, Maosist beauties do Jungle Cat Walk. So who is superior? Pls be aware, Maoists always protest any event without Maoist’s involvement. And give some free passes to Maoists leaders, and see how they divert from their revolutionary Prachanda Path to sweet Urvashi Path.

Well I don’t understand why people are against beauty pagent. Country has other issues to address other then to protest for beauty pagent.
If the beautiful ladies can show their talent and participate then why are people against it.
May be they were angry because they were not the participants or may be people are jealous that some ladies will be earning some money.
People over there are making fool of themselves. Instead of protesting against the corruption, asking the govt. to provide basic needs like water, electricity, access to road, punishing the loan defaulters, creating independent jury, people are wasting their time on these beauty pagents.
I have never seen any event in the contest where the ladies have to be naked or show their body. Its just that they have to show their talent in certain category.
This is the “BIDAM BANA” of Nepal. People only know to follow others without using their brain whether it is right or not.

It is too early to have such beauty contests in Nepal. Our society and the country is not ready for such events . We are poor enough to pay such events and it is not a good idea to pay huge amount to watch ‘Sundaries’ whereas the ‘Sundaries’ do not contribute anything to the society and the nation like Nepal. Girls are just selling their beauties. Once I met a Miss Nepal, I am not impressed at all. I have not seen any such past beauties at responsible position or decision making rank or even influencing the society. Talented girls do not need such activities and do not need pass through such shows. You will find many many talented girls in every walk of life rising without such beauty cover. It is a beautiful mind not body that matters. Beautiful body is just good for a showcase and show events.

hi , what is the use of hitting and getting sticks ???i really dont understand what is the problem for these people. By this type of competition girl becomes fame and other women in same country can learn something and have endeavour to do something. I dont think its very bad.
Any way its upto the citizens whatever they think , but what i say is ,if they think like that keep on thinking but dont come to road with strikes and jams, do they think that by doing such stupid things they will be able to change this trend( which is being fame and industrialised day by day).

It’s not a surprise that maoists with their conservative and illiterate cadres would protest against the event and even try to disrupt it if they could.They still are living in 16th century where women are not allowed to express themselves. This is an act of discrimination against women, how can they still claim they will liberate them, hipocrates !!

FNCCI prez faces forgery charge

KATHMANDU, April 8 – Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of the apex body of business chambers, FNCCI, has been summoned by the government for swindling Rs 8.6 million by forging documents. Dhakal has so far ignored summons by the Revenue Investigation Department (RID).
According to our source, the government is all set to use police, if he further delays in producing himself to RID. Once Dhakal presents himself at RID, he will have to deposit a bail amount of Rs 25.5 million to avoid detention.
RID has alleged that Dhakal owned Momento Apparels, the largest garment factory of the country, cheated Rs 8.6 million in customs duty by producing forged documents at the bonded warehouse.
On his part, Chandi Raj Dhakal has denied being involved in any such forgery. “Some error might have happened about a year-and-a-half ago when my factory was gutted by fire. I’m investigating the case, and will produce facts before the government soon,” he said.
Dhakal said that the responsible person of Momento Apparels was out of the country now, so he was taking time to reply to the government summons.
Under the bonded warehouse facility, all export-oriented companies including readymade garments are allowed to import raw materials at zero percent duty. However, exporters are required to submit cash deposit or bank guarantee equivalent to customs duty applicable on the materials, plus VAT.
The duty paid is refunded after the importer exports the finished goods made from the imported raw materials. Momento Apparels did not export the garment products made from the imported consignment of fabrics, but only produced fake documents and got the duties refunded.
Sources told The Kathmandu Post that Dhakal’s defiance has irritated the government. “The limit to tolerance has been exceeded, it is time to take action,” said a high level source at the Ministry of Finance.
The source said that given his position as the president of the apex body of the private sector, Dhakal was given enough time to arrange a bail amount of Rs 25.5 million ever since the scam was detected about a month ago.
As per the Revenue Leakages (Investigation and Control) Act 2052, a defendant is required to submit a bail worth double the claimed amount to avoid detention.
According to our source, Dhakal has been avoiding RID interrogation on the pretext of ill health. However, he was seen live on state-owned television as a judge of the Miss Nepal beauty pageant.
The RID issued the first summons on April 1, asking him to be present on April 3, but Dhakal did not bother. He was then contacted on phone by RID officials and gave assurances that he would submit himself on Thursday or Friday.
The Momento Apparel’s forgery was first traced during an on-site audit inspection of Auditor General’s office and put the amount as arrears in the name of Department of Cust-oms. The Customs Department then handed-over the case to the RID given its complexities.
The arrears amount by Auditor General’s office in the similar category is over Rs 120 million. So, it is likely that other garment industries might also come under investigation.
It seems the government has decided to take serious action against FNCCI president Dhakal. As per our political source, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat have signaled the RID to take action as per law.
If indicted, Dhakal can face a jail term up to three years, and will have to pay Rs 25.5 million in fine.

The ptotest was very inhuman. One can not be this conservative at this point of the century. Yes, we need to develop every field, is the another story, but what is there for so long should be there and that is indeed “Miss Nepal”. Protestors are so much “Kuwako vyaguta”. I don’t think the girls would walk naked on the stage. Every Nepali girl knows the limitation, and the one who does not know the limitation does not have to be any miss nepal. There are good and bad people all over, it is kind of universal.

खुलेआम शरीर बेचेर जिविकोपार्जन गर्न वाध्य महिलाहरू को विवशता समादान गर्न कोशिस गर्नु परेन , तर होटेलमा त्यो काम गर्न वाध्य भएका महिलालाई नाङ्गै घुमाएर ( आन्दोलनताका कोटेस्वर र केही पछि रत्नपार्कमा पनि यसो गरिएको थियो ) कुन खालको साँस्कृतिक जागरण हुने हो ?
त हो तर यसको समर्थन र बिरोध दुवैमा समय खर्चिने हरुले यो ‘शो’ को राम्रो विज्ञापन गरिरहेका छन , बिना इन्डोर्समेन्ट र बिना पारिश्रमिक । सुरक्षा त पुलिसले दिनै पर्यो , कसैले बिरोध गर्दैमा यस्तो ‘शो’ नै रोक्न पाइन्छ र ? रोक्नै पर्ने कुरा त नेपालमा अरू हजारबटा बन्दा माथि होलान ! मान्छे मार्ने कुरा त नरोकिएको मुलुकमा यस्ता झिनामसिना शो रोकेर केही हुने वाला छैन ।रोक्न सक्छौ भने महिला बिरुद्दको घरेलु हिंसा रोक,उनीहरूले घृणित ठानिएको काम गर्नु पर्ने वाध्यता सिर्जना गर्ने परिस्थिति रोक, बालमजदूरी र वालकलाई बन्दूक बोकाउन रोक ( संरा मिसनले माओवादीमा हजारौँ वालसेना रहेको खुलासा गरिसकेको छ , रिपोर्ट पढ्नु )
हरेक कुरामा जुलुस र तमाशा खडा गरेर रडाको मच्चाउनु भन्दा सही मुद्दामा ध्यान पुग्ने कहिले होला यो मुलुकमा ?

Its not bad to be a Miss Nepal. I just dont understand why the people has so many bad ideas about Miss Nepal. Is that not a celebrity? Do we think being a Miss Nepal is bad reputation? Well, if anybody has such ideas then he or she needs to make brain broad and see around the world whats going on. Just dont keep your brain within urself too narrow.

i don’t see a rationale of such beauty pageant or whatever it is called.
and i don’t see any point in protesters’ arguments. they are giving more importance to an event which is not worth spending a few minutes. the best way of protesting it is neglecting it.
why the fuss? let them organise whatever they want to organise. there are so many creative things that the protesters could do rather than opposing some shitty-stuff.
well, to do something creative, you have to have something, determination and commitment whereas to react to others job is too easy!
