अमेरिकामा बसेर आफूलाई नेपाली काँग्रेस दलसँग सम्बद्ध बताउँदै नेपालकै जस्तो फोहोरी राजनीतिमा लागेर एकअर्कालाई आरोप-प्रत्यारोप गर्दै नानाथरीका कुराहरु गर्नेहरुका लागि सायद बेलायतकै इतिहासमा पहिलोपटक नेपाली नागरिकले काउन्सिलरजस्तो सम्मानित पद प्राप्त गरेको समाचारले बुद्धि खुलाउने काम गरोस् भन्दै यो ध्यानाकर्षण गराइएको हो।
उत्तर अमेरिकामा बसाइ रहेका आफूलाई नेपाली कांग्रेसको खम्बा बताउने नेपालीहरुमध्ये धेरैले अमेरिकी नागरिकता नै लिइसकेका होलान् भने कतिपय अमेरिकी नागरिकता लिने क्रममा आतुर होलान् र कतिपय बिना कागज यतै डलर कमाउन र आफ्नो आर्थिक स्थिति सुधार गर्न मै व्यस्त होलन् । तर तिनीहरु सबैलाई मोह नेपाली फोहरी राजनीतिको छ ।
हामी विदेशमा बस्नेहरुले नेपालको राजनीतिमा चाहना राख्न नहुने भन्ने होइन तर फलानो दल र ढिस्कानो दल भनेर यहाँ सम्पर्क समितिहरु बनाउने भन्दा पनि नेपालमा लोकतन्त्रको स्थापनाको पक्षमा अर्थात् राजतन्त्रको अन्त्यका लागि हामीले विदेशबाट समस्त लोकतान्त्रिक पद्दतिका लागि काम गर्ने दलहरुलाई एक भएर मुलुकको विकास गर्न प्रेरित गर्न सक्यो भने पो त नेपालका लागि हामी विदेशमा बस्नेहरुको त्यो ठूलो योगदान हुन सक्ला ।
हैन, राजनीति नै गर्ने इच्छा छ भने आउनुहोस् मित्रहरु, उत्तर अमेरिकाको राजनीतिमा खुट्टो हाल्नुहोस् । स्थानीय नगरस्तरको पार्टी कार्यकर्ता भएर राजनीति गर्नुहोस् । तपाइँ आखिर कुनै न कुनै प्रकारले “हैन म पछि देश फर्कन्छु” भन्दाभन्दै यहीँ बिलाइसक्नुहुनेछ- त्यो तपाईंको यथार्थ हो। चाहे तपाईं ग्रिनकार्ड लिएर मात्र बस्नुभएको किन नहोस् । तपाईं उत्तर अमेरिकाको डेमोक्र्याटिक वा रिपब्लिक दलको सामान्य सदस्य भएर प्रवेश गर्नुहोस् र अमेरिकी राजनीतिमा छिर्नुहोस् । अमेरिकामा पनि नेपालीहरुको जनसंख्या दिनप्रतिदिन बढ्दो छ। यसर्थ त्यतातिर बरु लाग्नुभयो भने यहाँ बस्ने नेपालीहरु र नेपालकै लागि पनि हामीले प्रशस्त काम गर्न सक्छौँ । होइन नेपालकै जस्तो फोहोरी राजनीति गर्दा न तपाईंलाई फाइदा छ, न त अमेरिकामा बस्ने नेपालीहरुले नै त्यसबाट कुनै फाइदा लिन सक्नेछन् । नेपालको राजनीति गर्नु छ भने मित्रहरु तपाईंहरु नेपाल जानुहोस्। प्रजातान्त्रिक अभ्यासका सायद् धेरै कुराहरु अमेरिकामा सिक्नुभयो होला , त्यो कुरा अरुहरुलाई पनि सिकाउनुहोस् । यसैमा तपाईंको कल्याण हुनेछ ।
बेलायतमा एक नेपाली मूलका नागरिकले गरेको चुनावी प्रतिष्पर्धाबाट राजनीतिमा अगाडि आएको बारेमा प्रकाशित मे ७ मा कान्तिपुरमा प्रकाशित एक समाचार पढ्नुहोस् सायद त्यो पढेपछि तपाईंमा पनि केही नयाँ परिवर्तन हुन्छ कि -
होइन, नामका अगाडि डाक्टर राखेर अमेरिकाका प्रतिष्ठित विश्वविद्यालयमा अध्ययन गरेर पनि उही नेपाली फोहोरी राजनीतिको पछि लागेर यहाँ गुट उपगुटप्रति आकर्षित हुनुहुन्छ, म फलानो काँग्रेस, एमाले, जनमोर्चा, सद्भावना, राप्रपा लगायतका अन्य सबै दलको सम्पर्क समितिको मान्छे हुँ भनेर तपाईंहरु हिड्नुमा कुनै तुक छ जस्तो लाग्दैन ।
नेपालबाट आफ्नो आर्थिक पक्ष दरो बनाउन र आफ्नो व्यक्तिगत स्वार्थका लागि तपाईं अमेरिका आउनुभएको छ तर तपाईंलाई नेपालमा हुँदा विश्वविद्यालयमा वा गाविस र नगरमा रहेर आफू काँग्रेसको फलानो पदमा थिएँ भन्दै विगतमा गरेको राजनीतिलाई विदेशमा बसेर आफ्नो भित्री तुष मेट्नुको कुनै अर्थ छैन । हैन तपाईं त्यसैमा आफूलाई नेपालमा रहेको दलको ठूलो मान्छे ठान्नुहुन्छ र विदेश विभाग नै आफूले चलाएको ठान्नुहुन्छ भने भने त मेरो भन्नु केही छैन ।
बरु आउनुहोस्, विगतमा क्यालिफोर्नियामा रोजर अधिकारीले अमेरिकी राजनीतिमा प्रतिष्पर्धा गर्नुभएको थियो र अझै गर्दै हुनुहुन्छ त्यस्तो राजनीति गर्नुहोस्। त्यस्ता कुराहरुलाई तपाईँहरुले पनि अंगाल्न सक्नुपर्छ । तबमात्र तपाईँमा राजनीतिक चेतना छ भन्ने ठानिन्छ ।
त्यसैगरी हालै बेलायतको राजनीतिमा नेपालीमूलका एक नागरिक स्थानीय जिल्लास्तरको एक काउन्सिल बन्न पुगेका छन् राजनीति नै गर्नुछ भने बरु त्यस्तो राजनीति गर्नुहोस् ।
समाचार पढ्नुभएको छैन भने एक पटक पुनः कान्तिपुरबाट साभार गरिएको यो समाचार पढ्नुहोस् ।

लन्डन, वैशाख २३ – बेलायतकै इतिहासमा पहिलोपटक नेपाली नागरिकले काउन्सिलरजस्तो सम्मानित पद प्राप्त गरेका छन् । पूर्व बेलायती सैनिक धन गुरुङले गत ३ मेमा सम्पन्न स्थानीय निर्वाचनमा ८ सय ६५ मत ल्याई फोक्सटन टाउनको काउन्सिलर पद जितेका हुन् । प्रत्येक चार वर्षा हुने यो निर्वाचन जिल्लास्तरको मानिन्छ । उनले आगामी मंगलबार पदको शपथग्रहण गर्ने कार्यक्रम छ ।
गतवर्षमात्र बेलायती नागरिकता लिन सफल गुरुङ बेलायतको तेस्रो ठूलो पार्टर्ीीलबरल डेमोक्रेट्सका तर्फाट निर्वाचनमा सहभागी थिए । बेलायतको राजनीतिमा नेपाली नागरिकले उम्मेदवारी पाएर प्रतिनिधित्व गरेको यो पहिलो अवसर हो । निर्वाचनमा उनका प्रतिद्वन्द्वी पिपुल फस्ट पार्टर्ीी नेताहरूले झीनो मतमात्र प्राप्त गरेका थिए । गुरुङले यस जितलाई समस्त नेपालीको जितका रूपमा लिएका छन् । ‘बेलायतको राजनीतिमा टेक्ने साहस गरेको छु, यसले अब अरूलाई पनि राजनीतिमा लाग्न बाटो खोलिदिएको छ,’ उनको टिप्पणी छ । विजयपछि उनले आन्दोलनरत भूपू गोर्खालीका केन्द्रीय मुद्दा समाधानमा पहल गर्ने बताए । ‘मेरो बुद्धि, विवेकले भ्याएसम्म गोर्खालीका समस्या पार्टर्ीीे नेतृत्व पंक्तिसम्म पुर्याउनेछु,’ उनले भने- ‘कानुनको दायराभित्र रहेर गोर्खाली वा नेपाली दाजुभाइलाई पर्ने दुःखमा मेरो सहयोग सधैं रहिरहनेछ ।’
सन् २००४ मा सैनिक सेवाबाट अवकाश पाएपछि उनले राजनीतितिर चासो दिएका हुन् ।
उनी लिबरल डेेमोक्रेट्सको सदस्यता लिएर झन्डै दर्ुइ वर्षउसका विभिन्न च्यारिटी अभियानमा सक्रिय थिए । ‘मेरो लगनशीलता, इमानदारिता र परिश्रमी स्वभाव देखेर त्यति ठूलो पार्टर्ीी पत्यायो,’ उनी गर्व गर्छन्- ‘ममाथि आएको यो चुनौती पूरा गर्नु नै मेरो पहिलो ध्येय हुनेछ । यसमा सबै नेपालीको साथ हुने अपेक्षा पनि छ ।’
मेचीको झापामा जन्मिएका गुरुङले सैनिक सेवाको १८ वर्षसमयावधि बेलायत, अफगानिस्तान, बोस्नियालगायतका मुलुकमा बिताएका थिए । गीत-संगीत सौखिन गुरुङका केही गीतिसंग्रहसमेत र्सार्वजनिक भइसकेका छन् ।

Your argument is faulty. First of all, Roger Adhikari is not Nepalese. The very moment he became American citizen, he gave up his Nepalese citizenship and therefore the rights to actively partcipate in Nepalese politics. And second, Nepalese people wherever they live in the world, as long as they maintain their citizenship, have right to participate in and debate about their country’s politics. They are doing their citizenship by maintaining their interest in their country. Just by holding piece of paper called ‘nagarikta’, you cannot maintain your citizenship, it comes along with your duties to your country. You have failed on that regard, and so has Mr Roger Adhikari. At a time, when country needs someone of his (Adhikari)caliber to be part of Nepalese politics and be part of making of new , prosperous Nepal, he seems to care more about issues in some county in California.
Get a life dude, Nepalese in America have right to participate in their country’s business.

All Nepalese living in Nepal and elsewher in the world should voice for common good of Nepal. Gynendra and Paras remain the public enemy number one for Nepal. There will be no arm insergency once monarchy is abolished. All the arms are now locked and if Monarchy is not abolished Nepal’s peace process will be derailed once again.
It seems obvious that Nepalese people living in Nepal and else where has no respect for Gynendra and Paras. They have been involved in many crimes. Nepal can better utilize all the resources royal palace consuming everyday.
Please abolish monarchy and establish inclusive multiparty democracy by ballot with transparency and freedom of speech. Make harsh laws against corruption.

This issue is relevant to all the Nepalese who have been in abroad not only in USA but also even in India. Are u aware about the many organizations exercising as the sister organizations of major political parties i.e. NC, UML, CPM(M) and different factions of Janamorcha Nepal in India. I fully agree with you that Nepalese residing in foreign contries should have only ONE organization basically to fight for the rights of Nepalese. Rather, this has not happen so. All organizations of Nepalese people in India, I don’t know about of USA, are the puppet of political parties. This has devided Nepalese in achieving common goal.

If you are still a Nepali citizen it is useless to think that you should be thinking about American Politics. Remember – the first thing that people think is themselves. It is just fanatic idea to think of selfless being. They are really few. It is just an ideology not the reality. The reality is 99 percent folks in this world are selfish. And that is the reality. All these people talking out here have a hope and desire to go back to Nepal and give something to Nepal society. It is great that these people think about there society back home. It is not a bad idea to involve with your real life out here. But it is a bad bad bad idea to forget your roots. I love my roots and I want to go there and do what ever I can. I do not agree fully on your view. Earning living is is a need and you cannot blame someone for being here to earn. Many people here have necessity to be here and get green card and citizenship. One of them is yourself. You should not abuse people who are hoping to get US citizen or green card. Many people might have taken citizen and green card just to sustain their necessity. Politics should be and can be done from anywhere in your capacity as far as someone does not offend others. Blaming game is another thing. But being a Nepali, staying abroad and getting involved in politics is a valid approach. One should not have to be in Nepal.
What do you mean? Does that mean any people staying away from Nepal should not get involved in Nepalese business/politics? When you write you should give a proof of why is it dirty out there from that person? Seems that you do not get along with whoever you are writing about and its seems obvious you have personal anger with him. When you are not happy with one person, you should not touch all Nepalese staying abroad.People have rights to get involved in clean politics from anywhere.
Looks like you are one of the dirty players as well. If you have anger with one person, you should not blame all nepalese or a party.
Please note you must know that the couselor from Britain and Nepali politician from California must be taking an active participation in Nepali politics. What do you think of them then? They do politics for both countries.
So this is just a request to be more open minded and when writing about one person, you should not include all the nepalese or a party abroad. People’s participation in their capacity should be welcomed as far as it does not hurt. Every revolutions in Nepal started away from Nepal.

I have seen variety of people who do not think any hesitation to teach others irrespective of what they know in reality.We had Nepali people in the US who opined that everyone in the country should support the King and those who did not were not nationalist. Whats wrong in getting uniting in this land and this is of those who were some how working together in Nepal. This is just something like reunion.

I agree with this article. It does not give any sense to relate yourself with a particular political party back in Nepal (though you can be a memebr/well-wisher, that is your personal right). But, to me they are completely “idiot” who still present their identity with a particular Nepali political party in US. You are Nepali first, then you may be well-wisher of a party, but that is not your introduction (you are not Congress first).
