नाइजेरियनहरुबाट ठगिएका नेपालीको करुण व्यथा
नमस्ते। माफ गर्नुस्, म आफ्नो सही नाम बताउन सक्दिनँ। मेरो काठमाडौँमा एक सानोतिनो व्यापार छ। झण्डै चार महिना जति अगाडि मेरो एक जना साथीमार्फत् एउटा नाइजेरियन मान्छेसँग भेट भयो। उसले आफूलाई फूटबल खेलाडी (मनाङ मर्स्याङ्दीबाट खेल्ने) भएको बतायो। त्यसको एक हप्तापछि त्यो नाइजेरियन फेरि मेरो पसलमा आयो। उसले एउटा राम्रो व्यापारको प्रस्ताव राख्यो। त्यो मान्छे नक्कली अमेरिकी डलरको व्यापार गर्दो रहेछ। म चाँडै धनी हुने सपना देखेर उसको डलर व्यापारमा आकर्षित भएँ।
मैले यो कुरा मेरो एउटा नजिकको साथीलाई बताएँ। उसले पनि निकै चासो दियो। यसो अलिकति गरेर हेरौँ भनेर उसले मलाई हौस्यायो। मैले त्यो नाइजेरियनलाई फेरि सम्पर्क गरेँ। उसले हामीलाई विश्वास दिलाउन ठमेलको एउटा होटलमा लग्यो। त्यहाँ उसको अरु दुई जना साथीहरु रहेछन्। उनीहरुले हामीलाई तुरुन्तै दुई वटा १०० डलरको नोट (एकै नम्बरको) बनाएर दिए र बैंकमा गएर चलाउन भने। यदि बैंकले यो डलर नोट समात्यो भने हामी जिम्मेवारी, पुलिसलाई यही होटलमा लिएर आए हुन्छ भने। हामीलाई विश्वास लाग्यो।
त्यो नोट लिएर हामी बैंक गयौँ। बैंकमा त्यो नोट सजिलै साटियो। त्यसपछि हामीलाई हौसला भयो। हामीले उनीहरुसँग कुरा अघि बढायौँ। पहिला १००० डलरको बनाउने सोच भयो। अर्को हप्ता हामीले एक हजार डलर तयार पार्यौँ र त्यो नाइजेरियनलाई सम्पर्क गर्यौँ। फेरि त्यही होटल मनाङमा गयौँ। हाम्रो पैसा लिएर उनीहरुले धमाधम नक्कली नोट बनाउन थाले। झण्डै पाँच मिनेटपछि एकाएक जम्मै नोट बिग्रियो। १००० डलर पाँच मिनेटमा सबै खत्तम भयो। मेरो साथी नीलोकालो भयो। हाम्रो सम्पर्कमा चिनिएको नाइजेरियनले चिन्ता लिन पर्दैन, हामी फेरि बनाइदिन्छौँ भन्यो। हामी खिन्न भएर फर्कियौँ।
त्यो नाइजेरियन भोलिपल्ट फेरि मेरो पसलमा आयो। उसले केमिकल सकिएको र त्यो लिन नाइजेरिया नै जानु पर्ने बतायो। त्यसको लागि प्लेन टिकट खर्च समेत माग्यो। एक त एक हजार डलर स्वाहा भइसकेको छ, के गर्ने के गर्ने भयो। उसलाई पैसा दिन विश्वास नै लागेन। उसले विश्वास नलागे उही नाइजेरिया मै गएर बनाएर ल्याउन सल्लाह दियो। मैले साथीलाई भेटेर कुरा राखेँ। हामी नाइजेरिया मै गएर बनाएर ल्याउने सोचमा पुग्यौँ।
त्यो नाइजेरियनले हामीलाई यतिसम्म विश्वास दिलायो कि उसकी श्रीमति पनि काठमाडौँ, लाजिम्पाटमा बस्दिरहिछ। लाजिम्पाटको नर्सरी गल्ली, होटल गुअङ दोङ पछाडि। त्यो घर डक्टरको हो रे। नारायणहिटी दरबारको कुकुरको डक्टर। लाजिम्पाट मै दयाश्वर महादेव मन्दिर नजिकै राजु बाजेको घरमा पनि एक हुल नाइजेरियन बस्दा रहेछन्। हामीले तिनीहरुलाई पनि भेट्यौँ। तिनीहरुको पनि त्यही धन्दा रहेछ। त्यहाँ एउटा नाइजेरियनले मलाई अर्को नक्कली सय डलर दियो र चलाउन भन्यो। मैले त्यसलाई ठमेलको एक मनी एक्सचेञ्जमा साटेँ। त्यसपछि हामीलाई निकै विश्वास भयो।
नाइजेरियामा गएर बनाउने भएपछि १० हजार डलरभन्दा तलको बन्दैन भनेर त्यो नाइजेरियनले बतायो। हुन पनि हो, त्यति टाढा पुगेर बनाउने भएपछि अलिकति धेरै नै बनाउने सोच भयो। मेरो साथी र मैले एक हप्ताभित्र १० हजार प्लस १० हजार गरी २० हजार डलर जम्मा पार्यौँ।
दुई हप्ताअगाडि त्यो डलर बनाउने दुई जना सहित दिल्ली हुँदै हामी नाइजेरियाको लागोस पुग्यौँ। तिनीहरुले हामीलाई एउटा राम्रो होटलमा राखे र उनीहरु आफ्नो घर गए। त्यही रात साढे ११ बजे होटलमा कसैले ढोका ढकढकायो।
मैले ढोका खोलेँ।
दुई जना अपरिचित मान्छे थिए।
ढोका खोल्नासाथ उनीहरु दुवैले पेस्तोल तेर्स्याए। हामीले चुपचाप हात उठायौँ। उनीहरुले हामीसँग भएको पैसा सबै लिएर गए र तुरुन्त होटल छाड्नु भने। हामीले तुरुन्तै होटल रिसेप्सनमा गएर खबर गर्यौँ। रिसेप्सनमा कसैलाई पनि कोही होटलभित्र छिरेको थाहा छैन रहेछ। पक्कै पनि त्यो लुटेरा होटल मै होला भनेर हामीले पुलिसलाई खबर गर्यौँ। हामीलाई लिएर आउने नाइजेरियनलाई सम्पर्क गर्न उसले दिएको नम्बरमा फोन गर्यौँ। त्यो नम्बरमा त त्यो नामको मान्छे नै रहेनछ।
पुलिस एक घण्टापछि आयो र हामीलाई आश्वासन दियो र गयो। हामीलाई रातभर निद्रा लागेन। हामीलाई रातभर निद्रा लागेन। भोलिपल्ट पनि ती पैसा बनाउनेहरु आएनन्। त्यसपछि हामीलाई तिनीहरु कै जाल भन्ने पक्का भयो। अहिले हामी होटलको छतमा बसेका छौँ। धन्न ती लुटेराहरुले हाम्रो घडी लुट्न बिर्सेछन्। त्यही बेचेर पाउरोटी खाएर सुतेको एक हप्ता भइसक्यो। हिजो सडक हिड्दै गर्दा दुई जना नेपाली जस्तो अनुहार लागेर सोधेको हो रहेछ। उनीहरु पनि हामी जसरी नै लुटिएका रहेछन्। उनीहरु त एक महिना भइसकेछ। उनीहरुसँग त पाउरोटी खाने पैसा समेत छैन रे। उनीहरुले अरु पनि नेपाली पहिला यसरी आएको बताए। पक्कै पनि उनीहरुको हालत यस्तै भयो होला।
यस्ता कुराहरु त्यति सजिलै सार्वजनिक हुँदैनन्। किनकि पीडित मान्छे नै त्यो धन्दामा संलग्न हुन्छन्। नेपालमा पुलिसलाई खबर गरे पुलिसले उसैलाई नै पहिला समात्छ। यसरी नेपालबाट प्रलोभनमा फँसेर हरेक हप्ता यसरी अफ्रिकामा नेपालीहरुको लाखौँलाख रुपैयाँ लुटिँदैछ। यो धन्दामा नेपालका केही प्रतिष्ठित फुटबल क्लबका पदाधिकारीहरु पनि संलग्न रहेको हामीलाई शंका लागेको छ। नेपालले नाइजेरिया, घाना, स्वाजिल्यान्डलाई भिसा बन्द गरेको कुरा भर्खरै न्युजमा पढेर खुसि लाग्यो। तर नाइजेरियनहरु अरु देशको नक्कली पासपोर्ट बनाएर नेपाल भित्रिने रहेछन्। अवैध रुपमा नेपाल भित्रिएका त्यस्ता अफ्रिकनहरुलाई नेपालबाट निकाला नगरेसम्म अरु कति नेपालीको हरिबिजोग हुने हो ? यस विषयमा परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालय, नेपाल प्रहरी, टुरिजम बोर्ड, पत्रकार, होटल, नागरिक समाज सबैको गहिरो पहल चाहिन्छ।

A good information for all the neplese by the journalists himself
YOu know i too have been cheated by such minor people but not to that great extent. I lost around 50 thousands neplese currency while residing in nepal after we entered from Bhutan in 1990. I am cheated and looted by the neplese only not by the international cheaters. I was cheated by a Kalanki resident Newar, a Jhapali while selling his motorcyle,another in kathmandu looted us with my friends passports and all and so on
But here, as the writer is not showing his name, the address of the wife of the nigerian, their own address in nigeria and their home address too or neither they are seeking help to return nepal. HOw come that, one is cheated with so much of amount and the victim is not asking help even to his relatives but only informing in a good malody of language? In my view, its none being cheated but the writer himself is a journalist, who is informing the citizens of nepal for a better awarness.
Anyway i admire his good idea.

What a foolishness do we have ? I talked this story to one nigerian friend who is from Lagos too. She said that this story might be true. Because in Lagos, even she had already been cheated by Nigerian on the same way but with different way.
So, I donot have any kindness to Nepalese who did wrong and they should be punished for this, but not in Nigeria but inside nepal with nepalese law.

The story may be true. But the victims are the culprit themselves or they are thug-assistants. They did good by bringing the matter out through media. I have no resource to sympathise thug-assistants.

Nepal does not have a diplomatic relations with Nigeria. Therefore there is no Nepali Embassy. these dudes if they are real and genuine can contact human rights groups in Nigeria. There are many operating over there. Police in Nigeria or in any other parts of Africa (there may have been exception) are not any better than our Nepali Police. They can’t do anything. I had been robbed once in Kenya – a begger type guy snatched my chain from my neck in a market place. I reported the incidence to local cop but the thief was nowehre to be found, and cops were too lazy to proactively search. This is fate. Take it or leave it.

N.B: I mean differnt bill amount has a different color. for example $5 has blue color, $10 yellow and $20 green respectively; as well as there are microscopic alphabet on that thrade also.
well, anyway, police has to investigat form starting point regarding this matter.

I’m wondering there is no any method to check dollers at Bank? every dollars has silver thrade (Except $1) which is glow at specific color when we see it at blue color altraviolet light and one can get that checking device at low price also. well, I think it is time to reality check from related institution and government. and Nepalese embassy need to activate by contacting with police department of Nizeria whether those sort of incendent was filed at police or not.!!!

Nigerians are known for Scam. I the US, Nigerians are under tight surveliance. I feel the plea for help is genuine. Nepal Police and embassy must take action immediately. There are several reports in the US of how Nigerians. If you don’t believe, watch US TV network NBC’s catch the predator show, but because Nigeria is outside the US jurisdiction, FBI can not do anything. But FBI tries best to protect its citizen by iforming American citizen about Nigerian thugs. At the least, Nepal goverment should take action to safe-guarding it’s citizen by educating through media or other criminal justice system.
I was also disheartened by some of the pathetic comments above. I think it is right to be aware of such scam, whether real or imaginary. Prevention is better than cure.

It is sad to hear the story. On the other hand, if they had succeeded to actually make money that way it would definately corrupted our Economy. For that they are responsible for their actions. So don’t worry about it.
Once I almost went to Lagos to get US visas for my relatives cause everybody likes to go to US. I almost left for Nigeria. Luckily I did not have enough money to fly and stay there. Otherwise I would have been robbed too. Nigeria is very bad.
There is also another email circulating the net is that, someone died with $million dollars in the bank and need someone from foreign nation to transfer in their account. My suggestion is don’t even read that letter. Be careful.

It could be true because the victim has not been asking to send the money or andy kind of assistance rather giving information and making aware to us. One friend of mine had recieved similar email from one of the African country stating he was robbed and taken all the money and belongings .Actually,these people they steal your email password and get access into email,then they monitor your emails especially your status,correspondence.Thereafter, they send you an email by the name of your closest friend/family member asking you money and necessary assistance.Whatever, these nepalese (stranded in Nigeria) has to suffer the consequences as they are covetous and about to destroy our country nepal by using counterfeit money bussiness.
So, guys do believe in honesty and hardwork.Do not runa fter behind the glittring,you would loose.

I think they are real Nepali and its real story. If they are fraud people they didnt tell in story about fake note. Also they didnt ask any help us. I know littlebit about Nigeria and Nigerian. Last year I spend two weeks there on my cycling trip.I was robbed twice with gun point. When I was in Nigeria I met three Nepali in Lagos with same story. They were staying in hindu temple.I think they are not same person. I feel very guilty I couldnt help them .Just we had cup of tea together. When I returned back Nepal I met foreing minister Pradip Gyawoli and told him all that robbed story. It mean every year there is many Nepali going to make Nakkili note in Nigeria.Nigerian are famous for frauds all over the world. They robbed American. Nepali are is nothing for then. Left hand job .Its good for our country Nigerian never made fake note. They just robbed. Its bad lots of Nepali money going to Nigeria. I think we should stop them enter to Nepal. That is the only best solution for next robbing.

Like they also do as they are billiniore people in nigeria or ghana and they have lots of money, they want to come out of country and want to transfer money and asking your bank details, I received these type of email everyday.

Also you can receive everyday fraud email from african countries saying they are bankers, trust holder etc. They just create story only and its can not be a reality. if mistakenly when you belive on them and you start process you may have to face big problem and also they might take processing charge, which is thier medium to earn money. Do not belive in this hook, trust, junk what ever and do not reply email to them. Never provide details, name, address, tel & fax or bank a/c. 2. you are selected for investment in your country
3. apply for good hotel job e.g. Omni hotel in Canada
4. even invitation for seminar/conference
recent technique to attract educated intellectuals)
5. your friend is in trouble, sick – please send this much money
etc. etc. etc.
My suggestions to you all -
1. please don’t believe if you receive from some one who you have never known.
2. see the email address – if email account is not authentic. Authentic email address will use their proper domain name instead of yahoo, hotmail or gamil.
3. verify even if you get email from proper domain name or email address from your friends name before sending money as they can envade other’s account and write.

यदि चाइना राजदुताबासले आफ्नो देश र नगरिकको हितको लागि, अफ्रिकनलाई भिसा दिने काम बन्द गर्न सक्छ, पहल गर्न सक्छ भने नेपाल राजदुताबासले किन नसक्ने????????? के अझै नेपाली ले ठगिनु पर्ने लेखेको छ…………………????????

They are just cheater, they are trying to get money from other Nepali, those are Nigerian and trying to get money from Nepal, I had received the same email some time before. Their some points are true e.g. some Nepali also helping them they might be related to the sports, Nigerians are top froud in the world, Nepal stopped to provide landing visa to Nigerians etc. So, please be careful on it.

I think, the story may be based on the reality. However, what we have to understand is that these people who are claiming to have been cheated by the Nigerians are the cheater themselves. Because why? because they already had known that the making and using of the forged/duplicate US Dolar notes itself is a serious cheating and crime. So, why are we telling them “bichara”? and believing them that they are cheated? Don’t we have such a wisdom to differentiate what is right and what is wrong? If they were not chetaed and if they(the so called cheated Nepalese) were succeeded in their master plan/business how many of us could have been cheated? Can we imagine/anticipate? friends !

B. I have got this letter almost 6 years ago.
C. The fact is next time they ask little bit money to buy plane ticket and slowly they increase demand, this is exactly what they did almost 5-6 years ago to one of my friend.

2. How can you define that the $100 bill you changed on Bank or Money Exchange was fake?
3. The Bank didn’t ask you question about how to you you get the dollars and eligible to exchange to nepalese currency?
4. What you thought about the big amount of Fake Dollar Bill you can able to bring Nepal?
These questions are not to support the nigers. But only to prevent form frouds can’t make a fake things to send your blog.

I feel like its a true incident. The incicent mentioned above was happened several time here in Belgium with same black people. Only the difference was going to Nigeria and not going. I have seen myself making dollars like the way mentioned above. This is only theirs trick. Its totally false. We all nepalese people have big and open heart so we belive people easy and people take advantage on it. So we should always be careful in every step of our life.

This will affect all people holding ordinary passports,” Khanal noted. He also said this was to curb “suspicious activities allegedly carried out by nationals of the four countries while in Nepal.”

There is a rumour in UK that people of Nigerian origin were involved in many bank frauds as well, and I find that many people are vary cautious with people of Nigerian origin.
नेपाल मा यिनिहरु को बारेमा धेरै लाई थाहा नभएको ले गर्द यिनिहरु अहिले नेपालि हरु लाई ठग्न नेपाल पसेको हुन सक्छ।
नेपालका पत्रकार हरु ले एस बिषय मा नेपालि जनता हरु लाई समय मा नै सचेत गराउन जरूरत छ।
साथ्साथै नेपालएे नेपालि प्रहरी हरु र Politiciansहरु एस बिषय म सचेत हुन जरुरी छ।

2. Nepali (?) who writes you about his temptation and how he sunk into troubles in Nigeria. They ask for money to get back.

I received one e-mail in the name of my rspected teacher. He wrote that he is in Nigeria and looted by robber. He is asking me for money about 1500$ as soon as possible. But there was not datail of bank acount and other things in the message. I have pasted the message copying from my yahoo inbox as below.

Hotel’s telephone lines here got disconnected by the
robbers and they are trying to get them fixed back.I
have access to only emails at the library because my
mobile cant work here so i didnt bring it along,
please i want you to help me with money so please can
you send me $1500 so i can return back i would
refund it back to you as soon as i get home,I am so confused
right now and dont know what to do,you can have it
sent through western union but My passport is with the
Embassy here so not sure if i can use my name to
collect it now,But you can send it directly to the
western union woman here and i would get it through
her, I have already spoken to her,so will get it
immediately its sent but let me know if you can help
me then i will make findings.please let me hear from
you so i can collect her full name and address where

Plssssssssssssssssssssssss don’t believe this. It is new kind of tricks happening these days.
I got the same kind of mail some months ago and it came from my friends name. I tried to help him by sending money but before that I asked him to varify by answering my some questions which he failed and later I came to know that was just a cheater.
So please umeshji be very careful. The material that came to me had the same content as u have mentioned here. So please varify before helping
