महन्थ ठाकुरको तमलोपा अर्थात् तराई मधेस लोकतान्त्रिक पार्टीले आज आफ्नो निर्वाचन घोषणापत्र सार्वजनिक गरेको छ। घोषणापत्रमा एक मधेस एक प्रदेशको माग गरिएको छ। घोषणापत्रमा पूर्वमा झापादेखि लिएर पश्चिममा कञ्चनपुर जिल्लासम्मको क्षेत्रलाई एउटै मधेस प्रदेश बनाउनु पर्ने उल्लेख छ। त्यसो भए मात्रै अर्थात् सिंगो तराई एकै प्रदेश भएमात्र यो क्षेत्र आन्तरिक अौपनिवेशबाट मुक्त हुनेछ रे।
घोषणापत्रमा प्रधानमन्त्रीलाई कार्यकारी अधिकार हुनुपर्ने भनिएको छ।
अरु पार्टीको घोषणापत्रमा नभएको एउटा विशेषता पनि यसमा छ। यसमा भनिएको छ- राजनीतिक स्थायित्वका लागि एक वर्षसम्म अविश्वासको प्रस्ताव ल्याउन नपाइने व्यवस्था गरिनेछ।
तपाईँलाई कस्तो लाग्छ कुन्नि, मलाई भने यो सिंगो तराई क्षेत्रलाई एउटै प्रदेश बनाउनु पर्छ भनेको कुरामा पटक्कै चित्त बुझ्दैन। भिन्न भिन्न जाति, भाषा, संस्कृति रहेको स्थानलाई भारतको सीमा क्षेत्रसँग जोडिएको छ भन्दैमा पूरै क्षेत्रलाई स्वायत्त तराई प्रदेश किन बनाउने अड्डी लिएका हुन् उनीहरुले कुन्नि। जे होस्, संविधान सभाको निर्वाचन पछि नै हुनेछ प्रदे्श कस्तो बनाउने भन्ने कुरामा निर्णय। तमलोपाले पर्याप्त सिट ल्यायो भने न हो उनीहरुले राखेको जस्तो माग पूरा हुने।

It’s not me, who is demanding one madhes, one province. If u have eyes, go to the streets and check who is demonstrating. 48 percent of Nepali population is struggling for their rights. Don’t say they are Indians and never use words like Biharis for them. Each of them are equally a Nepali as we are. It won’t make any difference even if u think they are Indians. The mass will decide what they want and what they’ll get. I suggest hunks like u to keep silent.
Maybe, u are right that I don’t have good knowledge about madhes, since I was born n raised in kathmandu and its been 3 years that I am away from my country for studies. But I am sure that you have a very good knowledge about those Indian leaders u were talking about, in your comment above. Are they your relatives???
I believe that the people must get what they want, after all it is people’s democracy. If people are happy and satisfied, the country will be prosperous. Development of a state is not possible, if almost half of its population is side-lined on racial grounds. They are not from Bihar, they are Nepalis.
And don’t get upset by my name, it is the name i have been using since childhood as my alias, everywhere. It acts as a driving force in me. Nevermind!

I was not talking about the rights of people from Indian origin in Nepal. It seems that u think people in madhes (the actual madhesis of Nepal) are Indians. If its so, then shame on us. We can’t even recognize our own people. Today, the problem our country is facing is Racism. U have stated above that u were born and brought up in Madhes, no problem. U call yourself a madhesi, no problem. This thing has nothing to do with the race. U are not from a madhesi race, so u are the one amid the mass of those people who are demanding self-respect and dignity, who says that those who are demonstrating on the streets, are Indians.

I think you should consider about your people in Mahastra (by Bal thakery and raj thakery). People in Medesh of nepal are far more benifited than people of Pahad of nepal, if you do not beleive, just look the scenero of pahadi people of manang, mustang, jumla etc. I think you do not have actual ground report of nepal. Of course you do not look like nepali (at least your name says so, how could you know about nepal. So better consider your countrys problem and ty to save your bihari bhaia from your own country by Balthakery and Raj thakery(in mahastra)

I am a patriot, I don’t mean to say that i am a foreigner. I am just against the idea that India is behind all these unrest in our country. If we are strong, united we won’t be defeated.
Aba kura rahyo Delhi le Nepal ko barema decision garne barema. That’s true. Because those politicians we have chosen in past have sold our country piece by piece to india. Still, we think that they are the well-wisher’s of our country. We think, Madhesis are carrying out a revolution to divide the country and merge Terai to India. If we think so, we are cent percent wrong!!!
Therefore, I mean to say that save your country from those existing politicians, they are dangerous for the country. Madhesis are not the part of the problem. May be I am not in correct way but I think it is for discusssion not for iritation. Good forum to share our ideas and views, May be I learn a lot from your view and vision.
If madhesh or any other part is developing in all respect then it is also good thing for the nation.
We should to be worrry if it is ek madhes and ek pradesh or other possible state.
At any cost every part, every culture should be developed. All should feel our Nepal, which does not depend on the name of the state, language and dress.

How do you think Ek Madhesh Ek Pradesh is good proposal. A state should be based on the majority of a ethnic people. Their proposal is simply ludicrous. This does not represent the voice of the people living in those area. Furthermore, there are many indigenous group like Tharus, Rajbanshi who might not like to say in Madhesh pradesh. Even in the districts like Jhapa, Morang Madheshi’s are not majority. The proposal made by Maoist’s are somewhat reasonable.

Dear friends,
Our country is in the initial phase of restructuring so that all groups living in this land could feel that they are the real owner of this land, live with prosperity and pride of being born in this country. Of course, there are questions of discrimination, inclusiveness and respect. During these all discussions and turmoil, we should find a correct way, otherwise there is a chance that we will lose our national identity and sovereignty and will be in the list of “bad lucky” nations like Palestine, Kurd and many others. Recently, some agitating Madhesi parties have raised the demand of “Single Madhes State” and had virtually blocked the whole national economy for two weeks. Here I want your attention and a little time to read what is a“Single Madhes State” and why we should actively reject this idea at the very beginning.
What is the “Single Madhes State”?
It is a state in future Federal structure of Nepal which comprises whole Terai plain land from Mechi to Mahakali and from Indian border to Chure Pahad including some Pahadi areas which are now in so-called 22 Terai districts.
Why there should be no “Single Madhes State”?
There should be no “Single Madhes State” because:
1. It is not possible to make 1000 km long and about 25-30 km wide territory a “Single State”. It is not reasonable geographically and for administrative purposes.
2. It is not possible to make all plain lands a Single state and all hilly lands other States. Terai, plain land (Samtal) are not synonyms of Madhes.
3. In the history, there was no “Single Madhes State”, but rather Mithila, Tirhut, Abadh and Vojpura Rajya were there in different period of history in last 1000 years.
4. Culturally, there is no any Madhesi culture, but Mithila culture, Vojpuri culture and Abadhi culture.
5. There is no single Madhesi Language, but people speak Maithili,Vojpuri and Abadhi languages. There will be a total nonsense when a “Single Madhes State” will have four official languages ( Nepali,Maithili, Vojpuri, Abadhi) or may be more?.
6. There could not be a “Single Madhes State”, as there could not be a “Single Pahade State”.
7. Terai is ethnically a mixture of vast majority different groups and it is entirely different in the east Jhapa to the west Kanchanpur (distance1000km). People of east and west have different culture; different festivals and even they do not speak the same language.
8. Economically, 70% of industry lies in Terai and 48% population of the country live there. Making such a vast territory of economic and demographic importance a “Single State”, there will be no sense of dividing rest of the country (Pahad and Himal) in other 13-14 or more small states – thus the need for federal structure then automatically vanish.
9. If whole Terai will be a “Single Madhes State”, then it will be a “heavyweight” among other smaller states of Pahad and Himal. In the view of that it will cover almost all border with India (Nepal depends on India in its trade70-75% due to its geography), “Single Madhes State” will easily dominate the future Federal Nepal and other “tiny states” can easily be threatened and dominated when there will be questions regarding distribution of water resources(Drinking Water, Irrigation Projects), Hydroelectric Projects, National Highway, Railway and Division of Federal and State tax system)
10.The “heavyweight” Single Madhes will have strong influence on Federal politics as almost half of the population live in Terai, and this will make Central Federal government just puppets in the hands of Single Madhes .
11.We know Indian influence in Nepali politics, and of course we can imagine that influence on “Single Madhes State” in different decisions of Nepal government thus making Nepal’s sovereignty more weaker than what we have now(very weak already). In this regard it is quite possible that it is an Indian agenda rather than Madhesi agenda. (“Take at first only half” policy of RAW in contrast to “take whole” policy used in the past in case of Sikkim and Bhutan)
12. As most of Madhesi people want equal rights and opportunities and respect in this country, they want to be Nepali, they love Nepal and are pride of being Nepali. They are aware of and demanding only that. Most of them are not concerned about Single Madhes, rather they are concerned about their rights and self-esteem and well-being of their society.
13. Making whole Terai a “Single State” will not solve the problem of restructuring Nepal, rather it will create a vast majority of new ethnic problems which could lead to civil war like in Yugoslavia. In Terai, there is 33% Pahade and 7% Tharu population. Their respecting organizations (Tharu Kalyankari Sabha and Chure Bhawar Rastriya Ekta Party) have already threatened to go for agitations if government will fulfill the demand of “Single Madhes State”. Knowing the fact that different Madhesi organizations have launched armed war and many Madhesi Political parties have formed “Force” like “Madhesi Rakshya Bahini” and Chure Bhawar Ekta Party has formed its armed wing “Shanti Sena”, it is not difficult to calculate the consequences of such civil war. And being Terai that battle field the biggest loser will be Terai and its people.
So dear friends,its time to make your civil position very clear and think about our country and our land. I know many of you have born in hilly areas and may be some of you have even not visited Terai. Being ethnically diverse, Terai may be a trouble region for Nepal in coming many years. Prosperity of our people and our country totally depend upon how we can handle this problem.
And your civil position has a great role in this regard.

Division of the country is not the only option, it is the last option. If, almost one half of the population is sidelined by the government on racial grounds, then division has no alternative.
I am not a separatist, but think….what will u do, what will be your steps, if u are forced to live your life as a second class citizen in your own country, just because you are from a different race or caste than that of the rulers??

This will definitely never going to happen. As we all know Mahanth ji worked for NC for a long time i.e. almost all of his life. Now he had never realised suppression of madhesi people during his time with NC. All of sudden, how come he awake from his deep sleep and thought we should open new madhesi party or so. Why?? are you not the opportunist? Sick for power. Look at other leaders who they claim represent terai are all in fact highly corrupted and they have been exploiting many madhesi people who are poor. If you are really motivated to work in favor of terai people then first start from your home. Give respect and value who are working at your home as a servant and distribute your wealth to poor people then only we can believe you that you are genuine person who is serious thinking about welfare of terai people. Can you dare to do that? I do not think you will. Since you all who represents terai is all about lie and sick for power. You people will never let the country developed. Have you (Mr. thakur) ever fight for uprooting corruption when you were minister. We know you never have done that. You are sick for power like Girija.
Honestly saying, we need good leaders to represent terai. We do not need the ones who smells bad never be good for people to work for.
First thing, we have to correct ourselves in various respects, corruption should be uprooted. This is the main cause which gives bad impression to people and civilservents. Come on guys if you dare or want to contribute for building new Nepal this would be ideal thing to get started.

I don’t think all Madheses are bad but these so-called Madeshe leaders are India’s puppets. Why do they forget others? Do they have right to do whatever they want? Is Terai theirs? These nosense are India’s bood——- either their father or Mother is Indian (or) if not that they have gotten citizenship by using their money. We pahades should kick them to bihar to do whatever they want.Why our Gurkhas are silent? Why don’t they show their real power and kick these Indians (so-called Nepali) dhoties to India. The sad thing to note in above comments is – if there is any madhesh-centric issue discussed, it is always equated with conspiracy by India to break up the country. It is natural to disagree with any parties but setting this conspiracy angle with whatever madhesi issue is in itself implying that Madhesis are subjugates of India or have no sense of honour. Thats not true. Madhesh is madhesh and madhesis are madhesis, not Indians.
One thing I agree with TMLP is not putting no-confidence motion for the PM for one year. This will give some political stability.
I would also like to stress that its Maoists who have ruined the country and believe in dictatorship. They are still behaving like gangesters. So, Maoists dont deserve any votes.

2. They are now weakening NA
3. They will try to wipe out Maoist as well which they have already started in terai.
4. They are bringing new leaders in terai to wipe out NC and UML as well.
5. In very near future, they will insist terai leaders and warriors to demand another cantonment and merge Terai warriors to national army.
6. After that slowly they will infiltrate the bihari in politics by inflowing bihari people in terai.
7. At the end some bihari (not actually madhesi) will stay in Royal palace as a President of Nepal and we bodyguard them as Gurkhas like in India.

If we think positively Ek madhesh ek pradesh is the golden opportunity to develope their resources, agriculture, education and cultures, which has been neglected from the begining. In the sense of negative thinking anyone can think in his ownway. Main thing is here we are feeling the lack of belief within all Nepali.

Yesari auta singo nepal lai terai chetra bhanera aaja bibhajit garnebhaiyo, bholi gareya kaslai kun chetra chaiyo bhane ke nepal nepal nai rahala ta? Today a group of people have become successfull to claim a separate autonomous state(chetra as i understand), who knows that in the days to come, it may lead to annexation or a sort of thing like this with india.
I know they have struggled a lot and hard to achieve this, but I myself personnally feel that it is the ladder to the realm of destruction of national integrity of NEPAL as state.
I don’t know how other people think on this matter as there are lots of idoelogists and brainmaster in nepal, but to tell the truth, a kind of suffocation always lies within me.

We were respecting Mahanta Thakur and we never knew that he is such a stupid. First of all why Madesh!! why not Tarai Pradesh? Do Madishes think that only their community lives in that area? there are so many communities with different culture, language and dress lives together. More over, the so called Madise lives (predominantly) only between the Koshi river and Narayani River. All the rest is filled with other community. So, forget about that stupid idea or you madishe’s will be wiped out from the country will have to live the life of REFUGEE in India or somewhere else.

आज नेपालमा त्यहि जातिय नारा गुन्जिरहेछ, के भोलिको हाम्रो नया नेपाल पनि यस्ता विशेषताहरुले भरिपुर्ण भएर आउने हो त? जसरी केन्यामा ४५ दिन मा १५०० मानिस मर्दा पनि त्यहाको नेताहरुलाई केहि क्षतिको महसुस भएन,र आखिर मा दुबै समुहले सत्ता पाउने भएपछि मिले। यता नेपालका नेताहरु पनि भाषणमा जन्ता उचाल्ने भाषामात्र बोलिरहेका छन। आज जुन जातिय नारा आइरहेछ, त्यस्ले भोली कस्तो परिणाम ल्याउन सक्छ, यस्का फाइदा बेफाइदा हरु के के हुन सक्लान पट्टी कसैले सोचेको देखिदैन। सबै नेता हरु केवल आफु ठुलो हुने स्वार्थमा कुदेका छन्। स्वायत्त राज्य अवश्य आजको आवश्यकता हो्। तर नेपाल जस्तो भौगोलिक जतिलता ले ग्रस्त मुलुकलाइ जातिय आधार मा भन्दा बहुपक्षिय आधार मा (जस्तै भौगोलिक बनाबट, क्षेत्रियता, जाति, भाषा तथा अन्य) स्वायत्त राज्यहरु निर्माणगर्नु राम्रो हुन्छ। सबैभन्दा महत्वपुर्ण राज्यसंचालन को आर्थिकभारलाई ममन गर्नु पर्ने हुन्छ। अल्पबिकसित तथा अर्थतन्त्रमा आत्मनिर्भर नभएको नाताले सकेसम्म थोरै राज्यहरु निर्माणगरि ति राज्यभित्र अन्य उपराज्यहरु निर्माण गर्नु लाभदायक हुन्छ। जस्तै पुर्वी नेपाललाई हाल को मेची, कोशी, सगरमाथा लाइ एउटा राज्य निर्माण गरि बिभिन्न उपराज्यहरु जस्तै लिम्बुवान, कोचिला, किरात उपराज्य गठन गर्ने र आवस्यक स्वायत्तता राज्यले प्रदान गर्ने। यसो भएमा मात्र वास्तविक समावेशी प्रजातन्र्त सबै जनताले उपभोग गर्न पाउनेछन। तर मदेश वा तराइ वा कुनै क्षेत्र सबै मेरो भन्ने राजनितिले भोलि देस र जनता को गति के र कस्तो हुनेछ भन्ने कुरा नेता र जनता ले कल्पना नगरेको हुन सक्छ्। बिद्रोह को शिकार नेता चै हुदैनन् भन्ने कुनै ग्यारन्टी छैन्॥
कुनै राज्य जातियता को आधारमा गठन हुदा वा सम्पुर्ण तराइ एक प्रदेशको कुरागर्दा मलाइ एक पटक तराइ बाट काठमाण्डौ आउदा को घटना याद आयो। बस ले लाहान मा ल्याएर खाना खान सबैलाइ उतार्यो। यात्रुहरु सबैले खाना खाइरहेको बेलामा अर्को होटलको काउन्टर निर एक यात्रुलाइ केहि मानिसहरुले एक्कासी पिटेको देखियो, के रहेछ भनेर बुझ्दा त यात्रु ले खाएको तरकारिमा भ्यागुतो परेको रहेछ र उस्ले कम्प्लेन गरेको रहेछ्। किन हल्ला गरिस र ग्राहक भडकाइस भनेर मदेसमुल को होटलबालाले मान्छे लाएर कुटेको रहेछ। जातिय राज्यमा समाबेशी प्रजातन्त्रको अभ्यास कम हुने सम्भावना हुन्छ किनकि त्यहा बहुसंख्यत जातिको बोलबाला चल्ने गर्छ॥ सैयौ बर्षदेखि को यो प्रकृया हराउने हैन केवल काठमाण्डौ केन्द्र बाट संघिय राज्यमा सर्छ। जे होस अब बन्ने नया नेपालमे यस्ता बिकृतीहरु नदोहोरिउन। यहि छ कामना नया नेपाल को लागि!

एउटा उखान छ “लगौंटीको जुम्रा टुप्पीमा पुग्यो भने धेरै चिलाउँछ” । भएको यही हो । जुन समुहको बाहुल्यता पू्र्वि यो पनि सबै हैन (मोरङ्को रंगेली भन्दा पश्चिम दक्षिणबाट शुरु भएर पर्सासम्म) र मध्य तराईको केही भागमा सिमित छ त्यस समुहले यस्तो माग गर्नु भनेको हैसियत भन्दा बढी भाग टोक्न खोज्नु हो । के हो यो आन्तरिक उपनिवेश भनेको चाहीँ ? काँगडा र टिष्टाका पहिलेका नेपाली भाग उपनिवेश भएनन् बर्तमानमा सुस्ता अतिक्रमणमा चुइक्क बोल्दैनन् यि महोदयहरु । देश बाह्य उपनिवेशमा परिणत भै सक्यो आन्तरिक उपनिवेशको नारा ? हुन त यस “मधेस उपनिवेश ईतिहास”को कलियुगिय सृष्टी भारतिय महापरमेश्वरहरुले कृपा गरेर गरिदिएका हुन । लौ महोदय हो अव “समग्र तराई एक मधेश भारतियहरु परमेश्वहरुलाई चढाउँ यही धुप र नैवेद”।

म तराई मधेस लोकतांत्रिक पार्टी को घोसनापत्र देखि सहमत छु . सयौं बर्ष देखि आफ्नो अधिकार बाट बंचित गरायिएका मधेसी हरुले आज आफ्नो अधिकार माग्दा येसलाई देश को विभाजन भन्ना मिल्दैन . स्वायत्त प्रदेश को माग राखन पाउनु उनिहरू अधिकार हो र किन न मागने पनी? आफ्नै देश मा पनी कोई सेकंड क्लास सिटिज़न भएर बांचछ ??
नागरिकता को अधिकार बाट समेत बंचित गरयेपछि स्वायत्त प्रदेश मागने पर्यो नि !!! आफ्नै भूमि मा भूमिहीन भएर बचनु परेकोछ उनिहरू ले .
All I want to say is, to protect your fundamental rights, even if u have to divide the country, don’t hesitate, just go ahead. Because it can’t be your country and your government, if it doesn’t respect your rights.

I am not surprised with this as Maosit have put the same thing as Madhesi Rajya. These small group including Maoist have to have seperate agenda than big parties like UML and NC. It is not petriotic either.
Maosit are the one who support Madhes seperation by by having racial division of the country. We should all unite to defeat rouge party of Maoist.

यस् बारेमा पहिले पनि धेरै लेखियो कमेन्ट्को रुपमा। यो उनिहरुले पनि realize गरिसकेको कुरा हुनुपर्ने हो, कि समतल भुमी भएको आधारमा मात्र एउटै क्षेत्र हुन सक्दैन, जसरी पहाडी भुमी भएको आधारमा मात्र पहाड एउटै संघइय प्रान्त हुन सक्दैन। संघीयतामा लाने आधार भनेको फेरी पनि भाषा, जातिय, जनजातिय, आदिबासिय, सान्स्कृतिक, वा अन्य खाले (जस्तै अर्थिक गरीबी, भौतिक पूर्वधार्को उपलब्धता, अनुपलब्धता) नै हुन। तेसो गर्दा मधेस मलाई लाग्छ कम्तिमा ५ प्रान्तिय प्रशासनइक ब्यबस्थामा जाला। त्यो ब्यबस्था गर्ने नै हो भने।
अर्को कुरा, भोली तराइलाई बिभिन्न प्रान्तिय, संघीय ब्यबस्थामा लाने हो भने, अहिलेको जिल्ला (जो पनचायत्ले गरेको हो) हरुको सिमानालाई फेर्नु पर्छ, वा जिल्ला र अञ्चल भन्ने जुन हाम्रो पुरानो बिभाजन छ नि, त्यो लाई erase गरेर अहिले हामी मुख्य मुख्य के लाई आधार बनाएर सघीयतामा जाने भन्दै छम त्यस्को आधारमा सिमान्कन होला, अहिलेको जिल्ला र अञ्चल को सिमान्कन ले काम दिदैन। तपाईंइलाई थाहा छ कि छैन? अहिले तराइ भनेको जिल्लाहरु धेरैले पहाडी क्षेत्र थुप्रै ओगटेका छन, (झापा, सुन्सरी, मोरङ, बारा, चितवन, नवलपरासी आदी धेरै पहाड भएका जिल्ला हरु हुन) समतल भुमिमा पहाडे जनसंख्या पनि छ नि भन्ने कुरा बाहेक, भुमी पनि पहाडी तेतिकै छ भनेको मैले। भन्न लाई हामी भन्छम, 48.43 प्रतिसत जनसंख्या मधेसी हो, तर पहाडबाट झरेका, (छेत्री, बाहुन, पहाडे दलित, पहाड जनजाती, आदिबासी) छुटाउने हो भने तराईकै जनसंख्या चाही, ३१ प्रतिसत्को हाराहारी छ क्यारे।
तर तेही मधेश्मा को पहिले आए? सात पुस्ता अघी आउने माधव नेपालहरु मधेस्का हुन कि, नेपाल पसेको तीन पुषता पनि नपुग्ने ब्यक्ती वा परिवार (अहिले को तेल मन्त्री भन्दा अगाडिको तेल मन्त्री, जो अहिले सर्लाही बाट उम्मेद्वार भएको छ) चाँही पुरानो हो? नाम लेख्दा मान हानी होला भनेर नाम नलेखेको मैले। anthropology मा एउटा राम्रो अध्ययन बिधी छ genealogy method भन्छ, परिवारको पुर्ख्यौली सोध्दै जाने, कहाँ बस्यो, कहाँ बस्यो, को थियो भन्दै, त्यसरी परिवारको ईतिहास थाहा पाउन सकिन्छ लेख्य ईतिहास नभएको समुदाय हरुको। तेसैले म बाजी राख्न तयार छु, अहिले मधेस्का धेरै super star नेताहरुले आफ्नो genealogy तपाईंलाई दिनेवाला छैनन।
अहिले चुनावको बेलामा प्रचार्मुखी, र ‘पपुलिस्ट’ घोषणा पत्र बनाउन खोजेको होला। यसो गर्छन् पनि धेरैले, अरुको चुनावी घोषणा पत्र पनि तेही ‘populism को notion बाट हेर्नु राम्रो हुन्छ अहिलेलाई।
