In 1986,2045 Nepali sal the United Nations International Year of Peace, the Kingdom of Nepal agreed to participate in World Expo ’88, and the Association to Preserve Asian Culture was commissioned to create, operate for the Expo, and find a new home for the Pagoda at the Expo’s conclusion. Construction
Immediately 80 tonnes of indigenous Nepalese timber were sourced from the Terai jungle forest of Nepal, carted across to the capital Kathmandu where 160 Nepalese families worked for two years at crafting its diverse elements. These were then shipped to Australia in two 20-foot containers and one 40-foot container, where they were assembled at the Expo site by a handful of Australian workers under Nepalese supervision. The final assembly for World Expo ’88 only took a few days.
During the Expo Three-levelled, with a beautiful tea house on the second level, and one of the only hand-crafted Pavilions, the Pagoda quickly became one of the most visited and photographed Pavilions at the Expo. Towards the end of the Expo a group of persons called Friends of the Pagoda established a petition to keep the Pagoda in Brisbane after the conclusion of the Expo, with some 70,000 signatories. This pagoda has huge contribute in development of Brisbane city 3rd big city of Australia which was great . Whenever i vist this place it,s make me cry because we are the one who have this huge treasur in our country but we cant recognise the value and now we are leaving on disaster . Please feel the pain and make change to save our nepal . there are lot,s of peace pagoda in nepal just need peace .
This is an handicraft Nepalese Temple established in the banks of River Brisbane. Brisbane is capital city of the state of Queensland in Australia. This artifact was first exhibited in Brisbane expo. At the end of expo some some well wishers in Brisbane had the city council purchase and it and establish it in the most frequented South Bank Park of Brisbane. Every day lots of tourist come here and admire our handicraft.
unfortunately it doesn’t have any statue inside guys its jus like a sample temple without statue, and nobody prays here ,its just situated in a parkland on the bank of brisbane river australia
This temple is from brisban Australia. see how beautiful it looks and the most important things is that this temple was built by nepales people and we can see many nepalese words which describe this temple.
This temple is situated in southbank, brisbane,Australia next to the city area.It is called Nepal Peace Pagoda which was built in 30th april-30th october 1988.It was built as the souvenir of world expo 88′.There is another small boudha stupa on the right hand side just behind this temple and a small pond.On the left hand side of entrance there is idol of lion as we have in nepal infront of every temple. But the boring thing is there is no any god or goddess idol inside. It is all full of chairs and tables. But the visitors arenot allowed to go inside. But the good point is this place is crowded everyday in the evening and specially during the new year and fireworks in brisbane river it is overcrowded.and i have heard people talking about nepal when they visited this place. So we nepalese definitely need to be proud of this and thanks to that person who has helped to build this cultural monuments outside of nepal in the foreign land.i am bit confused about his name. But no worries the administrator will give the rest of the detail, won’t you?
This is not a Temple….. This is a showpiece. There are No Statue inside.
This was created in 1988, For a show, and was a big hit, Nepalese community asked the government for a place for this to be kept forever and was granted a very nice place in Brisbane Southbank.
between victoria bridge and goodwill bridge.griffith university queensland conservatorium को नजिक।
The Nepalese Peace Pagoda was part of the Nepalese Pavilion at the World Exposition 1988 (Expo 88) at Southbank in Brisbane. It is a square, three-level replica of a traditional Nepalese temple. It was originally sited near the Vulture Street entrance to Expo 88. In 1991 it was moved to its current location, amongst the rainforest near the northern riverbank entrance to the Southbank Parklands.
At the end of Expo 88, the APAC had planned to sell the Nepalese Peace Pagoda, most likely to Japan. This was not a popular decision with 90,000 people having signed a petition to keep the Peace Pagoda in Brisbane. A “Save the Pagoda Campaign” was active by February 1989 and public donations eventually totalled $52,000, with $30,000 coming from one couple who wanted to “give Brisbane something to remember from Expo 88″. The Brisbane City Council provided $50,000, and the Federal Government supplied $100,000. And so the Peace Pagoda remains here in Brisbane’s South bank today, a place for reflection, mediation and gratitude.
The Peace Pagoda with its intricate woodcarving is a beautiful and picturesque building that is much admired and photographed by visitors to Southbank. The Peace Pagoda is a symbol of peace and was a gift from Nepal in 1988. The Peace Pagoda is one of the few things that remained after the Expo 88 site was transformed into Southbank. What makes the Peace Pagoda so special is that it is the only example of a Nepalese temple in Australia, being one of only three that exist outside Nepal. The other two being in Munich Germany and Osaka Japan.

its in brisbane next to brisbane eye, by the way its not a temple, they had a exibation 10 yrs ago and among them they like this one and they set it up permanent
This temmple is located at South Bank, Brisbane in Australia. Its very nice temple with different Hindu god’s.

When I see the vegetation in surroundings, i can confirm that it doesnot belongs to Indian subcontinent, because these kinds of forest and vegetations is not found in these regions. It might be from the area from where ” RAIN FOREST species are dominant” These kind of forests are found in Indonesia, Thainland, Vietnam, Latin America and in Australia etc. May these is from these regions.

Ya I guess all the Nepalese who are in Brisbane has visited this temple. Its located in the heart of the city so, everyone has visited who are living in Brisbane.
You have some problem with your …….. My friend there is no such thing asked like : in front of whose house is this located ? or so . Please go for a overall treatment including brain.
I have never thought of a temple or a sample of a temple without a deity even in my wildest imaginations. Oh! How could I have overlooked this simple possibility? It is just like strolling deep in reverie along a blacktopped road when suddenly you stumble forward due a pothole. Ouch!
Jasmineji, thanks for this unthought of piece of information.

During the Expo
Three-levelled, with a beautiful tea house on the second level, and one of the only hand-crafted Pavilions, the Pagoda quickly became one of the most visited and photographed Pavilions at the Expo.

But no worries the administrator will give the rest of the detail, won’t you?

plz all friend lets help this poor person

Nepalese Temple Southbank,Brisbane Australia.
Nepalese Peace Pagoda
The Peace Pagoda with its intricate woodcarving is a beautiful and picturesque building that is much admired and photographed by visitors to Southbank. The Peace Pagoda is a symbol of peace and was a gift from Nepal in 1988. The Peace Pagoda is one of the few things that remained after the Expo 88 site was transformed into Southbank. What makes the Peace Pagoda so special is that it is the only example of a Nepalese temple in Australia, being one of only three that exist outside Nepal. The other two being in Munich Germany and Osaka Japan.
It was the Association to Preserve Asian Culture (APAC) that commissioned the Peace Pagoda. It was built by 160 craftsmen from the Kathmandu Valley before being assembled here in Brisbane. During Expo ’88, the two small timber pavilions in front of the Peace Pagoda sold yoghurt lassi, samosas, orange juice and lemon tea. The nearby Nepalese pavilion showcased traditional costumes, climbing dress, photographs, and artefacts.

Nepalese Temple,Southbank Brisbane Australia.

ANYWAY, the temple seems quite well managed !
