उच्च शिक्षाका लागि भन्दै अस्ट्रेलिया जाने नेपाली विद्यार्थीहरु त्यहाँको सरकारलाई समेत टेन्सनको विषय बन्न पुगेको छ। अस्ट्रेलिया सरकारले नेपालमा रहेका आफ्ना राजदूत सुसन ग्रेसलाई यससम्बन्धी चासो नेपाल सरकारलाई पुर्याउन अर्हाएको छ। त्यसै अनुसार राजदूत ग्रेसले अस्ति बुधबार परराष्ट्र मन्त्रालयका सहसचिव मोहनकृष्ण श्रेष्ठलाई भेटी यसबारे अवगत गराइन्।
नेपाली विद्यार्थी सडकपेटी र पार्कहरुमा जथाभावी सुत्ने गरेको र ‘खराब’ क्रियाकलापमा समेत सहभागी हुने गरेपछि अस्ट्रेलिया सरकारलाई टेन्सन भएको गुनासो राजदूतले गरिन्। राजदूत ग्रेसले म्यानपावर कम्पनी जस्ता बनेका एजुकेसनल कन्सलट्यान्सीहरुले भए नभएका आश्वासन दिएर प्रलोभनका पारी विद्यार्थीहरु अस्ट्रेलिया पठाउनाले समस्या निम्तिएको बताएकी थिइन्।
हुन पनि अहिले कन्सलट्यान्सीको बजार एकदमै फस्टाएको छ। पुतलीसडकमा जानुस्, घरैपिच्छे यस्ता कन्सलट्यान्सी भेटिन्छन्। अझ कुनै घरमा त तीन चार वटासम्म कन्सलट्यान्सी बसेको देखिन्छ। कुनै जमाना थियो, जतिबेला कान्तिपुर जस्ता पत्रिकामा सबैभन्दा बढी विज्ञापन श्रद्धाञ्जलिका हुन्थे। तर अहिले हेर्नुस् त पानैपिच्छे कन्सलट्यान्सीका विज्ञापन हुन्छन्।
यस्ता कन्सलट्यान्सीहरुको प्रलोभनमा परी विद्यार्थीहरु अस्ट्रेलिया पुग्छन्। अनि भने अनुसारको रोजगारी र बस्ने ठाउँ पाउँदैनन्। अनि जथाभावी सडकपेटी र पार्कमा सुत्नुको विकल्प के रह्यो र। केही महिनाअघि अस्ट्रेलियास्थित नेपाली राजदूतले पनि सरकारलाई यो समस्याप्रति गम्भीर हुन आग्रह गर्दै पत्र पठाएको थियो। पत्रमा नेपाली महिला विद्यार्थीहरुले काम नपाएर देहव्यापार जस्तो पेशा पनि अपनाउन बाध्य भइरहेको उल्लेख छ भन्दै पत्रपत्रिकामा समाचार छापिएपछि हंगामा मच्चिएको थियो। यस पटक भने नेपाली राजदूतले नभएर अस्ट्रेलिया कै राजदूतले सरकारलाई झकझकाएका छन्। तर सरकार सचेत हुने हो कि हैन ?
अस्ट्रेलियाको कलेज खारेज भएपछि नेपाली विद्यार्थी अलपत्र
अस्ट्रेलियाको सरकारले Melbourne International College को शैक्षिक अनुमति पत्र हिजो खारेज गरेपछि नेपाली विद्यार्थीहरु अलपत्र परेका छन्। कलेजमा साढे ३ सयभन्दा बढी विदेशी विद्यार्थी रहेकोमा नेपालीहरुको संख्या पनि उल्लेख्य रहेको बताइएको छ। तर नेपाली विद्यार्थीहरुको यति नै संख्यामा छन् भन्ने चाहिँ थाहा हुन सकेको छैन।
अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विद्यार्थीहरुलाई झुक्याउने भ्रष्ट निजी कलेजहरुमाथि कारबाही गर्ने क्रममा यो कलेजको अनुमति पत्र खारेज गरिएको हो। गत वर्ष सिडनीको ग्लोबल कलेज बन्द भएयता यो सबैभन्दा ठूलो कलेज बन्द भएको घटना हो।
अधिकारीहरुले यो कलेजमा अध्ययनरत विद्यार्थीहरुलाई अर्को कलेजमा स्थानान्तरण गर्न दिइने बताएका छन्। यसका लागि के गर्ने भन्ने विषयमा आज विद्यार्थीहरुको आपतकालीन छलफल कार्यक्रम डाकिएको थियो।
यो कलेजलाई राज्य सरकारले सन् २००७ देखि नै निगरानी गरिरहेको थियो। क्लासै नलिए पनि बढी पैसा तिर्ने विद्यार्थीहरुलाई पास गराइदिने गरेको गुनासोमाथि सरकारले छानबिन गरिरहेको थियो।
१७ कलेज निगरानीमा छन्
Melbourne International College मात्र हैन, त्यहाँका थप १७ वटा कलेजमाथि पनि सरकारले निगरानी गरिरहेको छ। केही कलेजहरुले ९ हजार डलर शुल्क लिएर सर्टिफिकेटहरु बाँडिरहेको र त्यस्ता सर्टिफिकेटहरु काम पाउन र स्थायी बसोबास अनुमति (पीआर) पाउन प्रयोग भइरहेको गुनासो पुगेको छ। यस्ता कलेजहरुले विद्यार्थीहरुलाई शोषण गर्ने र शिक्षा कानुन उल्लंघन गर्ने गर्दा रहेछन्।

To some extent,its true that there is problem for Nepalese in Australia,BUt the tthings mentioned above is completely wrong.Ya its difficult to get a good job,but its easy to survive if u get chance to work 1 shift in a week for month.It means that we Nepalese studente never have to sleep at park and Beg Dollars.i dont know why people are always after rumor,before printing such meaningless ews,i request media operson to coime here and get the reality.

I have been in Australia for 15 yrs and I am from Sydney. I have never seen any Nepalese sleeping in the park and begging for money. This is totally lies. Sometime some young Nepalese students come to me and ask them to find the jobs. Its really false and far as I know Nepalese people work hard to earn living Australia. Most Nepalse living in Sydney have better life styles than Australian born here. The reason is clear we work hard and multiple jobs. Nepalese Embassy’s finding that Nepalese girls involving in prostitution is also false and I have never heard of it in Sydny. Secondly prostitution is legal in Australia and Nepalese women are free people and they have right to do so if they want to but its non of the embassy’s concern how the Nepalese girls use their body. The Nepalse medias should grow up and publish the truth and write all bull shit to give false perception.

Patrakar bandu ma sydney ako 4 yrs bho mailay testo bato ma park ma sutay ko dekhay sunay ko chaina tara tapai le thaha paunu bhayacha nepal basay ra ascharya lagyo. its true some nepalese students as well australians go to park to take some rest at day time to maintain the gap between work and college. but i never seen anyone sleeping in street in this 4 yrs peroid & its illegal here. Its hard for new people to adjust themself. so they must b well prepared to come to australia , u must confirm ur accomodation before comming here and must have sufficient fund to support urself till u get job. but if u don have confirm accomodation none to pick up from airport and cant speak well than of course you are going to sleep at park…and these incident becomes hot issued for media so who is responsible for this..australia? nepalese government? Consultancy..? or we the students? think n b positive…..

यो बारेमा धेरैनै बहस भैसक्यो। बहस सकिनु अगाडी केही कुरा थपौ झै लाग्यो। अष्ट्रेलियाको राजदुतले नेपाल सरकारलाई जुन कुराको लागी ध्यानाकर्षण गरियो त्यो कुरा सही छ,कुनैपनि देसमा बाहिरबाट आयका बिध्यार्थि वा जो कोहीबाट पनि त्यो देस्को नियम कानून भन्दा बाहिर गयर केही गर्न मिल्दैन, भिसा लिने बेलामा नै त्यो कबूल गरियको हुन्छ। यहाँको सरकारलाई कस्ले कसरी भिसा पायको छ भन्दा पनि कस्ले भिसाको कानूनि मर्यदा पालना गरेको छ भन्नेकुरा संग संबन्ध हुन्छ र मलाई लाग्छ यो कुरा संसारका सबै देसमा लागु हुन्छ। नेपाली भयकै कारण कुनै नेपालीलाई कुनै अरूदेशको नियम मिच्ने अधिकार हुंदैन। न त कुनै बिदेशीलाई नेपालको। यहाँ देखियको अहिलेको समस्याको बारेमा म केहीकुरा राखदै छु।
१)नेपालमा भयका कन्सल्टेन्सिहरू, जो पैसाको लागि झुट्टा कुराहरु गर्छन्, तर त्येस्को सत्यता बुझ्न नसक्नू बिध्यार्थीको पनि दोष छ, भिसा लाग्ने हो भने जतिसुकै पैसा पनि दिने र बिदेस गै सकेपछी देखाजाएगा भन्ने स्यम आफै हुन्छ।
२)बिदेशमा समस्या आउने भनेको भर्खरै आयका युवाबर्गबाटनै हो, गलत अर्थ नलागेमा, उनिहरू नेपाल भर्खरै छोडेका हुन्छन अनि नयाँदेशको नियमपनि आफ्नै देशको जस्तो सम्झन्छन तर यहां कानून जिउदो छ भन्नेकुरा बिर्सन्छन् जुन उनिहरूको कम्जोरी हो।
३)येहाँ नेपालीलाई दु:ख दिने भनेको कथित नेपाली होस्टेल्वाला वा अरूकाम मिलाइदिने निउंमा कमिशन खाने नेपालीहरूनै छन ती बाहेक कुनै स्थानिय वा बाहिरबाट आयका मान्छेले कहिल्यै समस्या दिंदैनन् बरू सक्दो सहयोग गर्छन। नेपालको भनेपछी त झन् धेरै इज्जत गर्छन्।
४)जसरी हुन्छ पैसा कमाउं भन्ने बिचार भयका मान्छेहरू, जो आफ्नो पढाई भन्दा पैसामै बल गर्छन् र भिसा बिगार्छन् अनि ग्रैह कनूनि रूपमा लूकिलूकि बस्न बाध्य हुन्छन्, तेस्ताहरू कानूनि सिमा मिच्न अलि मान्दैनन, समातियो कि गयो हुन्छ।।
५) यहां काम् नपाउने भन्ने कुरा पनि सत्य हैन आहिले सम्म कति नेपाली कामै नपाइ बसेका छन् त?? कति सत्य हो भने काम् को लागी नेपालमा जस्तो फोनको भरमा वा आफ्नो मान्छे भन्नेकुरा चाहिं हुँदैन। अनि अर्को सत्य काम भन्नेकुरा अरूले दिनेहो उस्को लागी केहि गरिदिय बापत आजभोली नेपालबाट आउने र येहां काम पाइन भन्नेले आफूभित्र कत्ति खुवि र योग्यता छ त्यो काम् पाउनको लागी भनेर पनि बुझ्नू पर्छ, नेपाल,आफ्नै देशमा त माखो मार्न नसक्नेले येहां काम् पाइन भन्न कत्ति सुहाउँछ?? हिम्मत हुनेले के गरेका छैनन? उनिहरूलाइ कसले रोकेको छ र?
६) देह ब्यपार, अलि पहिले निकै ठुलो समाचार बनेको थियो, को बारेमा मलाइ के भन्न मन् लाग्छ भने, कोही नेपाली जो आफ्नो जिउ पैसाको लागी बेच्छिन् भने कस्ले के गर्ने त? नेपालीले अष्ट्रेलियामा आयरै यो पेशा गरेकि हुन् त? नेपालमै भयका हजारौ नेपाली बेश्याको बारेमा के भन्ने त? उनिहरू मध्यकै कोही यहां आयर आफ्नो पेशालाइ निरन्तरता दियको भय के गर्ने? त्यो कुरामा नेपालमा नै केही गर्नु पर्छ, कोहीपनी NEPALI दिदी बहिनी काम् नपायर वा पैसाको अभाबले यहां सरीर बेच्नु पर्दैन र बेचेकी पनि छैनन्, एक जना कोही जो आफ्नो स्वतन्त्रताको दुरूपयोग गर्छिन् भने तेस्को दोष सारा नेपालीलाइ दिनु मिल्दैन।
७) अन्तमा, जो जो लाई यी माथीका कुरामा समस्या छ मलाई येही ब्लग मार्फत् सम्पर्क गर्नुस् म येथाशक्य सहयोग गर्ने छु।

A year back, I came across 2 Nepalese students in similar situation. They had no were to go and lived with me for a week until we could find an accommodation for them.
Guys, u can work 2 or 3 jobs but at end of the day Australian government allows only 20 hrs per week in student visa.
Allow me to explain further:
Average wages (pay) per hour = $15
20hrs X $15 = $300
Guys working 2 jobs, could u please explain me below?
How many hours do u work in a week?
Do u know the consequences if immigration finds out of your working hours?
When do u get time to study?
Are u really studying here?
Sending money back home – fantastic, making loved ones proud but I would love to know how u manage ur finances. “Living expenses” “Tuition fee” above all “Sending money” back home.

अष्ट्रेलिया गएर पढ्ने ( वा काम गर्ने )नेपाली विध्यार्थीको विषयमा विभिन्न टिकाटिप्पणीहरु बाहिर आएको छ। केहि महिना अघि मात्र अष्ट्रेलियाको लागि नेपाली राजदुतको नेपाल सरकारलाई पठाइएको पत्रमा पनि यस्तै सन्दर्भहरु उल्येख थियो र अहिले यो समाचार बाहिर आएको छ। अष्ट्रेलियामा बसि राख्नु भएकाहरुको कमेन्टमा यस्तो कहिँ पनि नदेखिएको तर काम रोजगारको समस्या देखिएको भन्ने भनाई पढ्न पाईयो। सहि कुरा के हो जान्न पाए राम्रो हुन्थ्यो।
एउटा सत्य के हो भने च्याउ झैं उम्रेका कन्सलट्यान्टहरुको ब्यबहार नेपालीहरुलाई राम्रो सल्लाह दिनु भन्दा जसरी हुन्छ आफ्नो आर्थिक फाइदा हेर्ने नै हो। यसको शिकार सबै जसो बाहिर जाने भएको पाउँछ भने पढ्नको लागि जानेहरु पनि पढ्नु भन्दा कमाई तिर नै लाग्ने र सर्टिफिके किन्ने प्रवृति पनि छ। बाहिरको सर्तिफिकेलाई बदि ग्राहेता दिने नेपालीको मानसिकताले पनि किनेर भए पनि सर्टिफकेट ल्याउने प्रचलन बदेको हो। नेपाल कै शिक्षास्तर राम्रो भइराखेको अवस्थामा विदेशकै डिग्रि राम्रो हो भन्ने मानसिकता जहिले सम्म परिवर्तन हुन सक्दैन नेपालीहरु नेपालीबाटै ठगिने र बाहिर देशमा पनि हाम्रो छवि धमिलिने काम रोकिने छैन। सचेतता जानेहरुको मात्र होइन, सरकारको सकारात्मक पहले कदम, नेपाली शिक्षालाई स्तरियता प्रधान गर्ने, र नेपाली रोजगारदाताहरुले पनि नेपाली डिग्रिलाई प्राथमिकता दिने जस्ता कुरा भयो भने यसरी नेपालीहरुको विदेसिले हु्र्मत लिने थिएन र वैदेशिक मुद्रा पनि बाहिर जाने थिएन कि?

Hi everyone,
I have been also staying here in sydney. i found lot and lots of problem with guys and girls.. but these kind of information may be fals.
Some so called person make people so much tensed.. but things are quite difficult over here. If you have enough skill and good english then you can get the job over here. No i am not saying that you shall find the job easily. but it will take time..
I think we are sensible people, and we know that what we are going to do. So without giving your opinion to anyone (this is bad or this is good) be careful.. cause everything you can see is not always right, sometimes we also have to think what’s going right or wrong..
I found several message above here. everyone saying that no one have been suffered like that(Sleeping in park or footpath and so on). and i also think that no one can believe these so called information without proof.
I am totally agree with people who give their precious comments. And I also found here, that every Nepalese shows that they are helpful and kind hearted person. And this is also message to others that if everyone can think like this, then may be someday we can face every problem together in future.

Could you please let us know about the sourse of this link. I have doubt if this news is the news which is published by Annapurna Post few months ago regarding the same case when Nepalese Ambasdor had expressed condemn after publishing news.
Everybody know why nepalese students come to Australia and AHC knows the everage economic status of Nepalese. The situation which is seeing here now as news is not only by the cause of Nepalese students and it is also by the cause of Australia’s unemployment problem and present eco-crisis. I think, not only nepalese, also indian and other Asian students are doing so..
Kindly let us know the sourse of your news..I am surprised no other newspaper has given this news…

I guess, the publisher is trying to be funny in this issue
about condition of Nepalese in Australia. He has negatively taken case of this issue. I used to believe like said in news before I came in Australia. Now it’s OK. I am in Perth. Mr. newsmaster can u believe me, I got two jobs by myself in first week when I came in Australia. Life is good. I am at the end of this semester. I have paid to my college and sent 300000 rupees to my parents to pay back my loan. See, in one semester how I did. Actually it depends. Some friends are there who have different cases than mine. One friend of me came 6 months before in Melbourne, he did not get a job, upto now he is looking for job. Another friend came in Sydney and he had a job but he did not afford to pay fee for his college and he wished to go to farmhouse and spend life. Another friend of mine came in Brisbane just one month ago. He did not have relative or anyone but he got two jobs in 21 days of arrival by himself. I dont care? If you dont have energy and some sort of talancy then job is not easy here. Come here with skill then you will get a job. I wash dishes for 35 hrs per week here because of not having skills. But, I have not been frustrated in emotion. This stuff in news is really mindless. The bad habit of nepali publisher is that they never mind criticising about their own country’s matter. And about the case of colleges and university is that they are different from what they seem to be. Most of colleges are selling falsified detail of institutions in through Nepali media and consultancies. They are like home tuition house. University is really expensive. University range is AUD 7000-10000 per semester. But some friends of mine are still enrolling in University with their personal income. Please don’t try to distract mind of youth with such crazy stuff. No one is sleeping like a dog on street. Mind your language. Corrupted people dig always like this with crazy stuff. I request the government should control phenomena of nepali consultancies brooding students’ mind with wrong information of colleges. Those who have aim of study here should never come to institution or college and should apply for University. Actually as Ram Thapa said iin comment above nepalese are thought to be hardworking, sincere, honest and loyal so they are given priorities than Indian people. Never one should think negatively about state of Nepali in Australia. Actually, it’s all about feeling how you want to go. If you walk with a fever with your mindset like anyhow you should find a job here then you can find a job. Some friends come here and they want jobs come on their hands without effort then they are seen in problem. 1.New students are having difficulties in Australia but not like sleeping in park and footpath how ever if one or two student slept then this does not represent whole Nepalese Community.One or two student could sleep yesterday or today or tomorrow not only in Australian,it could be in anywhere around the world and not only Nepalese,they could be european or itself australian..
2.More responsible are Australian Government and some corrupt Nepalese agents and some corrupt Nepalese beaurocrats and some corrupt banks than Nepalese Students.They issued visa without proper investigation…(Australian Government)…they took money from fake dependents (some corrupt agents)…they issued marriage certificate (some corrupt beaurocrats)..they issued bank loan (some corrupt banks)
US never issued visa without Interview and Australian does without interview..Each and every student should be interviewed to filter genuine students.
In Generally and by law Australian government issued visa to the students who have sufficient funds to study and live in Australian during the visa period.Student should survive without any single work…So banks are now responsible in Nepal who issued only paper loan to Nepalese Students…
Anyone who have gone to Australia with paper loan only then this is a major problem.All students who have gone to Australian with paper loan only are seeking full time work because of their condition back in Nepal.If anyone issued genuine loan then they have no problems during the study period.
3.Finally Many stake holders are responsible whatever happened in Australia so from now on it should be checked properly from concern Department.
4.Not only Australia,there are problems in every where around the world from US,Japan,UK and European Countries but where ever more Nepalese go then certainly some problems arise which is Naturally…….
5.In Australia .It is more multicultural country with open society..Peoples are easy going……Compare to US,UK,Japan and European countries,it is still safe and students welcoming country for many reasons..But Nepalese Government and Australian Government should work together to provide safer pipeline to Genuinen Students otherwise Australian Government will lose its reputation and Nepalese Students will be given visas to only Somalia and Sudan.

अष्ट्रेलियाको इतिहास हेर्नेहो भने, करिब २% इन्डिजिनस(Aboriginal) देखी बाहेक सबै बाहिरबाटै आएर बसोबास गरी अहिलेको आधुनिक अष्ट्रेलिया संभब भयको हो। हुन त शुरूमा बेलायतले आफ्ना कैदी ल्यायर यहां छोड्ने गर्थ्यो र पछि तिन्कै संतान पनि नभयका हैनन तर त्यो कुराले केहि फरक परेको देखिदैन। बाँकी अहिलेको २ करोड भन्दा बढि जनसंख्यामा २२% भन्दा बढी यो देस बाहिर जन्मेका छन। अहिले यहाँ २०० भन्दा बढी देसका मानिसहरू एउटै मालामा गाँसिएर कत्ति मर्यादित भै बसेका छन्।

my heart is broken to read this news as it is totally untrue…yes obviously due to the financial crisis and the flow of many international students, it is very hard to get job so easily but the situation is not too pathetic as mentioned…the truth is that even in this worse situation nepalese students are doing good and working hard who have work and those who doesn’t have are searching door to door in the hope that one day everything will be fine…here in australia, nepalese are regarded as hardworking, sincere, polite, honest and generous as compared to other nationalities.
one thing i couldn’t understand is that why the people always write the things that is untrue which demotivates, misleads and creates negative impact to the nation rather than writing the articles that helps to motivate students to go through these hard times….
it would be better if people write the positive things which helps to think twice even to those people who is going in negative way so that they also follow the good things.
At last for the student who are making plan to come to australia, please make your finacial status so strong and be prepared mentally not to worry even if u don’t get job for 6 months or even more…..time is really hard here….

this is nonsense.I have been living in sydney for last 2 and half years but I have never seen and heard this type of things here.The writer whoever writes this nonsense most show some proof to justify that I mean any picture or so.I know student life is complicated and they have to go through hard time in Australia but you should know when you leave your country you got to face challenge right. But this doesent mean that student sleep in streets or do wrong things.I havent seen any unemployed student here.The student struggle for maximum of four months for job but sooner or leter they start earning bloddy 500 dollors a week.aaba 500 dollors le pani room ma sutna pugdaina bhanna ta alik garo huncha hola.Writer should think how parents of students in Nepal have to go with hard times after listening this news.Plz. be careful before writing this rubbish.

Hello everyone
I’ve been living in australia for past 8 yrs and its true the nepalese population have blown up ten folds compared to past.There are problems for nepalese students here but haven’t seen anyone sleeping in parks and footpath.These days people have come here to earn money rather than studying as i can hear when nepalese students speak to each other while travelling in train(guys plz be thoughtful when speaking to each other in train.Stop using bad words try to learn good things).People with poor english skill will definitely face problems in english speaking country and there are people who came as dependent paying heavy sum of money to main applicant and barely speaks english.Australia is a land of opportunity but come here as genuine student and never expect to cover ur studying expenses by working here and don’t study only for PR study for ur career and once you’re qualified PR will follow you.Finally my suggestion would be finish your studies and go back to nepal and build our own fragile country.

If you carefully read between the lines of different comments, the fact lies in betwee. My personal opinion here is, currently there is no easy life for Nepalese student who come to Australia, without any recognised skills including the language skill. Again cost of living is quite expensive. How many parents of those students in Nepal can support for those who do not have a job for six months or longer. Other thing is lot of those courses, current young Nepalese students are attending in private, less recognised colleges have no guarantee to get PR. Lot of they are simply wasting time.
I am not saying all the students are engaged in those disreputed activities, but the trend will continue, if they are not carefull, they do not come with enough backing, and they do not have the proper information.
I totally agree with Ruchi, the consultants are not their to look after your future, they are there just to make money. They will never give you clear picture or sometime they themselves don’t know.
In the current economic climate, things are getting even tougher. Australia may by land of opportunity only for those, who have the right skills, recognised good qualifications and have the motivation for hard work.
When the unemployment is in the rising trend, in term of percetange, the jobless will be international student, compared to the local residence. Also it for sure, Australia does not have unlimited job opportunities. The fact is more and more Nepalese are coming to Australia in bad time. So be mindful about it.
“Only advice will be look before you leap”. It you, who can look after your future, nobody else can create your fate when it comes to career”.

I am living here couple of years, No body stay here in park.I think AUS GOVERNMENT is not trouble with NEPALIES STUDENT because NEPALI STUDENT is best in comparison of other student.You know that lebanies and khaire of other COUNTRY Citizen are problem here.
THAT’S PROBLEM is job, because recession is facing in all over country, so we can not get easily job anywhere.

Australia wants the best of the best students of this World. That means best of the best students of Nepal too. Not rubish students who do not have any knowledge of english language, who does not know the nice culture, who do not beheave as appropriate to the benefit and safety of others (communities). The followings is the preliminary points/criteria a must to me here:
1. Make sure you pass IELTS 6.5 or over in KTM before applying to any University,
2. Make sure your character is excellent, no criminal involvement in Nepal and anywhere in this World,
Make sure you nepalese students are able to adjust to the australian societies/communities easily. That means, no sai baba, gaia baba, langurbaba, indian dalas babas, indians beggers beheaving here. Beheave what like is australian excellent citizens and that’s it.
3. Make sure you speak, read, write english and no nepali at all at home and college.
4. Make sure do not be fool as in nepal and do not try to fool australians as in nepal you do to fool nepalese.
5, be nice, intelligent, discent and do your studies, find jobs, work honestly, earn and pay the bills on time,
6. Work non-stop, learn non-stop, earn more than what you can, send money to Nepal to your poor families and help each other. Make your and your families standards higher.
7. Think, plan and implement/do you programmes beyond your capacity. You will be proud of your achievements and be qualified here in Australia.
8. It’s not that Australia wants to stop nepalese coming here. But just opposite, Australian wants best of the best citizens of Nepal with highest quality/character from Nepal.
That means limit the subish stupid people,
filter the best one and give chance for the best one.

At first, this article is “highly” exaggerated my frens. It is true that lot of students here has to go through severe difficulties such as crowded accomodations, few side jobs, and ultimately a tough lifestyle. But this does not mean that, nepalese are being seen as a bunch of burdens by the Australian Government. In fact, I have numerous example of situations where I was responded warmly when told I was a NEPALESE.
I feel so broken when the media publishes such articles. It might be true, and it is, that the Aus. Gov. is concernes about nepalese students in Australia, but the point that students sleep at parks (because of not having accomodation) is totally untrue. Many people here (in Sydney) works and studies in the CBD (main city) area, ao if they have spare time between their study classes and work, or vice-versa, they normally do so, and this is applicable with many cases. But it is totally unfair and untrue if someone says that nepalese people are sleeping at streets and creating havocs.
It is my responsibility to present here what I have seen in three years.

I came here 1.5 yrs before.Till today I haven’t seen or heard through friend the story as written in kantipur(with the reference of ambassdor).The reality is ..the life is hard if there is no job.Its really hard to get job.But luckily I have been doing well .At least A$600.00 I have been earning weekly.I have got two jobs.Its true that many friends haven’t got this opportunity.Even mine the nearest friends as well are seeking for job for the last six months. There is need to have enough patience and dedication towards the job search and work we do.Sooner or later is the only difference.

Ganesh Gurungjee no University is cheap in US as per Nepalese standard. Even government/state/city/community and religious group funded community colleges are expensive. If a person from Nepal despite of any scholarship and monetary help from parents in Nepal completes his bachelor in 5 years that I consider pretty good performance. As you might know Bachelor degree is 4 years programme here unlike 3 year honor course back in Nepal.

General Skilled Migration (GSM) Priority Processing Arrangements for 2009-10
As you may be aware, in a media release dated 12 May 2009, the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans (“the Minister”) announced that, in response to the continued economic slowdown, the Australian Government has decided that the permanent skilled migrant intake for the 2009-10 program year will be 108,100 places. .
As a result, the priority arrangements implemented on 1 January 2009 following the Minister’s direction in relation to the order of consideration of certain applications for sponsorship, nomination and visas under the Skill Stream of the Migration Program, will remain in place for 2009–10.
Consistent with that direction, visa applications under the permanent GSM Program will be processed according to the following order:
1. employer sponsorship
2. State or Territory sponsorship
3. an occupation on the Critical Skills List (CSL)
4. an occupation on the Migration Occupation in Demand List (MODL)
5. all other applications in date of lodgement order
The arrangements put in place will continue to ensure that priority is given to employer-sponsored and government-sponsored visa applications, and that skills shortages in particular fields and regional areas are addressed. Furthermore, the CSL will remain in place for those applicants who have skills in areas of critical need and are seeking to migrate to Australia without a sponsor.
How are you affected?
Your application does not fall into Groups 1-2 and your nominated occupation is not on the CSL (http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critical-skills-list.pdf).
This means that no further processing can be done on your application until all applications in Groups 1-3 have been finalised.
Based on current application rates for Groups 1-3, it is unlikely at this stage that applications which fall in Groups 1-3 will be exhausted in the 2009-10 Migration Program year and processing of Groups 4 and 5 will be delayed until this has occurred.
This arrangement applies to all applications in Groups 4 and 5, irrespective of whether health and character clearances have been provided; the date your application was submitted; whether the application is in the final stages of processing or your nominated occupation was previously on the CSL.
We will contact you again should there be any changes to the above arrangements.

Australia is the land of opportunities but the trend of nepalese people misutilizing the opportunity has lead the reputation of Nepalese people in vein. The culture of fake marriages and bringing other people as dependent for Money who doesn’t have any skills and english understanding by the consultancies has generated high negative impact.
I have been in Australia for more than 4 yrs. I studied in ACU(Sydney University). I have never heard or seen any Nepalese sleeping in park or other public places due to lack of money. That’s rubish whoever made the story.
The facts:
Business college in Australia is somewhat like computer institutes in Nepal but the universities are the real education provider and there are lots of Nepalese students who are studying Bachelor of business, master In Business admin.etc
Business college have diffferent ranges of courses like Commercial cookery( Diploma in hospitality), Diploma in hair dressing, Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in community welfare. Among them cookery, community welfare, hair dressing are eligible to apply for PR( permanent residency)
but the thing is that Nepalese consultancies advertise in a easy way that 2 yrs study will lead to PR that’s why students wanna use short-cut to get residency.
if Anyone really wanna study and make ur study worthfull which can be useful worlwide. Come in Australia and study in Universities with local students. you can feel the real learning. This can really help you in boosting your career.
At last, I wanna mantion to all the mysansar guys that Australia is not like United states of America where you can change your universities course to some cheap college and after earning certain amount, You go back to Uni that’s why students in America it takes around 5 yrs just to complete bachelor degree but in Australia If you really wanna study, study in University which will certainly help in ur career whereever u work, either Australia or Nepal. But Studying the hairdressing, community welfare and cookery in business college, its useless.
because of credit crisis all around the globe, Australian economy has also faced certain downfalls. The unemployment rate has also incresed. Not in Australia but people all around the world are losing their jobs. So, I wanna say that whoever wants to come to Australia is welcome but be careful and dont think that it’s easy to earn and study in Australia.

im here since long gone. i never heard of those sleeping in roads and park and prostitution thing happening from any of our nepalese frens up here ! of course in recent times nepalese students had to face hard times however its only a common thing. where ever you go student life is goin to be challenging. its a fact. if one is sincere and hardworking s/he can still get through from these in Aus.
Oz is a nice place to be ! besides its relatively in better position than other developed world in the current economic scenario in terms of withstanding the recession.

Hi,
To all.Its true things are not so good for overseas students in Australia now.
Main fault lies in Australian goverment policy as they dont want to loose their multimillion dollar education industry,they give visa to almost all students.They keep their eyes closed on all wrong doings of education agents and only make students suffer…
Few things be sure before coming to australia..
You need to have very good level of english with some skills.
Skill means not that you get in 2-3 wks training in Nepal like waiter/bar traings.
Even if you get job you are allowed to work 20 hrs/wk with that you can only pay your lodging plus fooding.So for fees you have to ask your home or work extra which is illegal facing deportation.
And new immigration changes have almost made it impossible for students doing MODL courses for PR ….
The priority processing Direction gives priority to applicants with employer sponsorship, state or territory nomination and those skilled migration applicants with an occupation on the CSL…
As of today no processing of MODL is being done till 2010.
So please to all..if you come to Australia with dream of settling here..do only courses in CSL(crictical skill list)..dont go for MODL course..

In my stay of three years stay in Australia , i have not seen any Nepalese ( Excepted drunks & addicts) sleeping in footpath and park. The extravaganza is too misleading …. i request nepalese journals to be skeptic on such news coz theses piece tend tomake neplease cheap who are residing in Australia.. if you the excellency want to see how many aboriginals living near to Central Station in Sydney come and have a walk of five minuters to the north of that station… i think you did not get any topic to speak and spoke this rubbish …..

i am living in brisbane since 3 yrs ,here in brisbane nobody is unemployed ,everyone has at least income for their daily living ,i have seen so many nepalese who cant afford money for college only because of limited work permit ,so whoever wants to come to brisbane make sure you have enough tution fee for your course,some student who are doing nursing have plenty of income and they send money back to home as well so you have to look your status weather you can pay for the fee or not do not come randomly ,though the living expense in aus is consderably high there is no nepali student in street or park its totally wrong message,i personally tell to all parents who have their children in aus you guys dont need to worry that much ,everything will be ok sooner or later,normally all nepali people want prompt money and want to send back to nepal which is impossible in current situation

I am also living here at Syd from 2 yrs as a resident and i have never heard that Nepalese student sleeping at parks and roads. Yes it is true that the student life is so challenging in here.
If anybody wants to come Aus as a student then u have to make up ur mind that the student life is so challenging. If u r lucky enough then u can get job easily but its tough to get job in here.
Actually students r not allowed to work more than 20 hrs legally so the employer doesnt want to offer them work.
Another thing i should aware all the nepalese students who wants to come in Aus that the college in here has not that quality as we think. They r just like tution cente of kathmandu some even worse than that. If u wanna join university then Aus has some world class uni as well so u should go thru internet.
Hey Jeewan UK, I have also read in nepali paper that nepalese girls doing sex business but never experienced here at Syd. Actually sex is legal in Aus but needs the licence but they dont issue licence of sex to student. Thats why this news is quite unbelivable. If some people do it for pleasure but not for money, i think its not that offensive.
I am so worried that now a days its frezing cold at night time in Aus.I have never heard that nepalese students sleeping in parks or roads so if students really having such problem pls contact me i am here to help u (Who is living at Syd). yes, i’ve been living in australia for two years as a student.Actually i don’t know about the nepalese students sleeping on the foothpath, but for those who don’t have strong support on their initial days in here, it’s really really tough to survive in sydney.Plz nepalese bros and sisters..australia is no more attractive destination for the students from non english countries.Even the provisions for gettinr PR are getting tougher day by day…

I am here at Sydney since 2 years. With the increase of Nepali students in Australia, Nepali students have been facing lots of problems. The situation will be very critical if government of Nepal is not going to solve this issue. But i have not seen any student sleeping at park and streets and other bad activities like prostitution. But it is true many Nepali students are working at many FARM HOUSE all over the Australia with minimum wedges.

This is absolutely bullshit news. I am sure writer just making it up. It is totally illegal to sleep or drink in the public places. Even you need Council permit to do picnic and you have to clean before you go. Well, I believe that interview is made up by Kantipur. Ambassador might have met Nepalese counterpart and talked about bilateral interests. But No way Australian diplomat talked about prostitution and sleeping in the park .BECAUSE IT IS AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT RESPONSIBILITIES TO MAINTAIN ORDER IN THIS COUNTRY FOR EVERY PERSON WHO IS IN THIS COUNTRY (INCLUDING FOREIGNERS). They won’t ask any foreign power to maintain order and discipline in their own country. It is out of the any foreign country’s jurisdiction. I don’t think Australian are this much undiplomatic and amateurs. If this is true then Australian government ask to local body to act, not to foreign diplomat WHO CANNOT EXERCISE ANY POWER, This is public domain .Any article can make lot of influence to readers. काठमाडौं (कास)- अस्ट्रेलियाली राजदूत सुसन ग्रेसले नेपाली विद्यार्थीका गतिविधि अस्ट्रेलियामा समस्या बनेको गुनासो गरेकी छन् । परराष्ट्र सहसचिव मोहनकृष्ण श्रेष्ठलाई बुधबार भेटी उनले कन्सल्ट्यान्सी कम्पनीले प्रलोभनमा पारी विद्यार्थी अस्टे्रलिया पठाएकाले समस्या भएको बताएकी थिइन् । स्रोतका अनुसार उनले विद्यार्थीले कन्सल्ट्यान्सी कम्पनीले भनेजस्तो रोजगारी र सुविधा नपाउँदा सडकपेटी र पार्कमा सुत्नेदेखि देहव्यापार जस्ता खराब क्रियाकलापमा सहभागी हुने गरेको उल्लेख गरिन् । अस्ट्रेलियामा १७ हजार नेपाली विद्यार्थी छन्

this is bullshit story…no one in australia has involved in prostution…this is fake and mouth made story…i have never seen any nepali gals envolving in such activities in australia. Mate, think more before writing! situation is bad but not that one you are trying to explain in your story.

i m also in australia ani who told tht nepalese people used to sleep in park n we cant do like tht…. we r very aware abt australian law n obey it. N MR NABIN BDR SHRESTHA there is no use of nepali certificate of training here, each employee asked abt our specialities n they asked abt our training certificate n tht must b australian,in this situation how can we find proper job????? now u r in nepal do something for urself and create oppurtunities for others also so nobody wouldnot go foreign country….

This person Arin is not Nepalese.
Students from Indian subcontinent, specially those who study Diploma level course and therefore have less study load work 2 to 3 jobs. This person Arin is trying to say that we Nepalese only work 2/3 days. I know people from other countries who do not even speak acceptable level of english but work 2 to 3 jobs. They work upto 100 hours a week.
