1. मेरोसंसारमा यसअघि राम्रो राम्रो लेख पस्किने उत्तमजीले यसपाली किन यतिसारो खत्तम लेख पस्किनु भो अचम्मै लाग्यो । समग्रमा यो लेख थोरै सत्य तथ्यहरुमा आधारित भएर गरिएको मनोगत बिश्लेषण र गलत निष्कर्ष जस्तो लाग्यो । यो लेखमा उल्लेखित तर मलाइ चित्त नबुझेका कुराहरु धेरै छन, जुन माथिका कमेण्टहरुमा आइसकेको रहे छ, मलाइ थप्न मन लागेको कुराहरु :

   १) यो लेखको शुरुवात नै गलत तथ्यमा आधारित छ किन कि सन्जय मालाकार र प्रशान्त तामाङ बीच दाँज्न सकिने समानता भन्दा दाँज्नै नमिल्ने भिन्नताहरु बढी छन । जस्तो कि
   (क) सन्जय बंगाली बाबु र अमेरिकि आमाका सन्तान हुन, प्रशान्तका बुबा आमा दुवै नेपाली हुन ।
   (ख) सन्जय आफुलाइ बंगाली ठान्दैनन प्रशान्त आफुलाइ नेपाली ठान्छन ।
   (ग) सन्जयलाइ धोति लगाउँदा लाज हुन्छ प्रशान्तलाइ ढाका टोपि लगाउँदा गर्व लाग्छ ।
   (घ) सन्जय छनौट चरण देखि नै कमजोर गायक हुँदै अघि बढेका थिए प्रशान्तले छनौट चरण देखि नै जीतको निमित्त सशक्त दावेदारी प्रस्तूत गरेका थिए ।
   (ङ) सन्जयले निर्णायकका तर्फबाट भेदभावपूर्ण प्रतिक्रिया सुन्नु परेन प्रशान्तले अति नै धेरै र एकहदसम्मको अस्वाभाविक भेदभावको शिकार बन्नु पर्यो ।
   (च) सन्जयले सँधै हल्काफुल्का र एकैखालका गीत मात्रै गाए, जब कि प्रशान्तले हरेक किसिमका गीतहरु गाएर आफु कुनै प्रतियोगिभन्दा कमजोर नरहेको बरु आफु सशक्त दावेदार रहेको प्रमाण प्रस्तूत गरे ।
   (छ) टप १० मा पुगेपछि सन्जयले जजहरुको तारीफ खासै पाउन सकेनन, उनको बेस्ट पर्फर्मन्स भनेको कन्सर्टहरु दिन कामचलाउ प्रस्तूति हुने गर्थ्यो । जब कि प्रशान्तले बीचमा बिसञ्चो हुँदाका २ हप्ता बाहेक बाकि सबै प्रस्तुतिहरुमा जजहरुको वाहवाहि बटुलेका छन ।
   (ज) सन्जय सम्पन्न परिवारमा हुर्केबढेका टिनेजर केटा हुन, जसलाइ आर्थिक बोझ र अभावको महशुस नै छैन भने प्रशान्त निम्नमध्यमस्तरका केटा हुन, जो आफै कमाएर आफ्नो परिवारको आर्थिक आवश्यकता पुरा गर्दछ । प्रशान्तको आफ्नै घर पनि छैन रहेछ, उनको परिवार डेरामा बस्छन ।
   (झ) सन्जयलाइ बंगाली भाषा वा भारतीय संस्कार प्रति कुनै लगाव नरहँदा नरहँदै पनि उनलाइ अमेरिकाभरिका भारतिहरुले समर्थन गरेको थियो भने प्रशान्तलाइ गरिएको समर्थनपछाडि उनको नेपाली संस्कृतिमा रहेको लगाव, घरमा बोल्ने नेपाली भाषा र आफुलाइ गर्वशाली नेपालीको रुपमा प्रस्तूत गर्ने कार्यहरु पर्दछन ।
   (ञ) भारतीय मूलका अमेरिकिहरुको ब्यापक समर्थनका वावजूद सञ्जय टप ५ बाटै बाहिरिए भने प्रशान्तलाइ समर्थन गर्नेहरु नेपाली मूलका भारतीयहरु मात्रै नभइ प्रहरी लगायत अन्य भारतीहरु सबै मिलेर उनलाइ टप २ सम्म पुराइसकेका छन ।
   यति धेरै असमानतालाइ बिर्सेर सन्जय र प्रशान्तको बीचमा कस्तो समानता छ भन्ने ? सन्जयको प्रस्तुति र प्रशान्तका प्रस्तुति कसरी उस्ताउस्तै भए ?

   २) दोस्रो गलत बुझाइ के हो भने प्रशान्त तामाङको जीत र हारलाइ राष्ट्रको हारजीत अनि आत्मसम्मानसँग जोडेर प्रचार गरियो भन्ने कुरो । तर मलाइ उनको जीतलाइ राष्ट्रसँगै जोड्ने धृष्टता कसैले पनि गरेको छैन जस्तो लाग्छ, कमसेकम नेपालभित्र । नेपालमा त्यस्तो प्रचार गरियो भनेर कसले भन्यो तपाइलाइ? सिक्किम दार्जिलिङले त्यस्तो प्रचार गर्न चाहे गर्न सक्छ, किन कि अमितलाइ मेघालयको दूत घोषणा गरेर सिंगो राज्य नै अमितको पक्षमा लागेको हुनाले बंगाल वा दार्जिलिङ वा सिक्किमले प्रशान्तको पक्षमा त्यस्तै घोषणा गर्दा नसुहाउने कुरो छैन । सिक्किमका मुख्यमन्त्रीले प्रशान्तलाइ जिताउन सहयोग गर्ने, मेघालयमा अमितलाइ जिताउन सरकारी स्तरबाटै कार्यक्रमहरु घोषणा भएका समाचार पनि आए, तर नेपालका कुन चाहि मन्त्री, सांसद वा नेताले त्यस्तो गरे? नेपालमा स्वत:स्फुर्त सहयोग गर्नेहरु केहिमान्छेहरु बाहेक सरकारी गैरसरकारी निकायहरु खासै लागेको छैन, तैपनि तपाइले राष्ट्रको आत्मसम्मान र प्रतिष्ठासित जोडेर प्रचार गरियो भन्नुभो । यो गलत बुझाइ हो । भारतमा नै रहेका नेपालीहरुले प्रशान्तको जीतमा आत्मसम्मान बढेको महशुस गर्ने कुरो भिन्दै हो, तर राष्ट्र (नेपाल)को सन्दर्भमा यो कुरो कसरी कुन प्रसंगमा आयो ?

   ३) प्रशान्तको स्वर मनपराउने वा नपराउने नितान्त निजी कुरा हुन । तर प्रशान्तले आफुलाइ नेपाली ठान्दा उनलाइ – तँ नेपाली होइनस – भन्दै गाली गर्नु निजी मर्यादा भित्र पक्कै पर्दैन । यदि भारतीय वा कुनै बिदेशी नागरीकता बोकेका नेपालीलाइ सफलताको कामना गर्नु नहुने, उसले आफुलाइ नेपाली भन्दा – तँ नेपाली होइनस – भन्दै खेदो खन्ने हो भने हाल बिदेशमा रहेका र निकट भविष्यमा डायस्पोरा बन्न तयारी गरिरहेका नेपालीहरुसित नेपालले कस्तो सम्बन्ध राख्ने ? कि सम्बन्ध बिच्छेद नै गर्ने पो हो कि ? किन भुटानी शरणार्थिको मामिलामा टाउको दुखाउने ? किन एनआरएनलाइ सुविधा दिइ दिइ नेपाल भित्राउने ? किन रेमिटान्स भित्राउने ? नेपाललाइ भन्दा अमेरिका युरोप वा अरवि देशहरुलाइ बढी कामलाग्ने विषयहरु नेपालमा किन पढाउने ?

   ४) कलासंस्कृति र ग्ल्यामरको दुनियाँले सञ्चार माध्यमलाइ निश्चितै रुपमा रङीन बनाउँछ, त्यसैले तिनीहरु दुनियाँ लाइ बौद्धिक तर निरस खजाना टक्राउने विद्वानभन्दा चर्चित हुन्छन । सामान्य मानिसहरु रसायनशास्त्रमा नोबेल पुरस्कार जित्ने बैज्ञानिक भन्दा सर्वसाधारणलाइ सामान्य खुशी दिने कलाकारको पछि अटोग्राफ लिन कुद्छन । वर्तमान विश्वमा स्वीकार गरिने सेलिब्रिटि यस्तै हुन्छन । पत्रकार तिनैका पछाडि दगुर्छन । न्यानो टेक्नोलोजिमा आधारित ०,२ माइक्रोमिटर इलेक्ट्रोनिक चिपको आविष्कार भन्दा पुरुषलम्पट ब्रिटनीले आवेगमा आएर छाताले पापाराजिलाइ लखेट्दै रिसाएको समाचार बढी महत्त्वको ब्रेकिङ न्यूज बन्छ । महाविर पुन, सन्दुक रुइत जस्ता ब्यक्तिहरु घरघरमा आदर्श बन्न सक्छन तर सेलिब्रिटि बन्न सक्दैनन । ब्यापारिक स्वार्थ अभिन्न अंग बन्ने सेलिब्रिटिको बजारमा जनतालाइ खुशि बनाउन सक्ने कलाकारहरु नै ग्राह्य हुन्छन । तिनीहरुको ठाउँमा बिदेशीहरुको सेवामा तनमन अर्पिने विद्वानहरुलाइ सेलिब्रिटिको रुपमा हेर्नु पर्ने आग्रह सार्थक होला भन्ने मलाइ लाग्दैन ।

2. उत्तम जी को बिचार सित सदा सहमत हुने मान्छे हुँ म यथार्थलाइ कलात्मक सैली मा प्रस्तुत गर्नुहुन्छ वहाँ, तर प्रशान्तलाई भोट हाल्न नसक्ने वा तथष्ट वस्ने राष्टवादी होइनन् भन्ने किसिमको तर्क उहाँले कहाँ सुन्नु भयो कुन्नी ! यसै प्रसंगलाई जोडेर लामै लेख लेख्नु भएछ । अनि साथ साथै उदित , मनिषालाई अवसरको खोजीमा निस्केका अवसरवादी सेलिव्रिटीहरु भनि आफ्नो रिश ओकल्नु भएछ । उत्तम जी यो त हजम भएन नी ! तँपाईले उदित र मनिषाको बारेमा यी शब्दहरू ओकलेर साँच्चै नै उनीहरुको योगदानलाई under estimate गर्नु भएको छ । यस्तै शब्दहरुले हुन् “ए नेपाल ! संसारकै दरिद्र र समस्या नै समस्या भएको देश अनि असन्तोषीहरुको देश” भनेर तँपाईको मुखेन्जी कथाकथित प्रध्यापकहरुले भन्ने आँट गरेका । पहिला आफु नेपाली हुँ भन्ने भावना नै बसाल्नुहोस् । त्यसपछि categories गर्नुहोला कि को कुन पार्टि को हो र कसले नेपालमा गएर निरंकुशताको भजन गायो या गणतन्त्रको राप अलाप्यो भनेर ।
   प्रशान्तलाई भोट हाल्न नसक्ने वा तथष्ट वस्नेहरू भोट नहालुन् तर जो चाहन्छन र सक्छन् तिनिहरूले गरेको काम मा त भाँजो नहाल्नुस् । अमेरिका पुगे भन्दैमा एसियाली मुलुकमा ब्याप्त “जसको शक्ति , उसको भक्ति” को परम्परालाई किन बिर्सनु हुन्छ ? गाउँ गाउँबाट मान्छे ल्याएर खुल्लामंचमा गरिएको शक्ति प्रदर्शन हेरेर हुर्किएका हामी नेपालीहरू लाई राम्ररी थाहा छ यहाँ केही गरेर देखाउन सकिए टिक्न सकिएला तर केहि नगर्ने हो भने “पानीमरुवा” नै भईन्छ । गणतन्त्रको राप अलाप्नेहरुले यहाँका हरेकलाई यहि पाठ सिकाउदैछन् । अरु त अरू यहाँ चलचित्र प्रदर्शनमा समेत अब यहि नियम लागु भईसक्यो भन्ने कुरामा तँपाई सायद बेखबर हुनुहुन्छ होला । प्रसंग जोडि हालौ , यसै साता देखि काठमाण्डौमा प्रदर्शित चलचित्र “रक्तिम क्रान्ति” को । नेपालको पहिलो महिला निर्देशक मौनता श्रेष्ठद्वारा निर्देशित चलचित्र “प्रेम युद्ध” गत शुक्रबार देखि प्रदर्शन हुने पक्का थियो तर चलचित्र बिकाश बोर्डमा गरिएको माओबादीकरण का कारण हाल काठमाण्डौका हल हरू जबरजस्ति रक्तिम क्रान्तिमय भएको छ । यस्तो परिस्थितिमा मनिषाले नेपालमा आएर गणतन्त्रको राप अलापे नेपाली भनेर गर्व गर्नै नभए आन्दोलनताका निरंकुशताको पक्षपोषण गरेर दुई शब्द बोलिन् भन्दैमा उनको योगदान लाई नजरअन्दाज लगाउन खोज्नु कहाँ सम्मको न्याय हो ? अनि उदितले केही गरेनन भन्ने जुन यहाँको गुनासो छ, कम्तिमा उनले नेपालीको ठगेर त खाएका छैनन। मेहनत र संघर्षले बल्ल बल्ल त्यतिको उचाई हासिल ग‌र्यो नेपालीले भनेर खुशी हुनुपर्ने हैन र हामी ?
   अम्बर गुरुङ, अरुणा लामा, गोपाल योञ्जन , तुलसी घिमिरे , प्रताप सुब्बा लाई नेपाली भनेर गर्ब गर्ने छात्ति प्रशान्तलाई नेपाली भन्नमा खुम्चन्छ भने पक्का छ त्यो छात्तिमा “सयौं थुङ्गा फूलका हामी,एउटै माला नेपाली…” राष्ट्रिय गीत अझै भिजेको छैन अनि “….अग्रगामी राष्ट्र हाम्रो,जय जय नेपाल” भनेर त्यो शिर उभिने छैन । के प्रशान्तलाई नेपाली भन्न हिचकिचाउने त्यो छात्तिले अम्बर गुरुङलाई नेपाली मान्ला र ? त्यसैले एउटा कुरा नभुलौ प्रशान्तको सफलताले नेपालीलाई कुनै फाईदा देख्नु हुन्न होला तर घाटा पनि हुनेवाला ‍न। बरु दशगजाले हाम्रो भूगोल बाहिर पारिदिएर दशकौंदेखी दबिएर बसेका ति हाम्रा दाजुभाई हरूको पीडामा मलहम लाग्नेछ।

   You are really really a narrow minded person. Use your energy for a good cause than hating some fellow Nepali who is more Nepali than people like you.

   I wonder why such hateful article is even allowed in this blog. I am very much disappointed to see that most of the commentors do support such narrow minded article. I am very disgusted. That is the reason we Nepali are always poor, because of minds are “poor”.

   uttam, i’m lost reading your featured article, it’s all mixed up, patched up and lacks a clear vision. (hold it, before u jump into a conclusion, think for a moment…)

   for there is a discrete difference between an Apple and an Orange. it is intellectually impairment to compare one with other.

13. ok.. some people think that the people posting the comments are not in line with the idea of the writer.. i have gone through this post a few times. i know what the writer wants to convey. he thinks that this programme is just an entertainment programme and one should let it be so. its got nothing to do with nepali identity or pride..

    residing in the united states of America (the most powerful yet the most बेखबर country in the world), the writer is entitled to this view. i am sure he has not watched a single episode nor has he felt the pulse of the masses here. he has hypothesized what must be going on in our heads and arrived at a conclusion.

    it is an entertainment programme. i agree. its driven by profit. i agree again. prashant is an indian. i agree. these are simple facts. of course they are true. and based on these facts and some other facts about manisha and udit, mr uttam has come up with an article. good writing skills… but wrong conclusions..
    u have to feel it to experience it.simulators are good, but don’t compare them to the real thing.
    the feeling here is simple. a nepali is doing well in an indian reality show. simple as that. not a nepali by birth but by affiliation. and not just a simple affiliation but an affiliation of heart. he claims to be a nepali ,and has done so in the programme. he is proud to be a nepali. and nepalis in nepal and Darjeeling and rest of india are proud of him. isn’t this enough? is pride something to buy in the back streets of new york? isn’t it something which is spontaneous?
    and what were his comments in the programme? what did he say? those who live abroad may not be aware of this.. but i watched him perform.. and when he was greeted with such jeal in dargeeling, he said he was happy, he would do more, entertain more people, try to win this contest, loved the support from all his voters and he would never let them down. to add to this, he said his BIGGEST achievement was to bring all the nepali people together regardless of politics and regardless of their caste and creed. and this, in a programme watched by millions. that’s what he said. my biggest achievement is that i have proven that a nepali’s son can reach this height and bring all the nepali people together regardless of all the political divides and caste and boundry and all. isn’t this what we need at this juncture? what’s wrong with someone who has become a celebrity and who is watched by millions wishing for an era of nepali unity and nepali pride?
    when was the last time when nepalis had gotten such a publicity in the indian media? during “Hritick Roshan” riots? or during “Iraq incidence?” or maybe during “indian airlines hijacking”? the publicity was there but for all the negative reasons. and now when one of our own is rising through the ranks to become an icon, all we can do is write up an article based on a hypothesis which tries to snub his only lifeline.

    What an apathy from another hyporcatic educated person who enjoys the western comfort and try to preach nationalism and self-esteem to common Nepalese People.Being a migrant and second class citizen in somebody else’s world you should know what Prashat Tamang must have been through, I am sure you must have gone through same situation.Hence do not throw stones if you live in house of glass.

    यहाँले घोकेर बिद्याभूषण ( भू दीर्घ हुन्छ सर ) पाउनुभयो भन्दैमा ‘कमलपित्तले ग्रसित आँखा भएको जमातले’ भन्दै नेपालीहरुको स्वविवेक माथी लान्छना नलगाउनोस। पढेलेखेका मान्छेहरुले पनि प्रशान्तलाई समर्थन गर्नु जायज ठानेका छन्। तपाई या उत्तमजीको खोक्रो भाषणलाई मन नपराउँदैमा कसैको आँखा बिग्रदैन। बरु तपाईंले आफैले केहि गर्न नसक्ने, अनि अरुको प्रगति पनि देख्न नसक्ने लाचार आडम्बरी चरित्र देखाइरहनुभएको छ। विद्वताको घमण्ड छ भने आउनोस शीष्ट भाषामा बहश गरौं।

First of all article is nicely written and no one can define patriotism on the basis of place where the person is living. So it doesn’t mean that uttam ji doesn’t have right to comment on this. Now prashant is singing well and if u watch that programme u can feel that everyone related to that programme(besides his compititor) are somewaht biased to prshant and i myself feel that. Noone can goway from the fact that he has tremendous talent and potential. So being nepali we have to support him .     The negative comments vindicates the level of education and intelligence. For them who thinks India is world, anything to everything Indian is good for them, Indian Idol, Movies, Soap Operas,Songs. For them it is enough to be recognized in/by India that is the greatest achievements in their entire life.These people are totally enslaved by Indian culture they take India as heaven and Indians are god.So, it’s not a surprise to see comments praising “Indian” Idol and criticising all other Nepalese. Their day starts praising Indian celebrities and ends watching Indian teleserials.

    Among these kind of people no wonder Uttamjee’s article is critisized because it is highly sophisticated and some what complicated matter and it tries to break through national boundaries when it comes to Nationalism and love of the particular nation.But for those, when Indian filmstar gets married that becomes talk of the day,will they understand that at all?? Doesn’t the fact say it all, Indian Idol articles gets more than hundred comments where as serious matters are being unnoticed?? Moreover, the issues with no importance and just for fun gets lot of comments and some serious political discussions and issues of national interests are ignored.     I am also a graduate student in Boston.I know many people around university and I meet many Teachers and student from different University who really care about Nepal.How big?climate?population?And I know many people who have been to Nepal really express satisfaction about the simple living over there in Nepal.I am shocked to hear from you that a professor of Boston Univeristy said so.May be you said something which he dosenot accept easily that s why he used sarcastic words.So there must be your fault.A professor in University who cares about world knows very well how many people are hungry in USA,LONDON,India ,Africa and many other part of world.

Uttamji,This is indeed nice analysis.However,your article deserves to be irrational since this is absolutely against the sentiments and will of Nepali people.Having lived in USA,you might have probably felt the demarcation of descrimination between Nepali and Indian.But you have never ever gone through the bitter experience being yourself there.The people who are dying to make Prasant an indian Ideal are more knowledgeble than what you have thought.Can I ask you why the chinese all over the world are proud of Yau Ming,Jackie Chan and else?Have they done anything for the sake of Chinese in mainland,Taiwan,Singapur,HK?We never have to anticipate a big job done from Udhit,Manisha as their names are big assets to all of us.You probabbly have earned some dollors in your volume but why dont you think of utilising for good cause?To the contrary you are expecting form Udhit and Manisha who are earning at the cost of being Nepali.

     One thing I could not understand is the way few people commented.Maybe the writer mentioned that he is currently in the US otherwise I donot see any reason to comment that way.Its not that those who have such feeling should be in Nepal.Yes people with great mind if stay in the country, it can help but its not that they need to be there and otherwise can not put forward their views.Its not justice to the writer.      – Please think always positive instead of negative. If you analyse negative way, you will never ever find out the positive thinks.

     – As a journalist, he had encouraged people to vote him without any discrimination but as a human bening. Prasanta is not a kin relationship of any one either you or me or who had critisied.

     – It is not good characterstic to develop the habit of critisism over critisism. some thime that creates bad result instead of good result.

     – I appreciate that you might have participated in the dream of Mahabir Pun’s communication project in Nepal. I hope you will continue such participation in other several developmental activities of Nepalese society.

     – The previous article was leading for harreshment instead of encouragement and there was not smell of pre-condition for the SMS support. Yes! Who they do not want to send SMS, they have their own decision. Where ever we are, the cost of SMS is not a big deal but we should have a willingness. If you have a positive thinking and willingness, you can donate or spent or support and you will never be poor but your height will be higher and higher day by day.

     – As you mention about the Boston University Professor/Teacher’s openion about Nepal, how many people are killing every day in all over USA in every day?      very excellent article.Almost two year ago i travel to india almost all.From that,travell i collect some concept of indian towards nepali.When i have been in Heredwar,lots of nepali from western nepal,are there.wearing very dirty cloth and bad small.I respect them because they are nepali,but when i go to shop to buy some cloth one of my indian friend pointout these people and try to dominated to nepali people.I try to make strong agaist with him.After few
     days latter,i travel to dehli,where a place called PAHADGUNG,i meet some nepali frind,but i found same condition there also.When i reached to mumbai,there is also same problem.i challanged lots of indian people nepali brain is far better than any indian.Comeon i prove u.So that those people who travel to india they fell the true love of nationality.until today dated i myself travel seven country,but except india,i never fight about nationality.because of indian mentality nepali or nepalimother toung people are on stage or any highlight point,show that nepali people arenot only
     labour,they are intillent.So by this mean win of prasant tamang is the win of nepali mothertoung.

They are focusing more on the reverse part of of the coin, Nepalese are not only ‘Bahadur or Durwan’ they are intellectual mind too. Most recently a student secured top score in a world class business school in Europe, where is the media?
