अपडेट (दिउँसो २४५) : निर्वाचनमा कूल ५७८ मत खसेको छ। ५९४ जना मध्ये १६ जना अनुपस्थित भएका छन्। अनुपस्थित हुनेमा नेमकिपाका पाँच, राष्ट्रिय जनमोर्चाका चार, राप्रपा नेपालका चार, नेकपा एकीकृतका दुई जना रहेका छन्। त्यसैगरी काँग्रेसलाई पनि एक भोट घाटा लागेको छ। काँग्रेस सभासद आरजु देउवा विदेशमा रहेकाले मतदान गर्न पाएनन्। मतगणना ३३० देखि सुरु हुने भनिएको छ।

आजै संविधानसभाको बैठक बस्ने, सोही बैठकमा राष्ट्रपति र उपराष्ट्रपति निर्वाचनको परिणाम घोषणा हुने। बहुमत प्राप्त नभएमा बढी मत ल्याउने दुई उम्मेदवारबीच अर्को निर्वाचनको मिति संविधान सभा अध्यक्षले तय गर्नेछन्।

It is very clear that Maoist is only the party that really want to create inclusiveness and a balanced power structure. UML and NC only choose Madhesi and women to make them active when there is less chance to win. Why they did not see any Madhesis and women ? To me, these party have failed to reflect inclusiveness in practice. Subordination of second sex(women) and marginalizations of various forms with patriarchy is ruling the mentality of these party. It is very good to be fair and straightforward like Maoist, a good lesson to be learnt by other political parties as well as individuals.
If you want to do something do it by heart, not only to pretend of doing. UML and NC are dragged finally to Maoist’s vision of respecting marginalized and women, Thanks to Maoists. Ganga Kharel, Reading, UK.

New alliance is born; ‘president to NC, veep to MJF and CA chair to UML’
In a sudden shift in political equation, three parties – Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) – have agreed to share the three key positions – president, vice-president and chair of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
As per the understanding reached at a meeting of the three parties Saturday morning, just ahead of the presidential election, UML and MJF have agreed to back NC’s presidential candidate Dr Ram Baran Yadav while MJF’s Paramananda Jha will get support for the vice presidential slot. Likewise, UML has settled for the chair of the CA.
However, the three parties will have to bring few other allies on board to reach the magic number, 298, in order to materialise their agreement.
The ‘new alliance’ was born after the Maoists refused to back both UML and NC candidates for the post of the president, and instead went ahead with its own candidate.
Negotiations between the Maoists and MJF leaders this morning had failed.
MJF parliamentary leader Bijaya Kumar Gachhedar said after the meeting that his party would not support Maoist presidential candidate, Ram Raja Prasad Singh, as they refused to back MJF candidate for vice presidential slot.
Two other Madhesi parties, Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) and Sadbhawana Party (SP), which had pledged support to Singh, are yet to comment on the new alliance of NC, UML and MJF. nepalnews.com mk July 19 08

I can’t understand why UML choose to support controversial name Jha as VP instead of taking president post by naming any other person than Makune.Whoever wins this election, one thing for sure UML loose the game.

The first suggestion (by Pushpa Nepali) sounds quite reasonable, whereas the last one (Sapana’s) is full of prejudice. Since the beginning, some UML top leaders have sufferred parliament syndrome, where they say – “everything is possible in politics”.
The majority party in the CA should be praised for keeping the prinicple intact even at such a difficult period which is very important for the country (to have a diginfied party with value of prinicples). Let UML’s CA members be enlightened by small amount of sincerity if they still have it. It is waste of time to seek the same from NC, as it has been a party with less dedication to the priciples.

१) यो समय देशका लागि अत्यन्त नाजुक छ। एमालेका मित्रहरुले क्षणिक भावावेशमा नआइकन ठन्डा दिमाग ले निर्णय लिने ऐतिहासिक बेला आएको छ। एमाले एक जिम्मेवार पार्टी हो र हतारमा निर्णय गरेर फुर्सदमा पछूताउने पार्टी होइन भन्ने प्रमाणित गर्ने औसर पनि हो यो।
२) पहिलो राष्ट्रपती समाबेसी हुनु पर्छ भन्ने माओवादीको भनाइ नाजायज थिएन । पहिले नै माओवादीले सुझाए जस्तो सहाना प्रधान वा त्यस्तै अन्य कसैलाई एमाले ले अनुमोदन गरिदिएको भये कुनै समस्या नै आउने थिएन। एकोहोरो माधव नेपालको नाम जपेर बस्नु एमालेको गम्भिर भुल हो। एक माघले जाडो जादैनथ्यो र भबिस्यका लागि माधव नेपालको ब्यक्तित्व अरु चम्किन्थ्यो। तर दुर्भाग्य, त्यो मौका बितिसकेको छ!
३) अब कम समय मात्र बाँकी छ उचित निर्णय लिनका लागि। उपलब्ध थोरै बिकल्पहरु मध्ये एमालेले रामराजालाई राष्ट्रपतीमा समर्थन गर्ने र माओवादीले अस्टलक्ष्मीलाई उपरास्ट्रपतीमा समर्थन गर्ने बिकल्प सबैभन्दा उत्तम देखिन्छ। आखिर रामराजा कुनै माओवादी नेता नभएर स्वतन्त्र ब्यक्तित्व पनि त हुन नि! कमसेकम देशको एकताको लागि उनिबाट कुनै पार्टी प्रति बफादार नरही निस्पक्ष्य काम हुनेछ भन्ने विश्वास लिन सकिन्छ।
४) खबर्दार! रिसको झोंकमा आएर मधेसी फोरम जस्ता बिखन्डनवादी पार्टीलाई हिरो बनाउने गल्ती नगरियोस। तेसो गरिएमा त्यो एमालेको लागि आत्मघाती मात्र नभइ पतन को वास्तविक सुरुवात हुनेछ। न त देशको लागिनै शुभ हुनेछ। म माओवादीको पनि आलोचक हुं तर यो मामिलामा माओवादीले गरेको निर्णय लाई गलत भन्न सक्दिन।
५) मान्नु नमान्नु बेग्लै कुरा तर हाललाई सबैभन्दा बढी जनमत पाएको पार्टि माओवादी नै हो। यो वास्तविक्ता लाई इन्कार गर्न सकिन्न। प्रजातन्त्रमा विश्वास राख्ने हो भने उस्लाई सरकार गठन गर्न बाट रोक्नु हुँदैन। यस्ता कुनै पनि षड्यन्त्रका पछाडि एमालेलाई बहकाउने प्रयास हुन सक्छ त्यो कुरा बिर्सनु हुँदैन। अस्तु।
