लोक गायक कुमार बस्नेत एकचोटी साइप्रसको निकोसियाको फूटपाथमा हिँड्दै गर्दा नेपाली धून सुनेछन्। कपिराइटको कुराभन्दा पनि उनलाई त गर्व लागेछ त्यो सुन्दा। केही समयअघि एउटा कार्यक्रममा उनले व्यक्त गरेको उनको अनुभव उनकै आवाजमा सुन्नुस्-

When I was returning back from my work in last dashain…may be on fulpati..I heard group song in nepali language .I just approached to that song to identify which song they were singing…It was beautiful song called ”resham firiri” with madal..I was so excited and felt proud of myself.

My friends firstly, please bring the similar kind of nepalese music or tune if you have heard around the world which will be interested to all nepalease people. Secondly, english is ofcourse our secod/third language let Kumar dai to speak, if he wants, no need to spend so much time to coment for this. Bit boring coment after coment about his ability to speak english and guys’ spelling error. guys my english is worst no need spend time to coment for this one. bring up nepalese tune in different language…like kumar dai brought ..

Well, if a Italian speaks english in his typical italian accent then we find it cool. Or when a Japanese speaks english with his Japanese accent we forgive him for his ignorance. So we need not make a big fuss for Kumar Basnet’s Nepali Accent. Now the concept that english should only be spoken in American or British accent is obsolete. The main thing is to make the message clear. Hence as long as Kumar Basnet is able to convey what he wants to say to the audience, his accent does not matter.
Believe me if everyone speaks English like American and British it will be a very boring world. The diversity is what makes the world intersting.
Wow, this is awesome. The feeling he got when singer Kumar Basnyat heard his own music on the foreign land Cyprus while walking on the street is amazing and great. I would have felt the same had I heard the Nepalese music here in Ethiopian Restaurant in Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Music has no boundary. We always enjoy the melodious tune because our heart feels it beat by beat. Always try to listen melodious music if you are under pressure or stress because it helps to relax and calm. Sometimes, it also motivates your body to do something with excitement, energy and vibe. Life is about discovering the path to happiness. Use music as a tool whenever you like to do thing with focus, concentration, determination and extra energy to achieve your goal.

Why are we after kumar basnet’s english? Why dont we appreciate what he has done to nepali folk music and cluture. He has at least made nepali culture remain alive and worked hard to bring nepali thet bhasa to modern generation. We need more kumar basnet than many half english half nepali speaking nepali. He spoke in english as he knew and learnt. its not his language. but in nepali he is fluent so thats all counts for us. he is nepali so as long as he is fluent in nepali it doesnot matter how much english he knows.

I was in New York last year to visit statue of Liberty with my friends. There was a person who was standing with voilion. He asked me my country. When I said me from Nepal he started to play national anthem from Nepal. I was so suprised and happy that I gave him $10.
