7. Nepalese army can’t find maoists and run away when they see them with weapons. But, they become terrorist when they see any girl. They do not show respect to the people of Nepal. Their mind is filled with sex and violence. Its the army who raped the girl and they fired at the innocent people who were there to protest against that….shame, shame, real shame on you Nepalese Army….You are never responsible towards the Nepali people. You only know to lick the shoes of your master Gyane….Whole army’s mind is corrupted….I myself have faced that many times. People say Maoists are terrorists and they are true. In comparision, Army is more infamous terrorist than the maoists. You first raped the innocent girl and then killed those who were there to get the justice. I have a question to all. Is there any type of system in Nepal or not??? Has our country Returned to the stone-age ???? No one seems to be responsible towards the people. When is this situation going to change?? It seemed like, its going to change soon. But no….Did people did protest just for that??? What was the value of those who died in the protest? Why are Nepalese people silent when they should be protesting more against whole Political circle??? 13. I agree with the comments and observation made by Anitya. Let’s see if the so-called leaders have learned any thing over the last 14 months. If they still go after the “bone thrown at them” by the king, the people’s power will bring them to their knees. Afterall, the same power showed to the king what people’s power is really like.Leaders, hope you are learning from the past, and don’t you ever forget that the most powerful power in Nepal, for that matter in any nation, is the people. And, the government should be “of the people, by the people, and for the people,” as observed by a great leader.

I support Umeshji’s novel and excellent suggestion that the PM and other ministers hsould take oath of office in Tundikhel in broad daylight, right in front and full view of the brave Nepali people, who have made these guys PM and ministers. That is, if these so-called “popular leaders” have one-thousandth of the courage and thinking ability of the people that are teaching them whom the country belongs to and how to deal with the so-called king! The problem is that these so-called leaders are addicted to the pieces of bone that the king occasionally throws at them. These leaders’ mindset is that the ccountry is the king’s personal property, that the ministerial positions are a personal reward for loyalty, that national soverignty rests with the king, and that the people are incidental. Given this mindset that the present-day leaders have, we can almost expect the ministers, led by their guru, Giri-jaa, quitely/secretly, probably in the dark of night, sneak into the palace for the king’s blessing. The people and their counrty desperately need leaders who have their head in the right place, their heart in the right place, and faith in people power, and who have a little courage and are living in the right age.

    To be very honestly, I am not a prejudice, and not provoked too. Without any biasness, as a good wisher of the whole Nepalese people who are living in the nation and outside, I am expressing my thoughts on the Maoist movement in Nepal.
    Maoist! It’s your time of self evaluation. What was your recent past and what’s the current situation. You may grab the current situation as the opportunity to land you safely as the civilized human being. You did lots with the Nepalese people, what you did in your past, did you do something against of the King Gyanendra, did you do anything against the artificial rallies organized by the Royalist in different part of the Nation during this king’s autocratic ruling. Besides that you brutally murdered the great social worker the Hindu Priest Narayan Pokharel, Head Sir late Mukti Nath Adhikary, and in around 56 teacher’s who were lived in the rural part of the nation. In around a decade of civil war, Nepal have cost over 11,000 lives and established a pattern of calculated and deliberate war crimes by both the Maoist rebels and the security personnel. Here, I want to focus on the moist activities, so I want to say that Maoist rebels shot dead several teachers, low profile political leaders and security personnel, farmers, students and other several innocent lives. Not only that they also killed persons who were worked for the international development agencies and diplomatic mission. For example, in 2002, late Deepak Prasad Pokharel, the security supervisor for the US Embassy in Nepal, was shot dead while sleeping at his home in Kathmandu. The Maoists also have been abducting the youth including minors, women and tea chers to force them to participate in ‘Peoples’ Militia Training Campaign’ and organization meetings. Here is a example;

    As I know, the Maoist party’s strategy and tactics are based on traditional Maoist guerilla war principles. When they announced the ‘People’s War’ on February 13, 1996, with the slogan “let us march ahead on the path of struggle towards establishing the people’s rule by wreaking the reactionary ruling system of state” With the believe in the philosophy of Mao Tsetung that “Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun”, we lost several lives and development infrastructures. Instead of that what we gained?
    I have lots of things to blame you, but I do not want, because I have realization on your doings that you tried to do it for the prosperity and development of the Nepalese people, but the way you choose was extremely unhealthy and outdated. So, now you are getting an opportunity for the self realization and correction. If you say once that you were mistreated by that time Nepal government, palace and other authorities, so that you adopted this path, now you want to correct yourselves and you want to feel guilty, then Nepalese people will certainly forget your brutalities and they will welcome you to come and join the Nepalese mainstream. So, please stop your ongoing activities and try to turn yourselves towards the civilized world.

26. Nepal: What is in it for India
    Nepal has been in the news for the past few months for some wrong reasons. This small country have always had shaky relations with India. Since Indian independence the Nepalese public has most times abhorred India. It seems to harbour fantansies about their larger northern neighbour. It has felt that India has been a bully – a kind of big buly big brother . However, in moments of crises ( like the current crisis) they have always looked upto India to come to their help.

    There have been many instances in the past when trouble has been fomented and Indian establishments and Indian individuals were targeted by certain elements in Nepal. India ,in close coordination with the US , has done the right thing this time by pressurising the monarch with dubious credentials to conform to popular demands. However, India should see to it that the average Nepalese sees it that way and that he does not go back to his old habit of India-bashing at the fall of a pin.

    India have done many a noble things in the past – assisting in the liberation of Bangladesh, backing the anti-aparthied struggle in South Africa, helping crush the Maldives coup attempt, helping bring peace to Sri Lanka etc. But in most cases has allowed the prerogative to slip away. The Indian involvement in SL costed it dear. Bangladesh has been a stark eye-opener. India did the right thing in liberating this country but it does not enjoy its rightful place in the policies of this country. Terrorists have made Bangladesh their breeding ground while the government their does not give the obvious weightage to Indian companies in oil and gas deals. Nor does it do anything to staunch the relentless flow of its citizens to India.

    The moral of the story- If the Nepalese people expect India to bring their monarch to his knees they should give up India-bashing . The Indian government should see to it that the powers to be in Nepal never turn their back on India or resort to their old habits of playing the China card to intimidate India.

It is equally eye opening for Indian establishment to practice what you preach, if harmonious relations and mutually supporting development policy and relations are to be developed and championed with all of the neighboring countries.

    I just wanted make a comment on this.

    Nehru was PM and when Nepalese Monarch (grandfather of the Current one) had to flee to India just after the independence of india, The king was made to sign this,

    “Nepal will never claim the land that was part of nepal before the war with British, provinces such as Darjelling, assam, meghalaya, half of the UP and Bihar as well as Himanchal Pradesh”.

    When India was liberated, the lands whould have been returned to nepal if you claim to be a fair and kind hearted.

    King of that time signed it because he had no option. If you dont believe me read the publications of Nepalese Maoists, they have made it clear in details.

    But does any Indian know of this ???? do you tell your kids that this was the history, I guess no which you should have taught to generations to stop comments like ” what is in there for india”remember, over 2 million indians live in nepal.

    In terms of Bangladesh, It was a strategic decision because with Bangladesh, pakistan would have been proved a pain to every living indians, so for the sake of your own country you had to get involved, that was a strategic decision in the favor of india.

    In terms of Foiling the Coup in maldives, the correct sentense would be ” in order to save indian interest we saved a dictator who was most favourable to India an gave the country to him to be looted” my advice is to correct accordingly and i dont believe anyone will thank for that.

    In terms of Srilanka , is the writer suggesting that one should thank India ???? well as far as I know India has already received “thanks” in following form. Life of Rajiv gandhi, lives of thousand of special force personnel and a Billion dollar bill and a lemonish relationship with the rest of the Asia.

    In terms of Maoist breeding ground, the actual breeding ground may be india as majority of nepalese and indians believe it to be the case because of the quick expansion in india as half of the india is now effected by the maoist and rest half may get effected soon. so keep ey on it.

    When the situation is getting that much worse, you should keep friendly relations with the neighbours because u need somewhere to run when trouble comes and best places i can see are bangladesh, nepal , bhutan as well as Srilanka, i dont think anyone dares to cross kashmir to go to pakistan.

    And with the current speed of the maoist expansion in india, the trouble is not far.

    In summing up if Bangladesh, Nepal are not doing well, it is because of India. India cannot see someone else getting better.

    One has no option left by India other than looking at china. this is not a wish of nepal, but without this there may not be a nepal so shiv ji’s third eye is opened torwards north finding south very hot.

    Last one, please please, in terms of future, who knows what lies ahead.

I have heard that people who were elected in the royal local election what so called democractic followers destroying their house and putting black on their is that what we are supposed to do in democracy? of couse not, there are laws which can be used for them to punish but in our country this is not going to happen for sure. I’m sorry, but wasnt the majority of the foce that came to topple the king come from the MAOIST, or the people who support their agenda?, if that is true, should they not be involved as immidietly, if not more than the SPA? I do not kno much of the insides on mao and the pa, but I believe, the spa has proved to be a traitor more or less in the eyes of maos. MAOS abided by their turfs for the past months and more for the revolution to go on without hiderence.
    There are many more villagers who want something from this development and they have piggybacked on maoism for a long time. Not resorting to their usual tactics by the MAOSITS is not giving thse people a voice in their own manner, because when push came to shove, that is what the resorted to.

    Also do not take any sallary since the house was disolved. If possible also do not take sallary onward now till truely elected body is establish. The reason is that you are not duely appointed representative, the present reinstatement of the house was mostly from the pressure of the general mass and part of the present problem were created by you guys. In that sense you should have that courgae to sacrifice sallary till you are duely elected by the people.

67. This is not good sign that leaders are giving importance to the portfolios rather than agendas. Who becomes PM or DPM is not important. First make your programs clear and anybody can become PM or DPM.

    1. Immediately establish contact with the maoist leadership and convince them and ask them to announce ceasefire immediately.

    2. Involve the maoist in interim government. May be you have to take the help of CPM India to convince the maoists.

    3. Announce the election of constituent assembly.

74. I think the rallies and the Maoist blockade will be useful (as much as it can be) to remind the political parties not to mess up once again (ala 1990). We cannot afford that to happen again. The blockade will cripple life in the cities, but that will make the SPA and the HoR go for Constituent Assembly elections as soon as possible. Are the Maoists going to be involved in the interim government which will hold these elections? Or are the SPA leaders too greedy for ministerial posts?

    It will also be interesting to see the 5 MPs who were part of the king’s cabinet in the HoR. I was reading an article Sanjay Upadhya (in State of Nepal, ed. Dixit & Ramachandaran 2002) and he thinks one of the mistakes the political parties and the public made after 1990 was to accpet the former mandales easily. 20 seats in the midterm elections! Part of the coalition government after the fall of the UML minority government! Hope that will not be repeated again. We should not allow these people to come back into the fold again. They just proved that they cannot be trusted and their belief in democracy is fake.
