  8. It is not illegal. Public should get benefits of new technology. They should have choice to avail best services with low cost. Thanks to technological advancement that people now can call their dear ones/friends abroad in low cost.

If a car is invented that is driven by water instead of petrol. NOC can not put restriction on that car because its petrol sell would be hampered.

  9. hello Kirshna Ji
Tapai Affu kamuna nasiyeara aru ko kamai ma daha ra irsha garnu bako ho ki kasai lea tapai lai pisa diyeko ho? Tapai Jasto website ma news lekne manche lea bina dimga kasari news rakhanu huncha. Tapai NTC ko revenue ko kura garnu huncha. How much you pay for NTC per months. Have you ever used direct calling to abroad. Do you know about the 1445? If no then read this. 1445 tech is also using voip. If 1445 is the cheap rate for nepali people to call abroad then why we cant’ used 2 cent to call aborad after all we are geting cheap and best. Yeadi tapai aru kasari lea reverne ko karan desh dubne kura garnu huncha bane. How much you pay the TAX for Nepal shakar. Ra tapai afai pani bidesh ko server used gardai hunu huncha. Yeadi tapai sachai kai desh ko revenue kura garnu hucha bane why dont u used nepali server. So the nepal sharkar will too get some tax from it. So I request you please used your brain before you worte something. I dont think this kind of writing will show your Professionalism.

  10. Well, good thread going on. One of the cheapest way to call nepal is Yahoo Messenger with voice, for kathmandu, they charge 19c a minute, and from ktm it is around 2c a minute. But one disadvantage while calling from nepal,
they have bandwidth of around 2kb , which sometimes makes it annoying. Most of VoIP callers require at least broadband connection, which makes it a second option.

  11. Dear Readers,

Whatever the rate is but it must be transparent and justifiable. If the rate is Rs. 120 per minute the NTC should give justification why not it is Rs. 119 or why not Rs. 121? Similarly, the another issue I want to put here is the quality of service. The customer should know the minimum quality standard the telecommunication should provide him/her. But, here we do not know the agreed standard of service between the telecommunication business house and government. Isn’t it a major factor from customer point of view?

  13. This writer, does not know what the hell he is writing, I think they know better, most of the visitors of this blog, use VOIP every day, it’s like this guy is writing against internet. Give me a break,, NTC is old and obsolete system like our Royal family,,
Any body remembers it how hard to get phone line before, now they have other phone company and we can get new line within days. We need to move on to 21st century technology where communication is cheap and better. Any way most of the Nepali journalist ask kick back from business people before they publish any article (hopefully this guys don’t to that). And when business denied giving them money they go after them like this. Just a curious…. about this story as well…

Please don’t forget that only Nepal govt own corp. makes lot’s of money is NTC, sucking poor Nepalese people.

Umesh bro do some thing, find a good solution for this, and remember VOIP is not illegal. This is just NTC makeup law, because they are greedy. And nepali all over the world can not say hello to there love one in Nepal with good rates.

  14. Technology must be used for the benefit of common people. VOIP is simply a technology. Call bypass is totally illegal. However, other applications like PC-TO-PC communication (which also use voip technology) should not be “labelled” illegal. Such technology can be deployed in rural areas easily as the most cost effective solutions.

Why is that Internet Service Providers are always blamed for illegal call bypass ? If telephone operators stop providing illegal phone lines, such activities can be stopped immediately.

  15. ISP admin, Nice answer for the writer .. ya you are 100 percent right ..let c wht will bring his Especiall report .. hope you will answer him again

    thanx

  16. Arya, you are right.. i make talks among my friends that the recent technology would enter nepal only after 5-6 years.. comon.. i mean, it should be entertained at the same time..but.. may be our country’s infrastructure doesn’t allow us to get the feel of latest Techno bliss, it’s still very late in here.. because, these corrupted officials think in quite conservative way. they don’t want change.. the change which could change the future.. you are right.. Nepal is still thinking about VOIP.. damn those telecom, they are still thinking.. they are restricting ISPs… it’s not a gud at all.. we don’t have much freedom in such area thought people say ” LOKTANTRA” .. is it freedom to burn tyres, destruct public properties, make loot, ?? why can’t we make freedom to establish solid root for our countrys.?? ..

if we talk about India, in many area, government has made Internet free for all.. it’s the case with Dial-up, so that they don’t have to pay double.. George Fernades, the minister in bangalore, during his ministership, he made it SiliconValley of India.. There ministers are not all free from scandals, they might be corrupted,.. but still they think of their country no matter what..Because, they’ve been ruled out by English and they know how much they love their country..
Our country, poor us, such ministers are in place, who really don’t love our country.. but their own pocket.
we really need smoe dynamic leadership who has vision to progress particularly in this sector
    .
then, our journalist frens won’t make big issue, on the way ,people are feeling easy to make calls their far-landed relatives.

    NT must need some change.

  18. Krishna Ji,

Your so called “exclusive” reports sucks, sorry to say that but SUCKS!! you’ve made yourself and parewa guys look really a bunch of idiots. If you ought to write an exclusive report about anything, you should know at least few details about it. I guess everyone, even a simple internet user knows that E1 is 30 lines and not 15, that show how much homework you’ve done on it. I guess you were really drunk and pissed off with some guy and went to to attack him and finally you made a mockery about yourself.

Good going Krishna Ji, hope now people will believe your exclusive report in the future.

    God Bless!!

  19. alla frens comments are really excellent..
this is not 12th century krishna n umesh bro.. it is 21century that is computer era.. but not traditional era….
now i m in china. here everyperson use VOIP n but unfurtunately the most expensive call in this world is Nepal… but in china it is free.. u just register in voip account and some of voip need account balance around 10$ snf u can talk freely unlimited whole in this world.. even to the USA.china,HK,UK,n so on..
the most benefit is it is free and unlimited call and u can talk as long as u want.. here i never call from any telecom.. but always call from VOIP..
if u all also wanna use i give u some voip adress which is free call to world
    http://www.sgoope.com
in this voip..how many times u call ur fren u can get more bonus.. so it is endless call..and updating ur account…..
    http://www.globe7.com
how long u watch the globe7 TV u can get more free minute….
    http://www.wengo.com
    http://www.voipcheap.com
    http://www.voipdiscount.com
but in Nepal call is really expensive.. and even ther is no any DSL type of networking. only depending upon dial up modem which is really hectic n frustating …..
so i want to give some suggestion to NTC n other nepal’s telecom..
that company should launch this type of VOIP service for nepalese citizen.. and the company also not get in loss .. rather it get more advancing n get profit thousands times than now…
VOIP service is the first leading service in this world in other country they always use VOIP for international calls……….. n in china , we can buy VOIP card freely in market everywhere …n from china to Nepal call cost only 0.6 yuan/min that is around 5rupees/ min..
but from Nepal to china it cost 120rupees/min. so now urself evaluate that how expensive in nepal is!!!!! so we must move according the time of technology.. this is scientific era….so we also move according that…….
ok if someone wanna use voip i gave some adress above.. u can talk free in this whole world… n unlimited……………………..

  20. I think It’s not bad to get free or cheap service if it is gifted by technology. I really support for the commenters who think that VOIP need to be legalized in Nepal too. Anyway thanks for Krishna Jee to write a blog for this major Issue. Let’s try to make one voice to get the right of using the technology.

By the way, I already have my own satellite system with VOIP service on it, But I am still paying like a 60 cents per minute to call my family in Nepal. Is there anyway to get more cheap phone service. I really appriciate if somebody know about this and give me some idea at [email protected]

    Thanks

  21. Krishna jee

nepal ma internet ko misused garera paisa kamaune ma swoyam NTC pani achuto chhaina tapai hamile ISTD phone garda 1445/1425 dial garchhu jun bhaneko internet ko use hune phone nai ho . yati matra farak chha ki NTC le nepal sarkar lai tax tirchha bhane anya company haru bata tax tirnu pardaina. 22. what if there is a car that runs 100 km on less than a liter of petrol… should we stop marketing the car or join to make other cars like that. the issue here is same with ntc and internet phone.
NTC dominated with its monopoly on international calls, its the fact that the 1445 number based international call service beiong provided by NTC is also the internet based phone, why cannot they lower the price on those calls. they are gulping huge profits on these calls.. innocent nepali and ntc strategy i would say.
you can call usa, canada, uk, australia for free. if you have a high speed internet connection why not use this…
noone can stop people from using the cheap services..

  23. Krishna Ji,
I appreciate for this critcal and needful issue.
I do favor for VOIP in Nepal. What ever effect goes to Government or any other organisation. As ISP Admin says, I 100% agree with him. Let me say after a couple of years there will be no distance call charges.
VOIP technology have already been a decade old and Nepal is still thinking about it. The only issue is they might loose the revenue. They never think on alternative valueadded service.
ALL VOIP PROVIDERS PLEASE GO AND DELIVER THE SERVICE.

Krishna Ji, please sensetise more in this topic.

    Thanks

  24. Legally, use of internet services for making/recieving calls (VOIP) is still not allowed in Nepal. For the users though, availability of such services are morally right, but you cannot say the same for the service providers. So, there’s a delimma wether we should say such services are good or bad.

It is not true that anyone with finances and expertise can start such business – there has to be strong political connections. So, instead of fighting for legal rights to open up VOIP services whereby a lot of money, time and effort would be needed, they opt for easier way out – use of connections to do business illegally.

I agree NTC has been robbing us on broad daylight. One of the reasons for ISD calls in and out of Nepal being more expensive than most other parts of the world is that NTC demands a share from incoming calls as well. Times have changed and so should NTC. Actually, I wouldn’t even mind if you ‘banned’ such services for certain period of time while they developed their own system – but aafu pani kehi nagarne, aru lai pani garna nadine attitude doesn’t work.

I hope the author would spend more energy on legalizing such services rather than advocating on behalf of NTC. Everyone wins in a legally controlled business environment. Oh, actually, without approval from NTA, NTC can’t do much. So who’s the real villian here – NTA or NTC? Besides, black money isn’t taxed – so who’s turning a blind eye towards such illegal business – NTC or NTA? Lastly, new licenses to operate telecom services have all gone either to the royal family or to their supporters – who’s responsible – NTA or NTC?

  25. HELL!!! with Nepal Telecom. they are nothing but a reap off to Nepalese people. Charging them so much for nothing. yeah, communication service should be cheap and reliable, unlike damn Nepal Telecom who is charging more than they should. they don’t have customer service to file or say to report problems. may be because they are the only one in the country. there should be more Tele communication companies in Nepal so that competition will bring price down and see some major improvements in the service and system.

again, forget Nepal Telecom, they should be punished. let the communication be free, either within Nepal or outside Nepal.

I applaude to those people who brings new technologies to a country like Nepal. Yeah, internet should be free to all. We, nepalese are paying way too much.

VoIP is where the world is moving toward, and Nepal should not be an exception. NTC sucks!

त्यो पनि अझ तपाईंको सुरु को comment ले तपाईंलाई समेत NTC को मोहो रैछ जस्तो लाग्यो, why the hell you guys go against technological gift?

  27. hehehehehe.

After reading this, my thoughts is that the writer has 0% idea on calls, voip, internet and how this whole system works. I guess this article is just a personal attack and vendetta againt binod who became successful in what he did. Why krishna ji? Because he did good and you got stuck being a writer in blog sites? Nepal ma khutta tanne haru ko kami chhaina vanne kura padhdai chhu.

call bypass vaneko ke ho ? voip ma ta bypass vanne kura chhaina.. voip ma 3 wota kura chha: origination, termination and transit. aba kasle ke gardera kati kamayo tyo tapai kasari vanna saknu hunchha ? The example you gave, infotalk is a call origination device .. it does the same thing as MSN voice chat, yahoo voice chat or skype .. aba kasaile le yahoo chat jastai system ma idea lagayera paisa kamayo vane ke vo ta ? tapai le kina launu vayena ? yestai ho vagya hoina ta ? kasai lai car chadna lekhya chha, kasai lai blog ma typist huna ra kura katna lekhya chha .. Why am I writing against the writer ? because he just mentioned one name who is selling infotalk .. He forgot to mention that there are over 500 similar sellers in the market that sell infotalk, mediaring, go2call, net2phone, infostart and god knows what other brands.

Krishna ji, tapai le sources haru ta daami nai paunu vayechha .. isp kholna 1 corore lagchha vanne .. ma pani ta yei field ma 15 years dekhi chhu.. khai ta maile 1 corore lagayera kholeko isp dekhina ta .. kun chha tyo ? kasti chai equipment hunchha isp ma eek eek corore lagne ha ?

Well, get your sources right .. To open an isp , you will need 3 lakh for license (2.5 for govt, 50,000 Rs for NTA people as bribe ) .. and around 5 lakhs for initial setup .. jamma jammi 10 lakh ma cable, dialup, wireless ISP ready hunchha ..

tapai ko bishesh report aaundai chha re .. mind garnush .. take information from people who are really in this field .. hawa var ma news ma kura garna painna ..

Aba point ma jaum .. Your title of the article should be “Call Termination” gari motaune haru .. And who is doing the calls termination ? — easy answer: NTC, Mero Mobile and UTL .. Ki nepal ma aru kunai telecom companies chha ? malai ta taha chhaina .. On your next report, you should maybe visit NTC, UTL and MeroMobile and get all the info on how this termination actually happens .. why UTL and MeroMobile do not STOP those numbers even after repeteative complaints ? They just issue new numbers. Call Termination garera motaune haru are all international players . 🙂 maybe you should dig deeper, afraid ? yo andolan, julush tira masu bhat ra 750-1000 Rs per day diyera julush ma amantrit gardai jindabad, murdabad vanna lagayeko jastai ho 3000 masik tabal hune haru 1000 dainik payo vane jandainan ta ? Similarly, NTC, Spice, UTL invites and is entertaining such, who don’t want to earn a bit ?

Aba why all ISP’s are doing VOIP ? …. I will tell you in a summary: NTA ta NTC ta daju ra vai hun .. dai NTA le pelchha ISP lai , world ma sabai thaum ma FREE vayeko 2ghz lai license linchha, isp license dindaina, e1 line lina NTA ra NTC milera ghush khanchan, jaile ni issue, VSAT, equipments lyauna ni jaile ni kich kich , raksi, ghush etc
so by doing VOIP (which is legal in over 50% of the world),all ISP’s have now a chance to retaliate against NTA and NTC and their ghushkhori ..

Writer ji, you showed a good math on NTC and its faida, nafa, ghata ..

If NTC charges 120 Rs per minute to calls to the USA that costs less than 2 Rs, why do you still want to take NTC side ? You are a blogger. Be responsible !! .. NTC le luti ra chha garib Nepali lai … tyo chai buznu pardaina ???

  28. My Friends,
I still feel sorry about our mentality. Internet telephony is a boon to us and its a matter of advancement of technology for the people to have a low cost communication system. We are still narrowly inclined towards the loss Nepal Telecome is encountering by this technology. Why do not we act “pro public”. The advent of internet telephone is good for public citizen who can do the same job by paying less amount. I would rather suggest Nepal Telecom and other telephone company to introdce internet based phone technology. By this, a simple internet connection can be used to make telephone call worldwide at the cost of local phones. I must share you an experience with you all here. By internet phone – if done legally – you can bring your phone anywhere in the world. For example, lets say I have a phone (based on internet – called VOIP – Voice Over Internet Protocol) and my phone number is: 4459256 then I can bring this telephone anywhere in the world and people from kathmandu can call me as if they are calling a local number but it would be a ISD call witht he same price. This will boost business as well. These days, international business organization are using this technology for their work. They put these kinds of phone with country specific numbers in dvelopin countries and do business from there. So friends, its time to act “pro-public”. Use of technology for living cheap. We should not mind if Nepal Telecome has to shut down or it should use competitive technology. I will feel sorry for the people who would go for NT against the consumer. Lets adopt a tradition of “consumer specific”. Let the business people respect consumer. Its our right to have the best service at hte lowest cost. My friends, if you like to know more of this, I am eager to put my comments on it.

    Thank you

Dear all analysing the progress of nepal development i can conclusively predict that Nepal will never be developed in the interest of nepalese people untill there is a social and cultural movement. There should be a peoples movement for everythign health, education, roads, communication and opportuntiy and the leaders of civil society should lead the ovement not these corrupt political leaders.

  30. Is there a cheap and convinient way to call Nepal from USA? (telephone to telephone or computer to telephone)

  31. umesh ji advocating ntc’s costly plan indicates there must be something fishy underground. otherwise, this advocacy doesn’t make anysense. have you forgotten the amount of late fine on your telephone bill that came after spa govt? remember, that is nepali telecom but not nepali janata…

  32. Nepalese will benefit more if the telecom costs are as low as possible from trade, commerce, exchange of ideas etc. Technology has advanced a lot in last few years and the Govt. has to update its tax and telecommunication policies to gain maximum benefits and tax collection.

If Govt. keeps on relying on old policies based on international calls, people will always find a way to use technology to evade them. Instead the Govt., should give licenses to VOIP, and internet phone and tax them. Then these techonolgies will not be illegal and instead bring tax money to the Govt. It will be win-win for all: More money for Govt, more revenue for the operators, and cheaper price for the consumers. The lower profit for NTC will be offset by tax on far greater volume of calls due to lower prices. Instead of complaining, NTC should also join the bandwagon and try to reduce the price.

  33. Why Inter Net in 200% expensive in our country. Because to be a ISP is very Expensive? but those bypassers have earned too much money we peopel have to go to the Cyber for last hopless connection and they are aall earning money but this is not using for education, and for general people. This is what happining here in Nepal? Why government don’t give priority to open more ISP And make it Cheaper so everyone can have free compitition we eacyally this is not the way NTC counting Profit that they have lost the GDP should be what they have givein to the public we need cheapest connection and easy calling system Not like this sky high price and Government looking for TAX and this tax money goes to the Corruption .Either any government change the system would be same here.- Which is hopeless and not working as the compitition of other developing country.
This country lost it’s value it the only looking for the Profits rather then the People’s need having free compitition- how they will chase the World Trade Trityto have compitition and what is their Vision vor the communication – is this enought to havng to many uncertain bills from Parlament which is itself beeing Autocratic.
we have to get equell rights what development country is having for the Internet and communication.

  34. I agree with Kalyanpa, and u gave very absolute example about digital camera.
if private compony is doing the loopback technique, then Nepal telecom is leading service provider for telecom, it might have some R&D, they should search for better techniqie which serves the people in low rate, high security, high data rate and more services like internet service in every district, easy phone connection for subscriber, easy bill payment facility.
They r doing nothing and crying and saying this & that.

  35. VOIP should be legalised. There is no other way. In India it’s was illegal but now it’s legal coz. it’s gift of technology and not easy to stop using it. It’s legal in most of all the developed countries. No matter NTC or any other company earn or lose, public should get benefit from Technology. Nepal Government or anyother authority can’t stop it. Better Government has to make law to leaglize it and collect revenue.

  36. Hello All,
I was going through the article but found some informations missing. The first of all, NTC( or Nepal TElecom) has been blocking VOIP calls. It wants to generate revenue by using direct ISD calls, which is obsolete. Many company( almost all) are using VoIP techniques around the world for communication, and we are reading about legalizing direct calls. We need to move(run) forward. I knew little about NTC blocking VoIP calls, from around 2001. Finally NT managed to make it illegeal but it is the present(future). Analogy can be made with ” some photo processing lab wants to ban digital camera, considering their loss in income”. What a pity!
By the way, one comment on original article, is it not true : E1 line is capable of 32 lines per slot, instead of 15 (is it a compressed tech. now !).

  37. Forcing to use the old and expensive technology of NTC is just like saying:

“You cant drink rain water. It is cheap, free and government can’t tax it. Therefore, you have to buy the water in bottle produced by government paying Rs 20 per bottle.”

    Umesh,
Why are you advocating the monopoly of NTC.
You were the one who spoke alot against the autocracy ok King. This is nothing different than that.

Your article was quite frustrating and caused a negative impression about you.

[For your information, I did not wrote this blog- Umesh]

  38. These criminals should be punished in criminal court, and their property frozen or confiscated. No wonder why my phone never goes throuth to Nepal.

  39. we nepalese are really poor, we can afford for cheap commodity. if we get cheap things, why can’t we buy it. is it necessary to pay hefty amount for the same product.

telecom is suffering because of governments policy in past decades. government totally ignored all the IT projects,futures..they didn’t have vision, still don’t have vision.. they just thought about their own. IT could be big resource if they know or try to put their lousy mind on it.

with some company, offering people at cheap cost to call their relatives across the sea, i don’t think it’s bad. i want government to bring policy that would make telecom to offer it’s service at the same price.. i think, then, such byproducts will be vanquished. They will be discouraged.

and Umesh bro, it’s really astonishing that you people are affiliating every event with RAJAwadi catalyst. i don’t think so.. there are private people involved too who has nothing to do with Royal family.

you think it’s loss to government, loss to nation.. well, that much sum is accumulated but i don’t see where it goes.. there has been no development, no progress. i think it goes to palace or to greedy ministers back account. if so, it’s better that we keep that part of money with our own pocket by paying only to the service. no more tax..

i don’t think we need to make it big issue.. let them provide their service to people.. after all, it’s we people who are getting best at cheap rate..

and please don’t take it in negative manner, please think deeply and you will realise, it’s worthless paying tax..

  40. Instead of whining about the technology and its weakness to control the bypass of the calls, government/NTC should be able to create a policy to handle this threat. It would be a great mistake regulate without proper vision and strategy to control it. NTC has been imposing its monopoly to nepali citizens which is completely unacceptable and should be criticized vehemently.

  41. Deshbhakta ji,

Your way of communicating with your loved ones works till there is a dire urgency…

    Just a dumb example ..
    (nothing personal here..)
What if one of your loved one got sick (in Nepal) and you need to inform to your loved one away from your home…

Duh…. … now what. You’ve got robbed on day light.

NTC should learn from the defaulters and provide better and competitive solution to its consumers.

Government should deregulate the NTC monopoly with private sectors who can provide competitive services to its consumers.

  42. No one can stop development of communication. Not even communist china. You know dude, it used to cost $2.00/min to call nepal from usa. Thanks to voip, now it cost 10cents/min. Nepal telecome needs to lower their fee so more people can call home and voip provider can loose there business. Unless Nepal telecome provide lower cost service no one can stop voip. hey dude do you know voip is 21st century technogy. you should think about nepali people live abroad, taking advantage of voip and calling home cheaper. Why just barking about negative point, let us start some thing positive as well.

  45. There are few things to feel sorry about, BUT, if we look back few years from today, Nepal Telecom had been sqeezing general people. How can people forget their monopoly in setting STD and local calls. They used to make millions and always show they were in loss and inturn victimize people for using their service. Now that there are ways people can save money, they start whining about it. Did they ever care when people were crying about their ever increasing-absurd-call rates?

They should find a way out themselves or people should keep using a cheaper way.
In USA, the telecommunication corps like Nepal Telecom in Nepal have relatively high rates too but there are 1000s of calling cards available everywhere which are really cheap.

I see no reason for Nepal Telecom to cry about this.

  46. Kapli
Why don’t you ask your relative call you from US. You don’t have to call from Nepal. I used to do the same

  47. I fully agree with Krishna dhungana in some points. There is no doubt that IT entrepreneurs(especially ISPs) are making big money from this including Mercantile and World Link. of course they are not exceptions. Their today’s status is the result of their same way of making money in the past.

As the technology is changing rapidly, the Nepal Telecom must also change its policy based on demand and supply and cannot be rigid in its pricing policy. It should be competitive.

The government authority and telecome staffs(some of them) of course are corroborated with private sectors without any doubts.

Unfortunately, everybody wants to be “overnight millionaire”. This is the problem.

    Suggestions:

Strong policy action is necessary – like monitoring and evaluation, from licensing to termination.

For black money, tax policy must be strong enough.

Nepal needs to introduce stern policy on ” Source of Money”, so that they can turn their black money into white.

If one can get services in cheap rate why one will choose crook path!

  49. Let’s start investigating this. I would love to call for cheap but my gain shouldn’t be my country’s loss. Effective measure should be taken asap to stop all these kind of illegal companies ASAP.

  50. why not nepal telecom use vsat as well? there should be a price competition for the benefit of consumer. provision should be vsat users for commercial purpose also pay tax would be a fair game.

  51. Did you visit NTC for this quiry ? I think it’s a one of the Nepalese company where without work “take Bonus” Nepali lai dasne Nepal Sarkar ko Niti le garda yesto chuhawat bhaeko ho
Nepal Sarkar ko himmet chha bhane :Free compitaion garauna parchha ; NTC lai Meromobile le nai Alikati Dekhai Sake ko chha

  52. It is sad that it negatively impacts the royalty but people will resort to illegal means when the legal way is too difficult to follow and beyond their reach economically. Services provided by Nepal TelCome were the best example of this kind. I have a very bitter experience with telcom and so does every one that has to live my situation I guess. I had to pay about 15% of my monthly salary for about a five minutes call to a relative living in the US. I was an Gztted officer serving the government then. My argument is when the illegals can make money out of any technology even while saling it at a much cheaper rate to public, that can well be tapped by legal institution if it wants to remain in the market and the minds of public. Nepal Telcom in my experience has of course developed the network and provided people with its services but it never has been easier to use its services. It has always come heavy on users’ pockets.
By this statement I never mean that everyone has to take up illegal means but you can never clap with a single hand… to prevent illegals, legals must be made affordable to every user… then the public will support the legals otherwise the tough fact is life almost always comes before patriotism… specially in a country like Nepal

  55. Agreed that there should not be any misuse.

    BUT,
This doesn’t mean that people should pay more to the Telecom just to follow the so called legality. When there are other cheaper technologies, why Telecom doesn’t install it and provide the cheaper technology to its comsumers??

If Telecom starts offering the cheaper and better technology, then comsumers will surely use it as a result it will generate huge revenues.

Time is changing and so should Telecom change, or else, it will go bankrupt. Should learn more from AOL. People won’t pay more when things are available
    cheaper.

    COME ON…..TIME TO CHANGE TELECOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

  56. Let there be a free communication for everyone. Free communication means more communication between Nepal and the world (not just some Nepalese calling home), more communication means more direct business (one can contact their buyer overseas so cheap, they don’t have to worry about communication costs).

So why does the government not encourage this attitude so that everyone can benefit.
