साहसीहरुका लागि चुनौति हो सउल। दुस्साहसीहरुका लागि एक्सपेरिमेन्टको थलो हो सउल। बाहिरबाट हेर्दा भौतिक विकासका आवरण जतिसुकै देखिए पनि ४० वर्षअगाडिको गरिबी र अभाव अझै भुल्न नसकेका मान्छेहरुको पीडा हो सउल। चार दिनको छोटो समयका लागि आएको भए पनि विभिन्न पक्षबाट सउललाई बुझ्ने चाहनामा मन नपर्दानपर्दै बस्न बाध्य भएको ठाउँ थियो सउल। तर आज नेपाल फर्कँदै गर्दा एअरपोर्ट लिमोजिन बसको झ्यालबाट बाहिर खम्बामा ‘गुड बाई सउल’ लेखिएको देख्दा एकाएक भावुक बन्न पुगेको ठाउँ पनि हो सउल। यत्रो दिन बसियो, विश्वविद्यालयका विद्यार्थीहरु, कामदारहरु, भिसाको म्याद सकिसकेका कामदारहरु, नेपाली संस्थाका पदाधिकारीहरु अनि उही कन्फ्रेन्समा भेटिएका कोरियाली मित्रहरु–धेरै दृष्टिकोणबाट हेरियो र बुझियो सउललाई। तर पनि अझै धेरै कुरा बुझ्न बाँकी नै रह्यो सउल।
सउलको छेउमा रहेका पुराना घरहरु। चाँडै नै यी सबलाई भत्काएर नयाँ फेसन सिटी बनाउने तयारी भइरहेको छ। अनि यसको विरोध पनि भइरहेको छ।
साँच्चै कति अचम्म छ सउल। दुई पाइला बाहिर भव्य फराकिलो सडक छ अनि त्यसैको छेउमा साँघुरो गल्ली। सम्पन्नताको प्रतिक गगनचुम्बी भवनहरु छन् बाहिर तर भित्र सबवेमा घरबारविहीन व्यक्तिहरु त्यत्तिकै चीसो सडकमा सुतिरहेका छन्।
अधिकांश नेपालीले सोच्ने जस्तो पैसा फल्ने ठाउँ हैन सउल। मेहनत, मेहनत र कडा मेहनतले पैसा आफ्नो बनाउनु पर्ने थलो हो सउल। अनुशासित छ सउल। इमान्दार छ सउल। कसैले कसैको वास्ता गर्दैन सउल। तर कसैलाई परिआयो भने सहयोगी हात बढाउन तत्पर छ सउल।
नेपालीहरुको भेटघाटमा कसलाई समात्यो कसलाई समातेन आदि कुरा नै बढी हुन्छ।
नेपालीहरुको परिप्रेक्ष्यमा (मैले भेटेर कुरा गरेका आधारमा) हेर्ने हो भने कसैका लागि घरजग्गा धितो राखेर दलाललाई पैसा खुवाई धन कमाउने सुनौलो सपना चकनाचुर भएको थलो हो सउल। कम्पनीमा काम गर्ने क्रममा अंगभंग भएर बाँच्नु र मर्नुको पीडा दिने थलो हो सउल। धन कमाउने आशामा उच्च निजामति पदलाई बलिदान गरेर दिनरात एकोहोरो लेबर कामलाई कडा मेहनतका साथ गर्नुपरेको ठाउँ हो सउल। हप्ताभरीको परिश्रमपछि सप्ताहान्तमा रक्सी, चुरोट र जुवाको सहारा लिनुपर्ने ठाउँ हो सउल। मिडियाले लेख्दैमा हाम्रो पीडा कम हुन्छ र, सरकारलाई राम्रो नीति बनाउन भन्नुस् भन्दै आक्रोशित हुनेहरुको जमात रहेको ठाउँ हो सउल। कुनै पनि बेला धरपकड हुनसक्ने भयले भिसाको म्याद गुज्रिएका कामदारहरु जतिबेला पनि त्रसित रहनुपर्ने ठाउँ हो सउल।
६ हजारको संख्यामा रहेका नेपालीहरुबीच पनि जाति, धर्म, क्षेत्र, जिल्ला, अञ्चल आदि गरी ४०-५० वटा संस्थामा विभाजित रहेको ठाउँ हो सउल। तर बिरामी पर्दा होस् कि आपतविपत् पर्दा, परिआएको बेला एकअर्कालाई सहयोगका साथ एकतावद्ध हुने ठाउँ पनि हो सउल।
नेपालमा हुँदा १२ घण्टा निद्राले पनि नपुग्नेहरु ४ घण्टाको निद्रा पुर्याएर काममा व्यस्त हुनेहरुको थलो हो सउल। अझै केही बढी कमाउँ न भनी नेपाल फर्कने दिन झन् झन् पछि सार्ने लोभ जन्माउने ठाउँ हो सउल।

कोरियाली प्रोफेसरहरुको पेलानमा युनिभर्सिटीका विद्यार्थीहरु सँधै ल्याबमा व्यस्त रहने ठाउँ हो सउल। भविष्यमा केही गरी नेपाल मै फर्कने अठोट बोकेका विद्यार्थीहरुको वर्तमान हो सउल। अहिले नै फर्किएर हाम्रो सीप र दक्षताको मूल्याङ्कन हुन्न भन्ने निराशा जन्माउने ठाउँ पनि हो सउल।
कोरियाली परिप्रेक्ष्यमा हेर्दा सँधै हतारमा पाली पाली भन्दै दौडिरहने र तनावका कारण राति भयो कि मदिराले मातिएर दुःखपीडा भुलाउन चाहने सहर हो सउल। आफूभन्दा ठूलालाई एकदमै सम्मान गर्ने र उनीहरुसित मतभिन्नता भए पनि विवाद नगर्ने ठाउँ हो सउल। अमेरिका र अमेरिकी शैलिप्रति एकदमै मोह छ सउलमा।
सउल यो हो, सउल त्यो हो। सउल यो हैन सउल त्यो हैन। सउल के हो, के हैन, अझै धेरै बुझ्न बाँकी नै छ। साँच्चै सउल, अचम्म छ तिमीभित्रको विभिन्नता।

कसैले सीअफ गर्न नआए पनि झ्यालबाट देखिएका लहरै बलेका निर्जीव बत्तीहरुले मलाई विदाइका हात हल्लाइरहेको जस्तो लागेको छ। आज म सउलबाट तिम्रो साहस, तिम्रो इमान्दारिता तिम्रो अनुशासन र सबैभन्दा महत्त्वपूर्ण तिम्रो कडा मेहनतको गतिलो पाठ सिकेर नेपाल फर्कँदैछु। यी सब नभएको भए कसरी चालीस वर्ष अगाडि हाम्रै दाँजोमा रहेको तिमीहरु यसरी एक्कासी अगाडि बढ्न सक्थ्यो र। देश बदल्ने हैसियत ममा छैन। तर व्यक्तिका रुपमा म तिम्रो यो पाठलाई सदा ध्यानमा राख्नेछु र पालना गर्नेछु। यही पाठ लिएर म आज आफ्नो प्यारो देश फर्कँदैछु। गुड बाई सउल !

you are right ,i am currently studying in china and i am so shocked to see devlopment of china ,here some nepali student were like so ….so……and they were trying to impress chinese like we nepali were always like that but ,i thanks god chinese always respect us ,.they know situation of our country ,inspite of this they respect us a lot,guess if we were in europe and america then………….
chinese were all hard worker ,i see at night on 3 0 clock they were cleaning the road ,in my three year stay in china i didnt see any strike in this city.theere is no any traffic jam .
and at end ,when they became tired in midnight then they go to small bhatti (resturant)and buy beer (20 nepali rupee a bottle )and enjoy ,no discrimination many even come with cars pajero,park near by bhatti and drink bottle of nepali 20 rupee bottle .

I would like to comment on comments.
At the first, I would like to comment on Purbeli that your calculation is totally wrong. It is agreeable that China is rising peacefully in ASEAN, and as India in South Asia. However, China with huge population does have vast disparity between people in terms of wealth and place in terms of development. China is still a closed country and Chinese goods are available as not being qualitative rather the cheapest things without quality every where in the world.
It is humorous to compare China with the USA. Do you know USA’s economic prosperity and military power weight even more when we add all the wealth and military power of all Asian countries including China, Japan and South Korea? China is China, a closed communist country and it is still developing. It can ever never meet to Japan and even South Korea as well in terms of economic prosperity. The comparison with the USA is too remote.
Furthermore, I would like to go for ZZ. Korea is almost same country before 30 years ago. The social and political system in Korea is fairly similar to Nepal few decades ago as well. People still (at present) have mistrust on political leaders. Past few presidents were as corrupted as Nepalese political leaders or they are even more corrupted than ours. Students demonstrated on street and they shot dead as well. It is not an exception. The moment its economy rose up under the dictatorship of President Chung, drastically social and political condition changed. .However, the Korean development is unique and we cannot compare with Nepal’s situation. It is because South Korea is supported and backed up by America. The USA never wants Chinese intervene in South Korea as North was backed up by USSR and China. To stop communist intervention, the USA supported South Korea and simultaneously it forced South Koreans to liberalize their market and to open their policy. Our situation is quite different. Geo physically, Nepal lies in the middle of the poorest and lawless part of India and also the poorest part of China, Tibet. And it is also noticeable that our lack of policy for pursuing effective policy for coping with two big Asian rising superpowers, China and India.
I have realized that you learn more from traveling, meeting new people, and getting new experiences than studying books in classrooms. Umesh, your travel blog was great. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope you get to travel again within Nepal and outside Nepal (even if it’s India) and write about your experiences.
you have exposed out the reality of soeol(may be spelling wrong).As per your description of soeol of south korea and my experience of melbourne city of Australia, most of the things are same.Anyway entire new and creative vison with much more strive is required for the development of each and every contry in the world. The culture is a must for the developement.As you see , for instance, “time”.(neither soon nor late or neither earlier not later)
punctuality is a must.Westerners have defined our (asian culture) as a denail culture as majority of the people think in a negative way in every sphere of life.i could see the huge difference of australian way of thinking and nepalalese way of thinking that directly or indirectly affect in the development of society or the country.

one thing what u can do instantly is to start some social work of your interest after going back to nepal of any kind which should directly or indirectly help our country
and to support your act nepalese like me whose heart and mind is always in nepal but could do much because of the fact that we can’t come back nepal easily and aslo it’s not so practical not only for ourselves but also may be not so usefull even for our nation since we already have so much population there.

अब त्यहाँ देखेका, सुनेका अनुभव गरेका कुराहरुलाइ नेपालमा रहेको ब्यबस्था र नेपालीका आचरणसित दाँजेर ब्लग लेख्नु होला । घरबाट पढ्न भनेर स्कुल-कलेज जाने तर बाटोमा टायर बाल्ने देशका लागि चिन्तित जुझारु यूवा कर्मठ देशभक्त क्रान्तिकारी बिद्यार्थिले देशको भविष्य कति सुन्दर बनाउदा होलान । कोठामा बसेर षडयन्त्र गर्ने, समकक्षीको खुट्टा तान्ने खेलमै जिन्दगी बिताउने नेताहरुको देशभक्तिपूर्ण, लोकतान्त्रिक, अग्रगामि छलाङ लगाउने, प्रतिक्रियाबादिहरुलाइ परास्त गर्ने, सुशासन कायम गर्ने, भाषणहरुले देशलाइ कहिले स्वीजरलैण्ड बनाउँदा होलान । हल्लिदै १० बजेतिर घरबाट निस्कने, अफिसमा काम भन्दा गफ बढी गर्ने तर सँधै तलब नपुगेको, सुबिधा नपुगेको, प्रमोशन नपाएको, गुनासो मात्रै गर्ने, सन्तुष्ट कहिल्यै नहुने तर जागिर पनि कहिल्यै नछोड्ने राष्ट्रका सेवक कर्मचारीहरुको योगदानबाट देशमा कहिले सुशासन आउँदा होलान । नेताको पछि लाग्नु र नेताले दिनभरीमा क-कसलाइ भेट्यो, क-कसलाइ के के भन्यो भन्ने कुराको मात्रै रिपोर्टिङ गर्दै जनतालाइ सुसुचित गर्ने चनाखा पत्रकारहरुले कहिले जनतालाइ उँभो लगाउने समाचार र सुचना बाँड्ने होलान । बिषय धेरै छ यसरी टोक्नु पर्ने ।
