In my view new prime minister and his ministers need not go to take an oath with king. They go to take oath with Chief Justice of Supreme Court.The language of the Oath also must be changed.

Taking oath is not an issue. If you abide by rules and ,you have to accept them and do accordingly. Mere show and slogans don’t produce any concrete results but you have to maintain 100% honesty and things can be solved only on that palne.So the swearing in ceremony will be in the palace as it used to be.But tomorrows actions of the government should respect the commitment they have made previously.
But I have my serious doubts on the maoists themselves. It is because they rely on weapons and violence all the time and wish to justify their opinions with the power they wield in the shadow of gun and vilolence. Can they prove that the election to the constituent assembly alone will solve all the economic,social and the like problems Nepal is facing over the centuries ? Will they be able to justify the death of more than 15,000 people and the destruction of all the National wealth and infracture during the last 12 years through the election of constituent assembly? Will they be ready to accept a battle of equal strength with the other political parties renouncing the weapons they are carrying? Why did not they allow people to have otherwise opinions in their dominant areas and exterminated them?
And will the Maoists ever allow the oppositions during their rule to protest or a wage a war against the state like the one they are doing now when people get disillusioned with their actions?
Honesty from all sides is the need of the present. Please don’t rely on anymore shows and farces to ridicule the ill fated population of this impoverished nation. Down with the show and long live the Nepali statehood and its dignified people!!!

This is really good idea, and now may be we can talk about king’s place in Nepal. Which was one of the biggest issues? Because most of the Nepali are thinking about what he will be now? I am quite sure we will have good future we thought king, that money we can put for the develop Nepal. There is money is going for him and his family and even for his dog and he doesn’t need to pay even the tax with his business and hope everyone like to how reach he is? And how much money he has in Nepal and outside Nepal and how much he get when he kill the king Birendra….. And what exactly happen when parash kill the three people and all his criminality.
The oath should be taken place in the Khulla Munch, and for sure not with king. But with their family who give their life for this day.

I think we have to respect the constitution for instance. As this parliament is reinstated according to the constitution of 1990, it would be better to recognize the king as a part of constitution. It is not the right time to mess up with these type of issues.We have to build a new nepal, so we should focus on the election of the constituent assembly.
Rather,It won’t be bad if the cabinet will take the oath in the parliament addressing the whole nation,in presence of king.

I am very happy that you put this point “Political leaders should take oath of their office in fron of people or in front of peoples head of state”.
I also would urge those unsatisfied fractions and some of our friends commenting in this blog who are unsatisfied at the “parlament restatement” political settelment, to think.. In my view this settelment saved our Nepal which is heading toward Anarchary. Political party fighting for democracy, maoist fiting for comunist republic and Gynendra is fighting for absolute monarchary.
Its true that we all don’t want to see king any more. New ministers will also be corrupts from the past history. Its your and our collective responsibility to teach people what you believe in. So that during the election of constutional assembly we get what all nepalies want in a very peaceful manner.

King is corrupt, every one knows it. If you take oath from corrupt , how can we believe that you will not do corruption.Oath should be taken from some body who is clean and chance of remain clean is very high but not from one who is already corrupt.

Thus, the leaders must acknowledge the fact that at the right moment, nepali people are the souveneir in authority and power.hence leaders must be accountable to the people and take the oath in front of mass people in the ratnapark.

Umesh jee, You have brought very important issue.it’s very good idea——-very very good idea—-they must respect the the feeling of the people—–the mandate of the people’s movement II————-before the leaders become comfused by royal beaurocratic networks/high officials/secretaries/Ambassodors etc. in the name of ordinances,diplomatic norms, official rules and regulations so on so forth in their daily official works. They must take oath of chair infront of the people who suffer more than 300 years as slaves in own coutry. Otherwise they will knowingly or unknowingly repeat the same course of corruption under the diplomatic guidance of the high level beaurocratic network in the name of team work and good coordination.
you take it for sure—-they will repeat the same course of rampant corruption again if people dont watch closely and if you let them work on their own.

I think the oath taking ceremony should be taken at parliament house in presence of king and should be televised live officially from television and radio. I think this will initiate the good system of believing power of people because house of representatives are the representatives of people/true people. While taking oath people or representatives of people should be adressed neither king nor the speaker. Its better than taking oath at tundikhel which will be the start of the new history.

The oath should be taken publicly infront of a TV wherever it is. It should be self-taken oath (skoken aloud infront of a TV camera) in the name of Martyrs, in the name of nation. New oath must contain words that he (they) will treat every citizen equally, it should not state “loyaltee to King, crown and dead (1990) constititution”. Forget Mandale’s comment: “No oath from a criminal king”. If it is to take oath from the King why distroy his mahan badi signboards?

I am thinking about middle ground.
1. Let’s declare cabinets and introduce it on khula manch (Let’s stop calling it ratna park. I am tired of saying royal’s name)
2. The cabinets then go to palace and do whatever needs to do and starts working. If we say, the 1990 constitution is still valid, then we need to follow it too.
3. We need to make parliaments’ discussion open as they do it in USA on CSPAN. By doing that, MPs cannot say one thing in public and just opposite on parliament. I think this is one of the right to know their representative’s activities.

Umesh, you have done an extraordinary job and that’s highly appreciated. Talking about developing the site into some sort of forum, first you need to make sure where do you stand. Until now you have run as this a private blog and you could give rat’s ass what other people would think of what you say. I know you personally and I know you are not the one who takes sides but you need to be able to take the criticism being in a profession you are. Talking about the oath, considering we are still following the old constitution it is not possible to hold the ceremony in Tundikhel. It won’t be valid. Raja G should be present when the ceremony takes place. Yes ofcourse if you can drag Raja G to Khulla Manch then only it is possible.

what I think and suggest as said one of the commentor in this forum whether you take oath in bathroom or toilet or tundikhel it does not make any difference if ministers can’t do better for the nation. We need to change the way we deal with the things. Follow the laws and be disciple then everything will come in a way we wanted to have.

I think as long as Gynendra is the King, respect should be given to the Kingship, well may not be to the person Gynendra that he is. Well taking oath at Tundikhel isn’t a bad idea. But it isn’t important whether they take oath in their bathrooms or Tundikhel or Durbar, the important thing is goverments seriousness towards the critical issues. So we people have the greatest responsibility now, to remind the corrupt leaders of the mandate the Aandolaan has given time and again.
Something should be done to those too corrupted leaders like Gobinda, Chrinjibi, Khum Bahadur. It should be the start.

I think if the SPA leader really think that the parliament was reinsttated from the people’s movement then they should not have to take oath of ministershp from the Gyanendra.
I think people’s and people movement’s mandate is ‘full democracy'(LOKTANTRA), so there is no place of king for any executive role.
