साला, काठमान्डू !

कुम जोड्न खोज्छ
कहिले वासिङ्टन डीसीसँग

कहिले लण्डनको जुठेल्नो हेरेर घोरिन्छ
भर्खरै बाउ मरेको छोरोजस्तो !
र, कठालोमा समात्न खोजेर
नमस्कार गर्छ
त्यसका ठूलाबाउहरुलाई

थुक्छ, आफ्नै हातमा
र हात मिलाउन खोज्छ
पत्रु भइसकेको एउटा शत्रुसँग
फेरि,
कालापानीको बगरमा उभिएर
सलाम गर्छ -उसैलाई

अपुताली वा काक्ताली
कुनै खुशी छैन आँखामा
प्रजातन्त्रको काँचो मासु डकारेर
अझै झम्टिन खोज्छ
आवाज र अक्षरहरुमाथि
शिकार नपुगेको बाघजस्तो
साला, काठमान्डू !

टिलो टिपिरहेको जोगीजस्तै
समयको भिख माग्छ
लाज र डर गुमेपछि
के के गर्न सक्छ मान्छेले –
भर्खरै लाश लगेको दोबाटोबाट
बुर्की टिपेर
अक्षता हेरिरहेछ आफ्नै भाग्यको
साला, काठमान्डू !

आफूलाई ‘न्यूयोर्कको ब्वाइफ्रेण्ड’ सोच्छ
वा,
नयाँ दिल्लीको जार
स्वयमलाई सिङ्गो देश मान्छ
र, सब ‘वेसै छ ठान्छ’
आफूलाई हेरेर

मलाई त एकदमै डर लागिरहेछ
हिजो खोला बेचेर खाएको छ
माटो बेचेर खाएको छ
इज्जत र स्वाभिमानको के कुरा
भोलि झण्डा बेचेर खाला
के भर
काखमा राखेर छुरा धस्न सक्छ
साला, काठमान्डू !

आऊ,
ए गाउँलेहरु
छिन्यो भने पनि
हातमा चट्टी बोकेर आऊ
खाँदैछौ भने पनि
जुठै हात बोकेर आऊ
काठमान्डूले झण्डा बेच्न सक्छ
काठमान्डूले देश बेच्न सक्छ
के भर
साला काठमान्डूको !

  1. कविताको मर्म हेर्दा दोहोरायर पढ्न मन लाग्दो छ । घटिया शब्दले एउटा क्षेत्रलाई मात्र तोक्नु कबिताको एउटा अँस आँफैमा घटियापन हो। नत्र भने कबि जी लाई साला भन्न नपर्ला ।

  2. Please stop scolding Kathmandu. It’s Amaravati Kantipuri Nagari of Poet Bhanu Bhakta Aacharya. It’s become dumping site of negative thinker like negative politician, planner. By the way Mr.Baniya don’t you have a typical Nepali word like BHATTE OR MULA before using cheap Hindi word SALA. Same on you

    In the conflagratinon of needs and dismay,
    The street is rising up.
    With the drowsiness of the smoke,
    Bagmati is watching the violence and the sins.
    Dharjara has an ability to see at a distance, but,
    The vultures are sitting on the top of its pinnacle.
    The foxes are dwelling inside the Pashupatinath, and
    The dream from the noble spirit looks at the moon that is moaning.
    Effable buildings hover in the inner eyes, because,
    The fictitious hooks are far and wide.
    In the course of livelihood,
    The strayed thoughts and the vanished culture are everywhere.
    The twisted hooks are having fun.
    Grimy and aged pinnacles are flattering.
    In the contest of upgrading,
    The god is running of from the truth and love,
    The daylight of the winter-sun is diffused by the fog.
    The god may do anything, here, because,
    There are more gods than inhabitants.

  15. Fantastic work! Though I am not good at poetic writing but Your peom reflects the intensity of your sentiment and frustration. Though some of us from Kathmandu valley are hurt but I think we have to take his message through poem in another level. Your message to the people, to come out from their regular duty and start a mass movement to save our country.

    Definitely, what every is happening inside the valley is effecting the whole nation. It is atleast, to some extend true that kathmanduits are also responsible for what we are now.

  17. Oh man where are you staying; kathmandu is getting worst because of people like you who always want to come to kathmandu. Get lost from kathmandu then kathmandu will be better after all you people go to your own place. So before writing stupid poem just look at yourself and think what you did for your place and why you are staying in kathmandu.

  35. I hate this kind of poetry which tries to blame everyone in this world except the author himself. The author is trying to portray here that all the evil things are due to Kathmandu or Kathmanduites, but on his way he forgets that, he is contributing to this in one way or other. What is the fault of Kathmandu if the planners (mostly from outside kathmandu) focus all the development works in the capital and forget about their villages where they came from once they see the glittering city? What is the fault of Kathmandu if it is being overcrowded by the inflush of people from all over the country? Yes, I agree that we have everything centralized in Kathmandu, but I do not see any point in treating Kathmandu as a alien place. Come on it does not matter if you come from Rukkum or Dharan, Kathmandu is also part of our country and everyone has to treat it with respect accepting as their own.
