अब तपाईँको पालोः पाँच विकल्पमा कुन ठीक ?

अहिले इमेलहरुमा एउटा गजबको होड चलेको छ मानिसहरुबीच। केही ‘गौतम’ हरु इमेल गर्दै राष्ट्रपति कुलचन्द्र गौतमलाई बनाउनुपर्छ भन्दै मास मेल गरिरहेका छन् भने कोही चाहिँ हस्तलिखित लेख भएभरका सञ्चारसंस्था र अनलाइनमा पठाउँदै बेलायतमा रहेका आफ्नै प्रोफेसर सूर्य सुवेदीलाई राष्ट्रपति बनाउनु पर्छ भनिरहेका छन्। यता, केही नेवारहरु चाहिँ इमेलमा ‘म पद्यरत्‍न तुलाधरको नाम प्रस्ताव गर्छु’ भन्ने अनि त्यसको जवाफमा ‘म समर्थन गर्छु’ भन्दै इमेल गरिरहेका छन्। देशबाहिर रहे पनि देशको उच्च पदका विषयमा उनीहरुको चासोको सम्मान गरिनुपर्छ। भलै त्यो आत्मरतिमा नै सीमित किन नहोस्। किनभने राष्ट्रपति चुन्ने काम उनीहरुको क्याम्पेनले गर्ने नभई तीन ठूला दलको आपसी कुरा मिलेपछि हुने गर्छ। तपाईँ-हामीले भनेर हुने भए त यो देशमा धेरै कुरा भइसक्थ्यो।

पछिल्लो पटक एमाले र माअ‍ोवादीबीच राष्ट्रपति र प्रधानमन्त्री पदका लागि गठबन्धन हुने संकेत देखा परेको छ। केही दिनदेखि यी दलका बीच भइरहेको गोप्य वार्ताले संभावित पाँच विकल्पभित्रैबाट राष्ट्रपति चुन्ने सहमति गरेको बताइएको छ। तपाईँको विचारमा यी पाँच विकल्प मध्ये कुन ठीक हो।

विकल्पहरु

१) रामराजाप्रसाद सिंह
नेपालका प्रथम गणतन्त्रवादी नेता, समावेशीको नाराका लागि मधेसी

२) सहाना प्रधान
४६ सालको आन्दोलन गर्ने संयुक्त वाममोर्चाकी नेतृ, समावेशीको नाराका लागि महिला

३) नरबहादुर कर्माचार्य
नेपाल कम्युनिस्ट पार्टीका एकमात्र जीवित संस्थापक नेता

४) पद्मरत्‍न तुलाधर
नागरिक आन्दोलनका अगुवा, समावेशी नाराका लागि जनजाति नेता

५) दमननाथ ढुंगाना
नागरिक आन्दोलनका अगुवा

रामराजालाई माअ‍ोवादीले प्रस्ताव गर्ने र मधेसी दलहरुले समर्थन गर्ने निश्चित छ। सहाना प्रधान एमाले उम्मेदवार हुन्। एमाले माअ‍ोवादीबीच सत्ता साझेदारीका लागि समेत गठबन्धन भएमा उनलाई माअ‍ोवादीले समर्थन गर्न सक्छ। रामराजाले समेत महिलालाई राष्ट्रपति बनाए हुन्छ भनिसकेका छन्। कर्माचार्य वामपन्थी वरिष्ठ नेता हुन्। वामपन्थीहरुबीच स्वतन्त्र वामपन्थी उम्मेदवारका लागि सहमति भएमा उनको पक्ष बलियो हुन सक्छ। तुलाधर र ढुंगाना नागरिक आन्दोलनबाट तानिएका नाम हुन्। तुलाधर जनजाति नेता समेत हुन् भने ढुंगाना काँग्रेस पृष्ठभूमिबाट राजनीतिमा आएका हुन्।

त्यसो त राष्ट्रपति हुने इच्छा गरिरहेका गिरिजाप्रसाद कोइरालालाई उनीहरुले कसरी पन्छाउन सक्दा रहेछन्, त्यो हेर्न भने बाँकी छ। गिरिजाको हातबाट शक्ति खोस्न गार्‍हो भएकोले उनीहरुले आफ्नो पाँच विकल्पमा नाम नराखेका भए पनि उनको नाम पनि सूचिमा सामेल नै रहेको मानौँ। यद्यपि उनीहरुले र फोरमले समेत गिरिजालाई कुनै पनि हालतमा राष्ट्रपति बन्न नदिने बताइरहेका छन्। तर कोइराला कै शब्दमा “पोलटिक्समा भन्ने र गर्ने कुरा फरक हुन्छन्”

  8. Girija is the best and only candidate for the post of first president of Nepal.
    Because:

    None could abolish monarchy without Girija.
    None could bring Maoists to the peace process and give up arms politics except Girija.
    Girija is the only person, who has struggled and sacrifiiced his life for democracy- so he is the only suitable candidate.
    Girija does what he says- others say onething do just opposite.
    Others are dwarfs in front of the towering figure of Girija. Not only in physical height but also in political height.
    We need strong president otherwise, Gyanendra can raise his head like during the time of Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML’s half corrected regressive rule.
    Who trusts Tuladhar? Dhungana? Sahana?Kulchandra?Ramraja?
    If Maoists want real democracy then they should accept Koirala. Give up opportunist politics Maoist friends otherwise, your fall is very short.
    U r doing the politics of opportunity, remember without Girija you would be in the jungle as a terrorists.
    Why did you forget that so quickly?

    I read your comments and agreed with you. I am in favour of supporting Ramraja as president.
    I neither support to Padmaratna, damannth who ran away of their responsibilities when democracy was not in good condition.

    We need a couragious man like Girija who although is old but he is only the suitable as per the situation.

    The only way to get int;l support for federal democratic nepal is to appoint GPK as president. If someone is appointed, prachanda will regret and maoists will be in the history only.

  16. Until and unless Girija is alive no one has chance I bet you guys. Forget about the lists, Girija will only die when he become president of Nepal. Yamraj will not invite him until he becomes president of Nepal. Thats why yamraj has been waiting for him to drag into the boiling oil in yamlok.

    Girija you will never give us peace. I believe if you did not get president post, then you will turn into ghost and continue giving suffer to Nepal people.

  19. Bachelors or Masters Degree should be among one of the criterias to become a candidate for the President… don’t you think so? How can one represent the country and its people without having a solid education background? We should also set a minimum education requirement for politicians who want to become a member of the parliament rather than some of those who are in the politics because they have no other options in life due to the lack of education.

    If someone deserves to become president of nepal that is – Jhakku Prasad Subedi- ho that is because he is popular than all communists in Nepal, MAKUNE laai football hani gol garne tyo matra euta suro manchhe ho jasle kehi garna sakchha.

    If Ram Raja is made President, it will hurt all nepalese because he really does not have any contribution in nepal.

    The decade long fight was not and is not for the Republic, Republic is incidental result. people voted for maoist is not because of the king or Congress , it is because they want change in the country impacting upon their life which is hope in people , like a dream that will never be fulfilled.

  38. It’s a really bad idea to propose somebody residing and working outside Nepal for decades as a prospective candidate for the post of President. If somebody would want to have an academician or an administrator as the President, then I don’t see any reason why s/he has to look for someone in Leeds or New York. There are a large number of such persons working in the country itself. The first President should be a Nepali living and working in Nepal.

    It would not be a good idea to choose somebody without a marked involvement in political/social organizations and without any commentable achievement in life.

    I really don’t know what Ram Raja’s contributions to our society are, apart from the fact that he bombed some buildings in the capital when the congress party had started civil movement against the Panchayat regime. Ram Raja was a no-man in the 1st and 2nd mass movements and once the contry has become a republic, people seem to be popularizing his name with some unjustified claims of great contribution to the Republican setup of the country. In my opinion, there might be better candidates from the Terai if we want to look for that kind of inclusion.

    Sahana could be a good candidate, but how is her health? If we’re not letting Girija on grounds of his old age, can Sahana be a better candidate? We should not want a wrangling for President again before two years.

    The maoist idea of parallel power centers in case of a better known President is a real nonsense. The post of the first president of the country deserves to be filled by a well-known and respected figure. It might be difficult to find one aggreable to everyone, but lets hope that the main parties will settle for a suitable candidate who can be proudly regarded as our first President.

    Of course there are lots of “New” Kings of Nepal at the present situation But Girija definitely wants to be the chief amongst them and in the present scenario I don’t believe anyone can stop him from achieving his desires of hanging on to the power and going down in history pages as the first President of Republic Nepal. He IS the so called “THE” NEW king of Nepal right now and I don’t see how it is possible to make his resign until he gets what he wants.   97. I was surprised to see a rather derogatory remarks in this introductory article about my article. I did not send my hand-written article about Prof Subedi to many bloggers or media houses. I sent it only to a handful of people including Umesh jee. There is another wrong assumption in this article. Professor Subedi is not my professor. He teaches at the University of Leeds and I am doing my PhD in London. Leeds and London are 300 kilometres apart. Professor Subedi teaches law but I am not doing my PhD research in law. I am not a lawyer. All I wanted to do was to encourage a healthy debate on the topic and I genuinly beleive that Prof Subedi is one of the best qualified persons for this post. But I think that GP Koirala will become our new President. He, NC and UML would do everything possible to make sure GP becomes president. I am of the view that the time has come to look for new and younger people with certain vision people to lead the nation.

  99. First of all UML is not a communist party, just a name. Most of the UML top party laders are power hungry leaders just as corrupt leader Girija. These leaders will have hard time appointing Padma Ratna or Sahana Pradhan. Second, Padma Ratna and Sahana are newars and would not appoint by UML because their top party leaders are Bahun and Chhetris. Please note that Bahuns and Chhetris in NC and UML would never allow newars on higher position. Third, UML party has division inside the party and they will have hard time appointing thier own candidate as president. Its leader will go where they can get benefit. I do not different between UML and NC party.

    I don’t like any of the persons/options given above. If I were to choose, I would go for either Madhav K. Nepal or Prachanda or Ram Chandra Poudel (others in Congress, if there are any to be the President).

    nice to read allof your comments. thabnks for all the above listed name. i have respect to all of the above listed personalities as they have separate role in the establishment of republic democracy in our country. but what i want to mention here is that our country cannot be a sole and independent natyion with complete communist supremacy like korea or china because of its fragile geoplolitical and eco social nature. hence it will eb difficult to maintain balance on above listed norms if any of the listed leaders are nominated as president. thats why i think there is no other option other than giving president role to g.p koirala.
